Body by Milk

Just a quick post to say that David Beckham's Body by Milk Ad and two videos about the making of the Ad are now live at the body by milk website When you go there, from the front screen, move your mouse to the right and enter the Addidas store, you will see a picture of Becks on a billboard above the adidas store. They're really cute vids, it seems the shoot took place just after his birthday and there is one part where someone says to Becks "That's the biggest one I've ever seen!". They were talking about his Milk Moustache - get your mind out of that there gutter!! Go check it out. I'll put some caps and a larger version of the ad in the Advertising Gallery

David Beckham extends contract?

UPDATE: A spokesman for David Beckham has told Reuters that he has not signed a two year contract extension as reported by Marca (and subsequently by the BBC, The Guardian and countless others) however discussions are planned. Reuters story here. So I guess we will be able to enjoy a few more, he will, he won't, he has, he hasn't, stories in coming months.

Real Madrid 0 - 0 Villareal

In not such good news, Real Madrid got off to a slow start to the season with a 0-0 draw at home to Villareal. A draw, whilst a whole lot better than a loss, really didin't reflect the first half performance Real Madrid put in and it was a shame that we were not able to convert a couple of good opportunities into a 1-0 victory. Still, there are positives to be taken from the match, we looked more solid in defence and Becks had a good game, producing two superb crosses, and pulling one clever ball back for Guti. It's early days yet, we will just have to wait a little longer for the first win of the season!

A New Season

In just a few hours Real Madrid will play the first game of the new season against Villareal. According to Marca, Becks is expected to start but I am still waiting for the official word on the line-up. I have a good feeling about this year. I think Capello will be a better Manager and that the signings have been really good. The Champions League calendar came out a couple of days ago, I meant to post about it but we were flat out finishing the scrapbook, anyway for the details check out the The Champions League Calendar on the Official Real Madrid site. The first match is scheduled for September 13 and I think we will be favorites to top the group. Here's crossing everything that we can start the season with a win today!

david beckham calendar

Other things I need to catch up on, that I forgot to mention in the last couple of weeks - Becks was voted Choice Male Athlete at the Teen Choice Awards which were held in LA and are mostly voted on by American teens. Also The 2007 Official David Beckham Calendar by Danilo can now be pre-ordered on Ebay. It has a nice cover (using a picture you have probably already seen in Motorola Ads) as you can see, can't wait to see if there are any new pics inside!

Got dirt?

Just a little more on the "got milk" David Beckham advertisements. Got milk are doing a new campaign called Body by Milk which features amongst others, Serena Williams and Freddy Adu. There is a website which has the ads and videos of the making of the ads, it seem Becks's hi-res ad and video footage will be made available August 30th. Here is a tiny picture courtesy of mad.co.uk of what the full ad will look like and a slightly bigger version of how Becks will look in the ad. As you can see he looks a very dirty boy! Sigh someone is trying to kill us. That on billboards in public streets? It'll stop traffic! I tell ya.

Scrapbook Completed!

david beckham scrapbook

The scrapbook has been completed and Sara has gone off to the Post Office to mail it! I hope you will all like the cover - which I have converted into a wallpaper. The words which you can't see clearly here say - "David Beckham - more than a captain - our hero - always".

David Beckham was a great captain who led with determination, courage and showed true team spirit. He always gave his all. He is a great player his crossing, his passing and his dead ball skills are second to none. Still for me it was the disclosure in a documentary, that the papparazzi sometimes use children as "decoys" to get David Beckham to stop in the street, so that they can get the opportunity to take a few 'in-focus' shots, that somehow says it all, at least to me.

David Beckham stops for children, knowing the papparazzi are probably lurking and with all that has been written in the press and having seen the worst of human nature up far too close and way too personal, David Beckham still stops if a child approaches. He gives his time, his smile and his kindness. That goes to the heart of the man, who could blame him if he kept his head down, kept hurrying, pretended not to see the child hoping for an autograph, a moment of his time, but David Beckham stops. That's why he is my hero, he's more than a captain and more than a player, he's more than his sex appeal, the clothes he wears, the fancy cars, the jet-set lifestyle, when all is stripped away, he is a kind-hearted man and so he will always be heroic to me. So I have chosen pictures that show his kind-heart and the generosity he has shown to his fans - and all we can hope now, is that our messages will be something to make him smile when he receives them! Thanks everyone who helped make this happen.

I also just added some great photos of Becks from the Anderlecht game click here

Real Madrid 2 - 1 Anderlecht

david Beckham Two first half goals by Ruud "Van the Man" Van Nistelrooy secured victory for Real Madrid. It is great to go into the Season on the back of a win! The first half performance was very commanding and a defensive lapse in the second half gave Anderlecht a goal at the 84 minute mark but otherwise it was a convincing display. The sports paper AS made mention of Beckhams valuable passes, he was subbed off for Raul Bravo in the 88th minute after a good game. Ruud will be glad to be on form and I think it's looking really good for us this season! Bring it on. Full match report here

Real Madrid v Anderlecht

The teamsheet is out for Real Madrid's Bernabéu Trophy game against Anderlecht tomorrow, Weds August23. David Beckham is in the starting line-up. The Sun, The Independent and a number of other british publications in recent weeks have reported that David Beckham has been dropped from the team, as always they are making it up as they go along and are wrong as usual. Yawn.

We're working away on the scrapbook, just a reminder the scrapbook will be completed this Friday the 25th for mailing on the 26th. So please aim to have your message in by the 25th at the latest. You can go here to send a message of support to Becks. Thanks!

Real Madrid 0 - 1 Villareal

Sadly, Real Madrid followed their loss to Real Betis, with a loss to Villareal in the Carranza match to decide third and fourth. It was an unspectacular match decided in the 88th minute by a goal from Riquelme. Fabio Capello, is still very much experimenting with combinations and whilst losing is not fun, pre-season is the time for a new coach and new signings to try things out, so I don't think we can read to much into these games and hopefully Capello is gathering important info that will help him with his tactics when the season begins next week!

P.S Word from the tabloids is that Gary Neville will tie the knot next July and that Becks will be his best man, just as Gary was Best Man for Becks when he married Posh. Now Becks just don't lose the ring!

News Update

Just a quickie! Check out a photo from the photoshoot David and Victoria Beckham did for their new perfume range "intimately", that The Sun put online here. There is speculation on whether it's digitally enhanced - who gives a digital damn, it looks great!
Also I've just added a "this week" album to the Real madrid section - to make it easy for you to find the latest photos I've added of Becks playing and training for Real Madrid. View it here. The latest photos are from the match against Real Betis which sadly we lost on penalties after drawing 3-3. Becks started the game but was subbed off in the 78th minute, with the score at 3-2 in our favor. He was replaced by Helguera who unfortunately conceded a penalty in the 88th minute, which allowed real Betis to level the scores. Roberto Carlos, uncharacteristically, missed his penalty.

David Beckham Scrapbook Update

david beckham with a fan
We have over 200 messages now! I have put a few of the messages, where permission was given, online. I have not been able to include every message sent in as we need to write them up and I don't want to spend too much time putting them on the web today, but I want to thank everyone for every message sent as it really helps us make the scrapbook better. I know I have been touched by the wonderful things you have written for Becks and I am sure he will really appreciate it. I haven't written my message yet *blush* I will have to work hard to come up with a message as wonderful as the ones sent in by all of you! Thanks again -- Anna

P.S If you haven't sent us your message yet, don't worry we aren't sending the scrapbook until the 26th. Please go here to send a message

David Beckham Photos - update

Things are going well with the scrapbook! Thanks to all who have contributed we have almost 200 messages now from fans in 40 different countries! Working on this is slowing down my work on the gallery so it may be a while longer before it's completed. I have added a new album today for photos of Becks work with various charities and I have added some better quality photos to the Wembley folder in the Engand Album.

The Mirror's Oliver Holt, has written an article about Becks and the way he has handled being dropped from the England team, you can view it here. He makes some good points and I hope that he is right and we might get to see Becks in an England shirt again.

A picture's worth a 1000 words

Gillette are launching a new campaign for their Fusion razor - I don't know about the razor but I wish I could buy the fella to go! This is a public safety warning to all David Beckham fans - when you see this on a billboard, try not to fall over in the street. Seriously though - Gillette have a fun website supporting the campaign with lots of pics of Becks to check out! I have also added some photos to the Adevertising gallery

David Beckham is currently on a couple days break, after the completion of the pre-season tour to the US. He is currently in Nice with Victoria where they spent an afternoon at Bono's home near there. I have added photos to the Holiday gallery. Also for anyone who didn't notice I added another 24 larger photos to the US tour gallery check out the back pages! Sigh, that new Gillette ad is making my Tuesday, hope it makes yours too!

Send Becks a Message - update

Click here to send Becks a message of support

Just a quick update - click on the picture right to view a bigger picture of a sample page from the scrapbook we are working on. There is still more decoraton to be added and I am working on my terrible hand-writing (Sara's is better!)lol. The page is smaller than a full page and obviously the scan is slightly lower quality than the real page! What we have decided to do, to make each message special, is give each message it's own Post-it design and colors. It lets us create colorful, personal style pages quickly, and whilst the design is very simple - it's nice and cheerful and that was our aim. The finished pages plus the pictures we have received from some fans will be tied together with ribbon and inserted into a cardboard binder. So far we have 63 messages of support, a big thanks to all who have contributed and we hope to have many more by the project deadline at the end of the month -- Anna

Send Becks a message of support

Sign the David Beckham Fans Scrapbook Here

david Beckham
Hi everyone *waves* - with everything that has happened recently with England's exit from the World Cup, Becks resigning the captaincy and now McClaren leaving him out of the England squad - and throughout all of this lots of negative things being written in the press - I wanted to send Becks my support and let him know that there are tonnes of fans out here who appreciate the man and the player that he is!

I need your help, I would like to create a scrapbook (basically a large greeting card with lots of pages) and I thought it would be nice if it could be signed by as many of David Beckham's fans as possible! It can also include photos and drawings. Sara and I will write all your messages into the scrap book attach any photos etc and send it off to Becks c/o Real Madrid. If we can get enough people to sign the fan scrapbook we will also put out a press release, I don't know if we would have any chance of getting any of the media to run the story, but it would be nice for there to be a story about Beckham's fans instead of Beckham's critics for a change! So please, please Sign the scrapbook here and let's all send Becks some love!

US Tour update

I have added more photos to the USA Tour Gallery. David Beckham paricipated in training and a soccer clinic in Salt Lake, Friday, ahead of the game against Real Salt Lake scheduled for Saturday, he was quoted as saying:
"It's a beautiful place," Beckham said. "It's really nice. We haven't seen much, but what we have seen, it's gorgeous. . . . As I said before, the people have been really amazing to us since we arrived, so I'm sure the atmosphere is going to be good" at the game.
"Hopefully," he said, "we win."

Becks left out of England Squad

captain david beckham
View David Beckham's statement here

David Beckham has been left out of the England squad, Steve McClaren named for the friendly against Greece. It was new England Manager, Steve McClaren's, first squad selection and despite his protests to the contrary, I believe he was trying to make a statement, making sure he slipped phrases such as "new beginning" and "clean slate" in, between empty cliches, about "new directions" and a little love letter to England fans, saying how we are the best fans in the world. Although he praised Beckham, he spoke as if David Beckham would really have his work cut out to be re-included and made it clear that he had a plan and Beckham wasn't included in it. He could have said, I'm testing new options, but David Beckham will remain a part of our thinking and he may have more to contribute, but he didn't. He didn't soften his words or hedge his bets at all. He made it sound like he was basically saying, "never say never" to any chance of re-inclusion, but little more. To be honest I'm gutted, really gutted. However, if anyone can play themselves beck in to contention and make a case for inclusion in the face of adversity, it's David Beckham. The man is a force of nature, very stubborn and very determined!

Becks has put out a statement to say that he understands. But I don't understand. I really don't. I look at some of the players included in the squad and I can't see how the decision could have been made for footballing reasons alone. No. Could it be a decision motivated by public opinion and press as much as anything else? It shouldn't be but I believe it is. Beckham has enough class and dignity to make, as always, a positive statement in support of England. He could remain silent, he could say no comment, but he chooses to re-state how much he loves his country, wants to play for his country and hopes too again, as fans, I know we all hope he will too! Thank you for everything you have done for England Becks, you're still the best!

Real Madrid 1-1 DC United

Real Madrid drew the first match of it's US pre-season tour, against DC United in Seattle. David Beckham played the first half but was subbed at half time as he is still coming back from an injury. The result was not unexpected considering it is a friendly and that Real Madrid has many new faces who are still gelling into a team.
I have added a few small pictures to the gallery and will replace with larger ones tomorrow. If you were lucky enough to be there, I hope you had a real good time :-)
View match report here.
View cute story about the fans here.

New book and fragrance!

David Beckham has a new book for children coming out September 18th. The book is called Making it Real: My Football/Soccer Skills Book. A great prezzie for the footie or soccer mad kiddie in your life or hey maybe for you if you fancy working on your skills! You can click on the picture to see a larger version of the cover.
David and Victoria Beckham are also launching a perfume "Intimately" as David's after-shave "Instinct" has been an alltime best seller amongst men. The advertisements for the new perfume are rumored to be "very sexy". How could they not be! :-)

David Platt talks sense

In recent weeks even months there has been plenty of talk about whether David Beckham should continue to play for England. I have found the lack of logic and often times, out and out envy being demonstrated by the Becks bashers hard to stomach.

It was a nice change today to find a balanced article in the english media about the question. I know! balanced and English Media in the same sentence - who knew it was still possible, such has been the obvious lack of any objectivity or impartiality shown by the hacks of late.

Still fairs fair, The Guardian did publish a debate between the exManager of Spurs, who "surprise surprise surprise" (said with my best Gomer Pyle accent) is backing Lennon - I mean he would surely, and David Platt who makes the case for why Beckham still has much to contribute, as well as, I believe, the long overdue case, for how much Beckham has already done for England. A fact that seems so obvious, it is hard to imagine it has to be argued and yet the poisonous petty pen-pushers who supplied commentary for the World Cup, actually made every effort to down-play the indisputable fact, that Beckham was invaluable.

David Platt starts his comments by pointing out that peoples opinions of David Beckham are too influenced by anything and everything, other than his actual ability and performance. Perhaps the cruelest irony of all, is that whilst Beckham is derided as a brand, as a poster boy and a merchandising mega-star, he has never let these things impact on the very real talent that he possesses. He has always known how to leave the trappings at the door and get on with it. His detractors have never been able to get past the glitz, a limitation of the critics but not of the man.

Anyway enough ranting and raving *blush*. I started this fansite along with Sara because I have felt very strongly for some time that David Beckham receives far too much undeserved criticism. This fansite is my way of saying, for what it's worth, that I have huge admiration and respect for him and I think he is a decent bloke with a good heart and I wish him and his family the best, so I will go on these little rants ocassionally, as I can't help myself :-) Anyway lol here's the article -- Anna

Real Madrid V DC United

For those of you going to the game tonight! Have fun, you have no idea how jealous I am :-) I will be keeping everything crossed that you have a great nite and I hope Becks scores a goal! Here's the latest news ahead of the game
SALT LAKE CITY — David Beckham never has or never will be mistaken for the best soccer player in the world, but that hasn't stopped him from becoming one of the most celebrated athletes on the planet.

Blessed with good looks and the ability to bend a soccer ball like no other, Beckham has surpassed virtually every other athlete in the global hierarchy because of his charisma.

Having just spent 17 hours on a charter flight from Madrid to Salt Lake City on Monday, Beckham stopped and signed autographs for nearly five minutes before boarding the team bus, and did so with a seemingly genuine smile on his face. Clearly not just going through the motions, the legendary Beckham outdid even himself by wiping the tear from the cheek of a 4-year-old girl who was crying because of the chaos surrounding her. Read the full story here.
Just for the record, Mr James Edwards, he IS one of the best players in the world as well as someone who treats his fans well and is genuinely kind. You can read more on Real Madrid's US Tour here and here. I have set up the USA tour gallery and added the first few pics. More soon.

David Beckham has landed!

david beckham arrives in the US Yes Becks and the Real Madrid team have landed in Salt Lake after a 15 (yep 15!) hour flight. I didn't realise it was quite that far, ok I was looking out the window during geography and maths and... ok sorry getting off topic! For details of the teams schedule for the next five days click here
I will be creating a special US tour album in the Real Madrid section and will be posting photos as soon as they're available so stay tuned!

New tattoo

The Sun ran a piece today on David Beckham latest addition to his body art. I noticed it in one of the pictures of Becks arriving at the airport in Graz last week. I think it looks good - I think it improves on the design he already had - so check it out here and let me know what you think!

Becks heading Stateside

The team sheet is out for Real Madrid's US tour and David Beckham, as expected, is among the 24 who will be jetting over in the next 24 hours ahead of the first friendly on August 9th in Seattle against DC United. For this and also a video of the interview Becks gave on RVN's signing - head over to the Real Madrid site. You will need to be an e member to see it, but as fans I am sure that most of you are, it's free and if you have been put off by the form (they seem to want a dna sample to let you join) just *coughmakesomethingupcough* Also make sure you check on the photos of the day as there are cute ones of his hotness aka Becks!

Silence not so golden

The Mirror carried a story this morning about the fact that David Beckham and SAF have not spoken since David left Manchester United, apart from 5 words at the funeral of Jimmy Davis, a sad ocassion that forced their paths to cross. It made me sad to read that when Beckham was told he would be sold and would no longer play for the team he had supported since birth, it was all done without a single word from Sir Alex. I have respect for Sir Alex's track record, but Beckham signed papers as a 14 year old, and to realise there was not one word of good-bye, feels a little like hearing a father sent his son away and refused to say good bye.
I hope one day they will set aside their differences and stubborn pride as I do believe their was a time when Ferguson really was very fond of Becks and it went both ways and I hope they can put the hurt behind them because I think when two people have had a genuine bond - while the rift remains - it's always a source of regret. I think David Beckham deserved to be treated better, I believe he had earnt it, he served Manchester United well, but the fact that it was handled the way it was, suggests that it was a very emotional situation for Ferguson. I hope one day both men will be able to remember all that was great about what they were a part of, rather than any differences they had. Anyway I'll stop blithering click here for the story. - Hope you have a wonderful week - A.

David Beckham amongst Best-Dressed

Vanity Fair has issued it's 2006 Best Dressed list and the suave Becks is of course amongst those who make the grade along with George Clooney, Kanye West, Gwen Stefani and Selma Blair.

Real Madrid 1 - 0 Reggina

More good news for US Beckham fans hoping to see him in action during Real Madrid's pre-season tour State-side: Beckham had a run out during Real Madrid's friendly against Reggina, (view match report here) which they won 1-0, with Raul scoring the only goal. This suggest's that his recovery is on track and increases the chances that he will play in Seattle and Salt Lake City.
The match was Ruud Van Nistlerooy's first bow for Real Madrid and David Beckham was quoted in The Sun as saying
Becks, 31, said: “We spoke a few times on the phone before he signed for Real Madrid.

“He was interested to know what it’s like and I told him ‘It’s the best in the world’.

“He’s told me he’s delighted to be part of this squad and he wants the season to start so he can show why he’s been signed.”

Beckham is convinced his crosses will help make his old pal, 30, an instant hit in Spain. He added: “At United, Ruud always got on the end of my crosses.

“We have an understanding just by looking at each other. He will definitely score a lot of goals.”

Sounds good to me, bring it on!
