lol between Sky in Italy and now the ABC when someone finally announces Becks decision - no one will believe it :)

wow what a disastrous step for beckham! He is pretty much ending his pro soccer career at the age of 31!!! A sad sad ending for once such a talented player :)

this could be a real bad thing, as being in the US most of us don't follow soccer much but if his being here will get soccer to be more popular and a lot more followed then i am ALL for it. I'm sick of our american football and baseball and basketball. the US needs to have soccer, or rather football, as a sport like the rest of the world. That would seriously make my year.
8:13 AM
yes but realistically he isnt going to do jack sh*t changing the popularity of soccer in the US. I can see him on the covers of hollywood magazines a lot more but not on ESPN. If someone thinks he is going to revolutionize sports in the US and move soccer ahead of football, baseball, basketball or heck even hockey, then something is wrong with them. Heck the beckham transfer story isnt even the top headline on ESPN, SI- barry bond's drug test takes higher priority!!. I have said it before and i will say it again- beckham has just ended his pro soccer career today! Its all about living a nice lavish life in LA from now on with his kids being raised well and his academies flourishing

Well, I wish Beckham can enjoy his life in US. For football (or soccer)? He should better forget about it as he had indeed announced his retirement today.
Both RM and McClaren are winners today. RM not only succeeded in getting rid of Beckham, but also push him out of Europe; for McClaren, he will no longer have to face the petition to recall Beckham to the National Team from English media and football fans again.
Sorry for my grumbles, but I'm really disappointed with his decision.....
9:45 AM
I would have preferred he move to Italy but still I would rather he was anywhere than Real Madrid! At least he'll get to play, maybe MLS is terrible I don't know but I'm going to wait and watch it before I throw my hands in the air and start wailing, I'm not a euro-snob like some lol
10:51 AM
To those disappointed with his decision...what did you want? Him to stay and warm the bench? Him to go to Bolton? Are you even so sure everything would have worked out in Milan? What did you want? You don't think he looked at all the options? C'mon he didn't have many great options and at least this is a different kind of adventure for him, I think he will be great for Soccer and he may get a bit more privacy and have a slightly more normal life! Good on ya Becks, all the best man!

This will be Posh's doing. Everything is always all about her. He would have been miles better off in Serie A and still able to play Champions League instead he's gonna play for some tin pot outfit cos the missus wants to go to Hollywood. Hell he's still be at Man U if it wasn't for that publicity whore.
12:17 PM
I felt so upset that I couldn't say anything.
Anyway, I hope Becks will be happy about his decision.
