Freefalling David Beckham!

It is reported that David Beckham and his family celebrated the New Year with a trip to the Airkix wind tunnel, which lets you simulate freefalling in a controlled environment! Sounds like a blast, details here and the story in The Sun along with mocked up photo here.

The Sun are reporting this morning that Inter Milan are not "Inter" Becks... who comes up with their headlines? Do they get paid? I want that gig? Sorry I digress, anyhoo if you read the quote from Inter Milan's Mancini, you will find that he is mainly talking about Figo and he doesn't actually say anything about Becks other than declining to comment because Becks is currently a Real Madrid player, so basically that's the story you have when you're not having a story. Earlier in the week The Sun ran a story about David Beckham and his International future with England, and used a quote from Arsene Wenger that was over two months old. The quote and that story was originally run in October (view the original story with identical quotes here). It seems The Sun are taking recycling to a whole new level!

David BeckhamThere was an article about David Beckham's contract renewal negotiations on AS.com yesterday. It talks about the fact that Real Madrid will not negotiate on their current entitlement to 50% of David Beckham's image rights partly because in doing so they would open the door to similar requests from other players such as Ronaldo. The article indicates that whilst the image rights percentages may be the ultimate stumbling block for the club, that for David Beckham the issue of playing looms just as large, because he has only started 9 games so far this season and has doubts about where he features in Capello's plans. AS suggest that the outlook for a renewal looks bad and is growing slimmer, the article says there will be a decisive meeting in two weeks time.

Finally, there were some cute photos of Becks back at training yesterday on the Real Madrid site. I'm glad he's feeling better and is able to train! Hope 2007 is treating you well so far. -- Anna
