More contract news
This morning The Sun are reporting that David Beckham will not make a decision in the current window and that he will refuse to bow to pressure from Real Madrid, details here. The Sun are quoting "sources close to" and it is always hard to know how reliable these reports are. There is a more detailed article about the ultimatum from Real Madrid in this mornings Guardian.
Certainly, at the moment the rumors are flying thick and fast. What we know for sure is that Real Madrid are going to try and force a decision so that they can respond accordingly within the window. As The Sun article mentions they would prefer to sell David Beckham if his final decision is to leave, rather than having him go on a free in the Summer. However, as David Beckham's spokesman, Simon Oliveira, said last week, (you can see his comments here) this is an incredibly important decision for David Beckham and given the circumstances and the amount of game time he has had this season, not one that can be hurried. Given Mijatovic's latest comments mention David Beckham's marketing value, Becks must be wary of ending up a pawn in Real Madrid's commercial agenda. He has every right to stick to his guns and to his own timetable.
Becks has been nothing but professional as always, in his conduct and dealings and has been giving more than 100% towards the single objective of the team winning, whenever given the opportunity to play. Any suggestion that the situation with his contract is impacting on team-morale is almost laughable, considering there are many other things having a much greater impact on the dressing-room. After all, Cassano and Diarra were not caught on camera discussing Becks contract, they were caught discussing Capello's selection policy. Any man-management issues impacting morale at Real Madrid must be placed squarely at Capello's door, where they belong.

I think if he wants to stay he should just say so...what is the big problem if he can not decide to stay or go then he should go because his heart is not 100% with Madrid

Thanks Ben - Yes I just posted it!! I'm kind of relieved. I didn't want him to renew with Real Madrid my only reservation is that if he sticks to his timetable which he has every right to do - what are the next few months going to be like for him? Still regardless if he will have a fresh project and a new beginning to look forward too and I think this is the best outcome!
