David Beckham Upset
It was very sad to read this morning on AS.com that Capello forced David Beckham and Cassano to train in isolation yesterday and that David Beckham was visibly upset by the decision. Becks has had some tendonitis but he has recovered and was hoping for a recall into the squad as several players are injured, however Capello's decision to separate Becks from the team signals that he will not be considered. Capello also had a bust up with Guti at the same session, details here.
David Beckham has chosen to see his contract out. He wants nothing more than a chance to play and to contribute. It is frustrating to see him denied the opportunity, even when players are injured, as it is clearly in the club's best interest for the squad to be selected from all who are available and based on form, not politics and grudges. I hope, but with little cause for optimism, that Capello will come to his senses and that conscience or circumstances will compell him to give David Beckham a fair chance. Capello, however, is a small man with a big ego and we have seen little in the last six months to make us think that he will re-discover his professionalism now.
On a happier note, AS.com also has a poll today "Is Mijatovic a good Sporting Director" and so far 81% have voted no! To vote you can go to AS.com the poll is on the right hand side, scroll down until you see encuesta.
Super Bowl news
A couple of days ago I posted that David Beckham was going to be appearing in a Super Bowl advertisement for the NFL. Heres a little more about it from Adage - "The 30 second TV Spot is titled "Hanging with Chad". It is set at the Super Bowl party of Cincinnati Bengal's Chad Johnson, Martha Stewart cooks for other guests that include British soccer star David Beckham, former U.S. attorney general Janet Reno, Triumph the Insult Comic Dog, country music group Rascal Flatts, comic Jimmy Fallon and singer LL Cool J". David Beckham according to The Sun will be making a joke of his accent in the Ad. A film crew went to Madrid to film David Beckham's part which will be digitally inserted into the finished commercial and if the advertisements won't be televised where you live, all ads from the coverage will be on ifilm.com shortly after it ends.Hello Magazine have a few details about David Beckham's Super Bowl interview, they say it will be a pre-recorded half-time Q & A session but still no word on who will be serving up the questions!

I've made a few captures from the video of David Beckham's Disney shoot. The pics are in the gallery
The Telegraph have a write up on the upcoming LA Galaxy "try outs" which will be attended by hundred of hopefuls from as far afield as Nigeria vying for a chance to join the team David Beckham will play for.

Capello is literally losing his hold on the Real Madrid squad...has he not learn anything during the course of these past few weeks? The players do not respect him anymore and as result Real Madrid has come up with mediocre performances. With Reyes injured I would tend to think that Beckham should be called up. Instead he was made to train in isolation...This is very sad to me since not only am I a Beckham fan, I'm also a Real Madrid fan --- and I hate to see them losing because of an incapable manager in the helm.

Anna, you find everything!
AS was wild this morning/last night. There was also a great opinion by Alfredo Relano, "LA MESA QUE NUNCA HUBIESE QUERIDO VER," with Capello causing more outrage among fans in Spain. It's very heartfelt and includes criticism of Beckham's treatment. Not sure which edition.

Thanks Diane, I don't speak spanish - so I miss things - it's all I can do to work out what the main stories on AS are about but I will go and look for the commentary now :)

Diane, I found the commentary it's in the current edition but using the google translating tool - the column is almost impossible to follow. Do you speak Spanish? I'll be eternally grateful if you can tell me what it says :)

During the past week, with a number of players injured, Capello had to "tolerate" Beckham and Cassano in the training sessions as he was really short of hands. Now, with Raul, Reyes and Emerson recovered, there's no way he will allow both of them in the team..........as simple as that.....
5:25 AM
But the thing is he did not "tolerate" even before Reyes and Raul returned, it makes no difference who is in or out of the team, period. Capello will not play him.

Capello's last excuse for leaving Beckham behind was that he had missed ONE day of training with the squad during the week due to a strain. It's interesting that each of the currently recovering players, breathlessly anticipated to be "ready to play on Sunday," will have missed training with the squad for various numbers of days this week. Oh well, should be no surprise...but frustrating once more nonetheless.
Anna, I can only read a little Spanish, hence the AS headline catching my eye. I will see if I can find a better translation tool though and email you the results.

Completely agree with everything you have said about Capello and would only add that we never know when Calderon and/or Mijatovic are having an additional influence on decisions--also based on ego, politics and grudges! It's such a shame for team, fans and club.
