Michael Owen supports Becks

David Beckham training today Today's training report and photos are on the official Real Madrid site. From the photos it appears that David Beckham and Antonio Cassano were allowed to train with the rest of the squad. This is very encouraging, following the reports that they trained separately yesterday and that it was a sign that Capello would not be counting upon them. Let's hope this positive sign will translate into something more substantial when the squad is named for the match against Levante.

Michael Owen was interviewed in the press today, he seems to be on the mend which is good to see. He had some kind words for Becks when asked about his move to the States
I wouldn’t say I was shocked about David going there. I went to LA with him one pre-season when Real beat Galaxy 2-1. It was fantastic and I can understand the attraction.

It’s [Los Angeles] English speaking and a great place to go on holiday and to live. I wish him well and I think everybody wants to see him do well. He's been a fantastic servant to English football.

Finally, a shout out to the Aussies (and Kiwis!) - talk about a possible match between LA Galaxy and Sydney FC seems to be gathering momentum, with November or December of this year being touted as the most likely timeframe. Fingers crossed! Story here.

Becks and Cannavaro so cute :) It's nice they are friendly and have fun! I hope Becks can play, if not play soon then Capello will say he can't play him as he hasn't played in soo long and is not match ready... grrrr!

Beckham and Cassano always warm-up with the team...........so we keep on getting these group photos as RM now only allows the press to stay for the first 15 minutes (or warming-up session) of the training sessions. They are only being separated from the team when the team prepare for the game.........after all the press had gone........

Can I ask how you know? I'm not saying you are wrong, sadly I find that all too believable but the last couple of days there are no photos, there are no mention of Becks in the training reports and today there are a couple of photos of him on the RM site - but I wasn't able to find anything else. Yesterday it was reported in AS and a couple of places what had happened at the training session but so far today I haven't found anything - do you have a source? If you could post a link that would be great. Thanks -- Anna

There does seem to be a deafening silence, plus I think the picture of Becks and Cannavaro is from a previous session (?).
I watched today's little training video on the RM site and it shows and mentions everyone on earth except Beckham. There was the one tiny mention in the Spanish press yesterday that he was angry when he left the isolated training, but then nothing more.
Now that they know its illegal, as long as he's still under contract, to come out and say that Beckham can't play in matches anymore, its almost more frustrating. It leaves him (and the rest of us) guessing, and if we're annoyed I can't imagine how stressful it must be for him. More politics ahead of play--and people.
