Owen supports Beckham recall
Owen Hargreaves has been praising David Beckham, again! He credits Becks with having made him feel like he belonged in the England set up and for having stuck by him when others doubted him. Full story
There can be no doubt whatsoever that Owen Hargreaves is a class act, here are some of his comments -
“If David plays like he did against us then he can play his way back into any team.
“It was great to see him back again and I’ve always said anyone who writes off Becks is mad.
“He has such exceptional ability and is an exceptional passer and he showed that again.
“He was Real’s most influential player against us by a country mile. Every chance seemed to come from his set-pieces or passes.
“Becks completely controlled the flow of the game, especially in the first half. He was the key player basically in all their moves.”
More on David Beckham's possible England recall
The Sun ran the headline this morning, in reference to McClaren's comment that David Beckham had given him a problem, "McClaren: I've got Beck Ache" - I thought it was one of their funnier efforts, but the article contained a big error, they have taken a quote from McClaren where he is talking about Owen Hargreaves and reported it as being a comment from him on David Beckham, unfortunately that is not the case. Real Madrid fans heart Becks!
The Times also has an article this morning about David Beckham's popularity with the Real Madrid fan base reaching new highs after his wonderful performance Tuesday, here is a excerpt, you can read the full story here -The embodiment of dignity, Beckham has not whinged to the Spanish media about his treatment. He sat quietly next to his mother in his private box at the Bernabéu as free kicks were fired into row Z. And after a goal from a free kick on his return to the team two weeks ago and Tuesday’s performance, some fans are even asking: “Why are we selling him?”

I hope he's recalled, he deserves it and the team needs him that's for sure. It seems bleeding ridiculous that Becks has to play out of his skin to even get a look in, to get so much as a "well I guess I should take a look at him as an option" while some of the players making it into the squad don't seem to have to do anything outstanding for club or country to be on the list. I mean whats with that f'ing double standard McClown? Still, like you said main thing is if McClaren is finally going to wake up and do the right thing.

Does anyone else wonder if it had not been for McClaren and for Capello refusing to give him a decent chance and a series of starts, if he'd be going to the US? I mean ok Capello is finally using him and McClaren might back track but it won't change the fact that the guy has signed a contract to take him into the "soccer" wilderness, when he should still be in Europe. Whether he gets recalled or not, those a$$holes have well and truly won.

As Arsene Wegner said that if Beckham have not been excluded from the England squad then he would not have left Europe; The commentators for the Champions league game also made mentioned that Beckham might miss the pace of a premier match. However, much as we would miss Beckham playing for a top flight team, I think Beckham thought that it was his time to go and accept a new challenge in increasing the game of the MLS.

Damn that quote from The Sun had really got me hopes up that that fool McClaren was finally coming to his senses. Take that away and most of what he says sounds like platitudes reluctently given, I mean contrast what it turns out he was saying about Hargreaves with what he says about Becks and you'd never know that Becks was the better player on the nite. I hate the man.

I think altho Wenger said that bout him being dropped from England that you hav to blame RM more cos if all had been ok at RM he probably wud hav renew cos like his kids are happy there and stuff so really is the fact that Capello didn't like him and wanted rid of galacticos that really put pressure on becks to leave and decide where he shud be going imo

Hi Anna
The site is looking great! I was so happy that Becks was man of the match and to hear McClaren was perhaps backtracking.
I don't think there's any point looking back, all the what ifs and who did what to who will just drive us crazy! It would be wonderful to see him back in the England squad so I'm just going to keep hoping for that
