I am not really sold on the idea of a reality show. But since the focus is on Victoria and the producer is Simon Fuller, I guess its okay since Victoria is in show business and she is just doing her thing.

Hi Marie,

I just hope Becks is only involved to the extent that he wants to be and that however the ratings go, that he doesn't get asked to do more than he wants too. Otherwise, it should be fine. The world cup party reality show focussed mostly on Victoria and from memory that was fine.

I'm glad it is not going to be Living with the beckhams but instead show about Posh as she is the one who craving the constant attention and spotlight so let she have it and let the children and David be having peace as much as possible.

She can be really funny, it would just have been nice for them to be known here for what they do first, and how they live second.
I only say "they" because I read a really interesting interview with Mrs Becks from Women's Wear Daily (the oh so serious fashion newspaper) about her design work, and I was extremely surprised at how much she has done during the past three years. I guess she was flying under the radar as much as possible because they got so much grief whenever she left Becks in Madrid (yes, I know, I wouldn't have either!). I thought, wow she does have a real job. He always said her success and ambition were a great attraction. So, good for them. I just hope this show is documentary style, like the world cup party, and doesn't make them look too silly for people to pay due attention to Mr Becks' real work.
Anyway, if our dreams come true, David Beckham could have a very busy few months on the pitch coming up (fingers crossed!!!), and he deserves the complete spotlight during this final season in Europe. As always, he has my wishes that its a great one! Certainly very exciting so far...

Yup, I heard that too, about Victoria designing, she's very serious about it and wants to make it work. In the documentaries she seem to be very grounded and very level headed, I think she even surprises the interviewers.

Sorry but an article by a smart publicist in WWD doesn't actually make Posh into something other than who she is. She's a wannabe lots of things but has actually made it as nothing except 1/5 of a girl band and 1/2, the lesser half, of a famous couple.

Think about it, even if you are a fan of how funny she supposedly is, they were offered a show by Fox who also show soccer when he didn't want to be the main event or even have equal screen time with old pose for the paparazzi posh, they didn't want the show, NBC was all they could get and even they wouldn't come at it without a promise that David would feature regularly. He was not keen but she can never stop, back off or respect his wishes. She should be called push for how pushy she is not posh. Those of you who are fans I am surprised that you can be such big fans of someone who would stop at nothing in her quest for the spotlight and it is him not her putting his foot down over the children not being shown. Lets just say I know someone who has had a lot to do with this and I heard that this was not what he wanted. laterz

Very interesting Aaron that fits with what I expect from her, also rpm you say the world cup party was fine but actually if you want to look for reasons why he was publicly sacrificed after the world cup and why public opinion at that time was unfairly anti, just take a look at that show. Things like that and the wag culture that has caused so much ill will...and he has paid for that not her. A lot of english people watched the big build up and her acting like she was queen of the world to his king and then they went to Germany and did nowt again. I really think the humble decent bloke he is has gotten lost in all the..look at me or us.. that she is responsible for its her hanging off his coat tails that makes people think hes not a footballer that he cares more about other things.

I agree with you Aaron -- that was really a smart publicist in WWD. The article also makes it clear how much she wants to be famous in America but the first thing I noticed was how much David and his ability to bend a ball was exploited to make Posh look impressive and that it was craftily designed to make her design work or what she does seem bigger than it is. People talk about the Brand but the mainstay and backbone of it has been David's football.
Just reading the title of that article, you would think it was Vic who could BEND IT LIKE BECKHAM.......Here is the title:
"VICTORIA'S SECOND ACT: BECKHAM OUT TO BEND HER STYLE INTO A BRAND

Women's Wear Daily

NEW YORK - "People look at me and David and they see fashion, they see family, they see sports. I think there are people who want to be a part of that. It's aspirational."
Victoria has benefited immensely from David's name and his football epecially in the post-Spice Girls era and she must use it in order to promote herself and activities. Here quest for fame is just....

I agree with you, Aaron. During these years, more and more people have realized what a decent and humble man he is. The only thing wrong is that he married a peacockish woman. As a United fan, I'd say this show-biz woman have ruined David's career as a footballer to some extent.

I see what everyone is saying about the article--thank you. I try to stay neutral about the wife because Becks seems to like her. If not we'd have to believe the living an act stories which I can't bring myself to accept of him (is that naive?). He also sought her out at the height of her ambition, and his independent/stubborn streak was already in place. He always liked to "try new things" and never fit a conventional peg off the pitch, which drove lots of people round the bend. I don't believe Becks is "thick." Like any adult he makes choices and good and bad come of them. We may disagree and be sad about some of the repercussions, but I just don't see him being lead around by the whatever by ANYONE.
Good the kids are left off the show, and I hope his football is left to speak for itself once again. For now, its thankfully the main interest in the States where spotlight seekers are a dime a dozen! And the humble decent bloke still can't help but come through :).
Aaron, thanks for the info from your friend involved.

I think it's a bit simplistic to say they are either living a lie or because he married someone famous he is always happy with what she decides to do, marriage isn't like that. He may luv her AND he may have preferred not to have cameras in the living room as Aaron says and she may be more desperate for fame than him and it may be a point on which he has to compromise for the sake of his marriage and kids. Marriage with 3 children is never as straightforward as my way or the highway, it takes a power of compromise and you only dig in over the deal breakers and even then some degree of compromise is often required. Married people don't always agree or want the same things at the same time, that doesn't equate to living a lie or being led around by the whatever, it just means your married rofl Guess I'm showing my age here :)

Anyway don't mind me, was just stopping by to say thanks for the photo area, very nice.

Diane, I also try to stay neutral but they both sought each other out......not making a big deal of it... it is just a little discussion.....if David had not achieved a certain level of fame and success as a footballer, then Victoria would not have been shown a picture of him and after meeting him briefly once in London, went up to Manchester herself to find him......that is the story.....so it is her more than him lol ''My wife picked me out of a football sticker book and I chose her off the telly" - My Side.....
Of course he makes his own decisions .....but going back to the World Cup debate.... as a David fan, especially during and after the World Cup he has had to take so much scorn and criticism because the critics refuse to pay attention to his football and their claim was that he used the Party ( a charity event, in which Victoria featured so much - and only through David as England Captain) and his status as England Captain to build his Brand blah.....now we see that that is just ridiculous . He has been dropped from England and his club and has fought his way back through his football.....
People are demanding an England recall and he has been making headlines because of his football and NOT because of his Spice Girl wife......He did not achieve over 100 CL games, for example, because of his lifestyle. He is unfairly treated because of this so-called celebrity status and perhaps because there is just too much focus on her by the media or whoever or perhaps because she herself enjoys and craves the spotlight soooooooo much ....He has been playing football ALL his life ...and the Brand just gets bigger with one free-kick lol.

Guess I sounded more defensive of wife's behavior than I meant. Just wanted to point out that there are many nuances involved and guess I ended up with a black and white picture instead. The note after mine expresses my view of any marriage perfectly.
I'm married with four almost grown kids and though my husband and I are very happy I know that life is a long discussion of what's next and best for everyone, with compromises all around.
As Anna said before the "Madrid/or elsewhere decision," Becks has given others so much joy over the years that wishing him success, and every happiness with his family, is the very least I can hope for him.
His fans know him as the completely focused, life-long footballer. Drives me nuts too when people choose to let brand, politics, etc blind them to the football that is right in front of their eyes. Yes, very happy that the focus has come right again.
By the way, I do think U.S. sports fans will look at the athlete. Much as we appear to be a star-struck culture we are pretty serious about sports and excited by great players.

This report from the BBC says that David will NOT feature in what is described as a "fly-on-the-wall documentary". I am happy Becks will not be in it.

"Ex-Spice Girl Victoria Beckham is to star in a fly-on-the-wall documentary about her forthcoming move to the US after signing a £10m deal with NBC.
The programme will "look inside her world", her spokeswoman confirmed, but will not feature her footballer husband David, or their three sons.

Beckham's spokeswoman said that the precise details of the series were still to be finalised, and gave no timescale for transmission."

:) Hi Anna, even though we know better, its hard to ALWAYS keep up the "believe it when we see it" policy regarding anything to do with the Beckhams! But it was very interesting to read what others have to say regarding media and general perceptions about them.
It often seems that Becks is the only one, amidst so many of the "story" frenzies, who remains completely unconfused. Never ceases to amaze me that someone can be so solid. A unique person as well as footballer. And good for him!

NBC have not confirmed the format as just her, no matter what some press say, I really do have it on good authority that it won't be... they are fighting over it but NBC are not going to be prepared to accept 180 minutes of TV with her and no appearance from him. I just wanted to say it really made me laugh that Posh rang The Sun up and made sure that the press will know where Brooklyn's birthday will be. David Beckham would never do a like totally trashy thing like that. She is such a media whore. I guess if the papz now turn up to the Hard Rock Cafe in droves, she will cry and scream that they ruined her day? The kindest thing you could call her is stupid!
