Will David Beckham be recalled?
Today Capello will name the squad for the match against Real Sociedad. Over the last week, since Real Madrid stumbled to defeat against Levante, there has been a campaign in the spanish press to have David Beckham recalled. Guti and Pavon have added their voices to the comments previously made by Raul, Casillas, Van Nistelrooy, Salgado and Helguera. There have been votes "encuestas" that have shown there is strong public support for David Beckham. Marca dedicated 2 of their covers this week to the issue. The first cover story asked that David Beckham no longer be left in the stands but in accordance with the wishes of the players, the fans and even the board, be allowed back into the squad. The second cover story reported David Beckham's desire to play, to help his team and to be allowed to say good-bye in a fitting way to the Madridistas. AS ran stories every day this week as well including today's report that the club insists Capello recall Becks, you can read an english version of this story here.Today we will see if the pleas from the public and the players have had any influence on Capello and if the rumors that others in the hierarchy at Real madrid have requested he change his stance, will translate into a squad recall for David Beckham.
It is hard in the face of Capello's recent behavior to have much optimism, however, there is hope. The demands to recall him have reached a fever pitch. He enjoys wide-spread support. This support is a tribute to David Beckham. His professional approach and the dignified silence he has maintained in the face of unprovoked lies and attacks have earnt him much respect and deservedly so. In a few hours we will see...

Hi Ben :)
I don't know. A week ago I would have said theres no hope and I still don't think there is a lot but there has been huge support for him this week and no man is an island, not even Capello. It may come down to who has influence and whether Calderon and Mijatovic are feeling nervous enough about their jobs to want to bow to public opinion. Would Capello recall him of his own free will? No chance - the hope lies in whether Capello is leaned on, to be blunt.
