YES!! David Beckham back in Squad

David Beckham recalledDavid Beckham has been recalled to the Real Madrid squad that will travel to play Real Sociedad tomorrow. Story online. You can also read coverage on AS.com and view the squad list here.

Today's training session write up and photos are now on the Real Madrid official site. The training report makes special mention of David Beckham saying (translation via babelfish)- "When the group took to the pitch at 11:00am on Friday, everyone knew that David Beckham would be named, hours later, in the squad list. Many team-mates had called for and supported the return of the English midfield player to return to the squad to travel to San Sebastián with the rest of the team. Beckham, could not stop smiling, was happy throughout training and worked with more desire if that is possible, to show thanks for his recall."

There are also some photos of David Beckham from yesterdays training session in the gallery

I hope that if he does play

he remains injury free
has a good game
and won't get blamed if they loose

Ben - there's been plenty of bad news let's take a moment out to at least enjoy some happy new for him and for us for one day.

I know he may not get many minutes, no one is being unrealistic, but to be in the squad, to travel with his team mates to be in the dressing room, small things, but a step up nevertheless from spending away games at home in Madrid, these are things that Becks wants.

Someone else mentioned he might be blamed if RM lose, but look at it this way - Capello thought nothing of carving up his reputation when he hadn't even been in the squad, David Beckham if nothing else, is in the position where his detractors will hate on him regardless of facts and those who are loyal to him are used to him being the brunt of unfounded attacks and know to ignore it, so I think in a way he is safe on that score. Also I really think they can win this, I think it will lift the entire teams spirits to have joined together to support him and make this happen, I think this will be a shot in the arm and also Real Sociedad are not a very good team lol (thankfully!)

I hope he has a good injury free game too :)

I was so happy to read the news we've been waiting for.
But I too have to admit to the fleeting (ok more than fleeting) thought that Capello is too nasty to make such a simple decision, and now has a convenient scapegoat for anything that goes wrong for the rest of the season.

Sorry...reading so much dirt over the last few weeks has wrecked havoc on my normally optimistic disposition!

I promise to pull myself together and join you, Anna, in hoping the morale boost will make for more fun, exciting (and successful) football. The whole team certainly deserves it and it would be such a blast to watch again.

Why worry about what happens if he plays and is blamed?

the only alternative is for him not to play and that is not a better option for him.

as someone said Capello attacks him when hes not in the squad anyway

so best to be in the squad at the very least.

I'm happy if he is happy! jejejeje :o)
