In a further twist in the Real Madrid to play LA Galaxy story that AS.com published and LA Soccer News reported as being untrue, President Calderon has told the official Real Madrid website that a tour to the US is being planned for June. However, clearly it is still in the planning stages and we'll no doubt hear more if and when fixtures are confirmed, story here.

I'm so excited I just got David Beckham's autobiography "Both feet on the ground"!!!!!!!!!!! ,and I just started it but I already love it. It amazing how involved he with soccer even before he was born. Sorry just kind of excited here. Being a Beckham fan I doubt I could ever dislike anything about him. Hey have you thought about the fan's club yet? Really really interested

I've read that book and it is amazing!!. Loved how he was always passionate about soccer and the Manchester United, but loved even more the fact that he is willing to sacrifice that and everything soccer has given him for his wife and children. It shows how much he loves his family; it is just natural for him because he has that great heart of his. I'm also waiting for the answere over the fan's club thing I would totally love to be in it.That is if u decide to do it

What did you want a fan club to offer or be? I have looked at a couple and they are just fan sites like this with news and photos etc but they seem to sell merchandise and charge money while this site is a free one and I don't sell anything. I guess I need a better idea of what you actually mean by fan club. I'd be happy to look at doing something I'm just trying to understand exactly what it is people would like to see.

Having said that, I can describe what some fan clubs do. I think what people usually envision is something that might communicate with the subject in some way, organize letters of support when called for (which you did here for knee recovery encouragement and it seems to have worked!), raise money for the subject's favorite charities and work with their staff on other things like that which they might like fans to help get the word out about. It depends on whether the subject wants fans to be involved in such things, whether they encourage this kind of club at all, or even if they have staff available to contact. Some clubs have newsletters, probably not necessary with this site--although they usually include exhaustive listings of appearances/schedules/broadcast info. Clubs often sell t-shirts and other merchandise to cover costs. (Some even help answer mail, but I think Mr Becks is beyond that.) You would know more about whether his organization might be open to communicating with this type of group and whether you would proceed without at least some contact. Obviously there is hope that the subject will know of, appreciate or even respond to the club, but most fans would know that's not often possible.
I'm basing all this on music fan clubs I covered awhile ago, but I know there are at least several for baseball players in the U.S.--especially when there is a charity the player focuses on.
The FC on-line fan clubs usually have forums, as well as notice boards announcing things like fan get-togethers in different areas--sometimes to watch games at local pubs, or have kick-arounds/picnics, sometimes to organize group travel to matches in other cities or countries.
Is this the kind of thing those requesting fan clubs are talking about?
It's a BIG job unless members take on tasks and they are often started and run by committees. But then you lose influence over substance if you don't coordinate it all yourself.
