David Beckham playing for Manchester UnitedDavid Beckham was interviewed on MUTV last night and tipped Manchester United to repeat their treble success of 1999 in the current season. He was also generous in his praise of Sir Alex Ferguson. The interview was part of the build up to next Tuesday’s charity gala match which Becks will attend. You can read his comments online here.

The soap opera that is Real Madrid continues, with Roberto Carlos advising the press last night that he will not renew his contract and will leave the club on the same day as David Beckham (details are at Marca.com). He told reporters that he would contune to play football but he has no plans as yet. He’ll be missed.

Real Madrid remain alive in one competition and it would be something special for the many friends who will part ways at the end of this season to do so on a high. So let’s all hope for a win on Saturday! They are due some good fortune, surely!

The papers are reporting this morning that David Beckham’s MLS debut is now expected to be against Chelsea on July 21 rather than in Toronto in August… time will tell, details here.
