Manchester United v UEFA XI

charity gala match

As you all know David Beckham will be attending tomorrow's charity gala match at Old Trafford. Injury has sadly prevented Becks from playing as planned but he will attend and take to the pitch briefly ahead of the game to say a fond farewell to the clubs fans who will finally have a chance to thank him and salute him for the great service he gave to the club during his time there.

For any of you attending or planning to watch the match on TV the final squad is -
Goalkeepers: Oliver Kahn (Bayern Munich), Gregory Coupet (Lyon), Iker Casillas (Real Madrid)

Defenders: Paolo Maldini (AC Milan), Jamie Carragher (Liverpool), Eric Abidal (AS Roma), Lilian Thuram (FC Barcelona), Carles Puyol (FC Barcelona), Marco Materazzi (Inter Milan), Fabio Grosso (Inter Milan), Gianluca Zambrotta (FC Barcelona)

Midfielders: Steven Gerrard (Liverpool), Juninho (Lyon), Florent Malouda (Lyon), Luis Miguel (Valencia), Gennaro Gattuso (AC Milan), Andrea Pirlo (AC Milan)

Forwards: Ronaldinho (FC Barcelona), Ronaldo (AC Milan), Alessandro Mancini (AS Roma), Zlatan Ibrahimovic (Inter Milan), Henrik Larsson (Helsingborgs)

Such a shame Becks can't play I 'm sure he would have really enjoyed it!

The match will be televised live on the BBC. It will be on Starhub Super sports for those of you in Asia who get that channel. It will also be shown on MUTV. Hopefully the BBC will put a clip of David Beckham's appearance online as it is not being televised at all where I live *cries*

wow! what a line up! like fantasy footie come to life except my team would always have Becks in it :( I wonder what they'll do play half of them the first half and the others the second half? I mean they wouldn't bring all those big names over and then have half of them do nowt but sit on bench?

Hi there, I don't know what the plan will be but I would think it will all be a bit of fun as it's a charity gala and they'll all get a run out! It must be nice for the players to basically have a bit of a kick around with no points and titles at stake they can just enjoy the football for it's own sake, no pressure! I wish Becks was playing but still I'm looking forward to him being there!

Yeah, I heard that and Puyol and Thuram from Barcelona did not make the trip either in fact of the 4 players from Barcelona only 1 is actually going to be there - zambrotta. Still to be honest, I have absolutely no interest in any Barcelona player and I don't really mind there absence - so long as enough turn up to make up the numbers. I do feel sorry for the 70,000+ tho who bought tickets expecting to see a number of players who won't be there at all but such is life in football, injuries etc unfortunately happen.

I didn't get the match on until about five minutes before the squads came out of the tunnel--did I miss Becks on a pre-game show? :(
