Real Madrid admit mistake
Real Madrid Sporting Director Pedja Mijatovic has finally admitted that David Beckham's departure is due to a mistake by Real Madrid and is a source of regret, full story. Mijatovic blames press confusion but it is a weak excuse as the Real Madrid hierarchy chose to conduct negotiations and communicate via the press, this was not forced upon them. They had both the means and opportunity to sit down with David Beckham and make sure that all parties were clear, they didn't do it.Becks supports Malaria No More
David Beckham appears in a public service announcement on behalf of Malaria No More (visit www.malarianomore.org to find out more about this worthy cause) that asks people to donate money for malaria nets to help protect under-priveleged children in Africa against the disease. it is sad Ana, hindsight is 20/20 and all we can do know is hope and pray that Real Madrid would win the league title so that Beckham would go on a high note.

Its really awful that Real didn't try to keep him but even worse that when he said ok I don't think they want me so I'm outta here they turned all nasty and told lies to the press about David having a house bought and things. I hope he wins something. He was always too good for that club they never deserved him and like Roberto Carlos said they just used him and now they finally see what idiots they are...everyone else has known they are idiots for a long time

I'm sorry, but I am driven to take a moment (or dozen) to rant! I can't believe Milajovic refers to RM's mistake as not telling Becks they WANTED him to stay. How about the club/coach's meeting, the Monday before Becks made his decision, which produced a list of players to get rid of with Beckham in the top three (and no denial from RM), and then two days later Becks gets left off the squad while fit, for the first time in his four years with the club? A pretty clear message, timed as it was, the day before Beckham's management were due to arrive for a final discussion of RM's contract offer.
Amidst all the other insults, that meeting was hastily brought on by a club ultimatum that Becks make an immediate decision about whether or not he would stay, reversing its agreement to give him another two months to see if he was going to work into Capello's "plans for the team." As Anna says, what was he supposed to think?
Still, one would assume that at SOME point during their meeting with his management, the club might have had an opportunity to mention their desire for Becks to stay on!
I was getting up steam to go on to the weeks of hideous behavior on the club's part, following Becks' decision, but that's a little past the moment mentioned and will only get me angrier--if possible.
I will just try not be even more sad for both the RM fans and Becks following this rubbish.
If I was more excited about Becks' next move, I would say who wants to play for such a corrupt, disorganized and dishonest club anyway -- but it makes me a little nervous to see how the Galaxy have been playing. However, they have two months to improve, so you never know...
Sorry again about the rant. There are so many wonderful things to read about David Beckham these days, and five more games with RM to enjoy--and pull for. Time for me to take Becks' universal advice and not think about the past!
