Terry backs David Beckham
update - Back to the hat! Training report in english here.
John Terry, England captain, was interviewed on the BBC's Inside Sport last night and praised David Beckham as both a captain and a player, he was asked if David Beckham was too good to ignore [for the England national team] and he replied -
(Source) Yes, of course. He’s a fantastic player. That’s Steve McClaren’s decision to pick and drop players, but he’s still a world-class player.
He’d love to come back for his country and play.
Taking over from such an iconic captain as David Beckham was a tough act to follow. He changed the role of England captain in many ways.
But first and foremost he was a fantastic player and still is.
Real Madrid to appeal
As.com reports that Real Madrid will appeal the yellow card David Beckham received on Sunday. The club will dispute the card before the competition committee today. If that is unsuccessful they will make a further appeal on Thursday, details here. If the appeal is successful, David Beckham will be able to play against Sevilla. It would be the perfect birthday present and it would also be a fair outcome because the yellow card really wasn't justified as you will see in the clip of the incident that I've added above.Cicinho Thanks Becks
Cicinho has singled out David Beckham for thanks in an interview with AS (online here). Cicinho returned to the first team after a long absence due to injury and played very well on Sunday against Athletic. He said that Becks had spoken with him before the match, telling him that he could play his natural attacking game and that he would cover him. It is clear that Becks support meant a lot. Cicinho also said "It's incredible to share the wing with Beckham. He is simply spectacular. I have never seen anyone hit the ball so well. It will be a shame if he misses the match against Sevilla due to suspension because the booking he got in Bilbao was completely unfair." You can read all of Cicinho's interview in english on the Real Madrid official site. Finally The Sun has quite an interesting piece on all the houses that Posh and Becks have lived in over the years from Becks childhood home in Leytonstone through to their latest reported purchase.

wtf? He didn't do anything... the ref should have just said yep they are far enough or got them to move he wasn't time wasting you can see he and Cicnho are protesting about where the athletico players are standing... absurd.

Me ol' pals tweedle dee and tweedle dum :) the other thing that didn't make sense to me was who time wastes deliberately and to gain advantage at 3-0? At 3-2 ok maybe players start to time waste but at 3-0 there's just no reason to be worried about running down the clock I t will be a shame if the lad misses Sevilla thats for sure...

ok I think I can translate the interview.
Somebody mentioned to him that "It was the second time in the season he had to win Capello's trust" and he answered to that by saying, "For me the game in Bibao was really important because I had to prove that I can be an important player for Real Madrid in the future. Yeah, sometimes I do go up a lot, but it's not because I want to shine, or show off, personally. It's because I'm used to playing like that since I started playing in Brazil, and in this I have to thank Beckham. Before the game he told me "you can go up as many times as you want, and I will back you".
Sorry it might not be the best translation, but that's exactly what he said.

This is one of the first things I say about Becks' game beyond the obvious. He is an incredibly generous teammate. He is a great mentor and it is often mentioned that this is one of the things that made him a great captain. I've never been the fluttery kind of fan, but this was one quote that warmed my heart above others.
Not that John Terry's quote wasn't fantastic either.

Thank you so much for the translation the literal english translation was "beckham said I could rise up and he would be to cover me" and so I wasn't quite sure - I knew it was something to tell him to play the way he wanted and that Becks would support him etc - so I think the spirit is similar... I hope :)

thanks for the translation.

Thanks for the translation and also the clip... I can't even see what the ref is objecting too. The opponent players must be a certain distance from the spot that the referee indicates the free kick is to be taken from, the ref should address this not punish Becks.

i just saw the clip. first, thanks for uploading. second, i'm glad they are appealing, i didn't get the objection either.

that booking is very harsh... becks had spoken to the ref earlier about the fact he was doing nothing about some of the really dangerous tackles...maybe he'd pissed him off and thats why he was so petty?

RM shd defo appeal..... that was rubbish!!
