David Beckham by the numbers
Update - The training report in spanish is online and there are lots of cute photos of Becks from training in the gallery.
I haven't updated the statistics area of the site since Sara and I started it almost a year ago and it needs a lot of work - it's on the to do list! In the meantime - here are the statistics to date for the 2006/2007 season for La Liga for those of you who would like to know how many minutes David Beckham has played, how many goals he has scored and how many assists he has made etc. Full details.
In other news, football legend Pele has described David Beckham's move to the US as "almost the same" as his own, full story.
The Real Madrid site advised yesterday that first team players would receive new cars today from Audi and also be going on a sports driving course. So I'll be on the look out and will be back with news and any photos later. Details here.

The RM site does make it sound like everyone but I don't know if Becks and Roberto Carlos would be given new cars with only six weeks remaining on their contracts - maybe they will be, I really don't know :)

The Realist says: watch for all RM sponsors to scramble like crazy for photo ops with Becks before he slips out of their picture (but I bet they won't be showering Calderon and Mijatovic with gifts quite yet) ;-\
They all deserve prizes and full team photos after each of these games as far as I'm concerned though, so it would be nice to see them together!

Diane, I tend to agreee with you but I don't like to say he'll be there if they haven't specifically said he will as there have been a couple of "team" things in the last coupole of months where every member of the squad was included except for Becks and RC.
Gabriel I'm not English my parents are English though but they migrated from Manchester before I was born. I am a kiwi - a New Zealander :)

Our poor boys HAVE been viley neglected } -/. Becks and RC might not be available anyway because they are very busy men ;-)...hopefully off being well loved and appreciated as they deserve!!! (Oops, just noticed the new photo...looks like that didn't need much hoping for!!)

Beautiful the image of Beckham with our Cannavaro captain between they is feeling, we have felt an interview of Cannavaro given to a program with a lot audience in Italy in which he exalted the dowries of David above all those human and we are sure that Cannavaro will always defend it. Becks going to the US is a change for every single fan no matter where they live. All fans have feelings about where he plays, regardless of proximity to the home ground. Personally I wish he was still at Manchester United and I'm not exactly around the corner from Old Trafford lol

Cicinho's one is impressive. 6 matches and 3 assists.
Becks one is also very good because from the 19 matches he played, many of them were only during some minutes. So 4 assists in 19 matches (not exactly 19, if you count the minutes played) is very good.
Cicinho didn't played that well against Espanyol, probably because Becks wasn't on the pitch.
I think both of them together are a great duo. They really play nice football together. It's like they played for years together.
Nothing can be compared with Becks and Neville. But Becks and Cicinho it's a good partnership.

yup ana, I too wished that he stayed with ManU, even though Becks have taken with his Real Madrid team mates at once, I remember when the news broke that Becks was sold to Real Madrid, all the news stations particularly BBC and CNN international (where most of the anchors are english) start their news by saying, "i can't believe we are going to lose beckham" and they kept on discussing it on air despite them having to report other news and I don't remember any player in recent memory that garnered such reaction from the public, media etc.

Yeah - I wouldn't want that to come out the wrong way. It's not that I don't like RM and that I don't think his team mates are sweeties it was just really hard for those of us who grew up with him and gazza and keano and scholesy and giggsy to not miss "our favourite boy" match days and of course it was especially hard because he was a Red just like we are Reds and it was sad because the club that I love behaved really badly and didn't come clean until months later and to this day there are still people that think he chose to leave when he was sold - when he came back in March he said it would always be home and for me I guess he'll always just be "out on loan" :)
