Michael Owen backs Becks

Michael Owen spoke with press ahead of tonight's match where he will captain England B against Albania and said
(Source) I take an interest in how Madrid are doing and David in particular. He has had a great time of it of late. I watched him the other day and he put in some great crosses. He is playing very well and I am pleased for him.

The squad hasn't been named. Yes the press are expecting Becks to be recalled and it is exciting but we still have to wait until Saturday morning and the official word. :)

David was sadly always taken for granted, its nice to see that people now realize how important he was/is to the teams.

i can't take the wait. i swear. but if he gets the news before the game, i'll say it will be a great start to his day.

Come on McClaren!!! Come on!!! Don't be so stupid and unfair again.

I remember the day Becks announced he would go to the US at the end of the season, all the English press were already saying earlier in the morning that he would announce that day that he would play for LA Galaxy.

Hope they are completely right again. :-D

Looking forward to Saturday.
It would be amazing for him to come back, a big boost. He really loves to play for England and to me is much better to watch him play for England than Madrid, because I don't like RM.

But what matters is that he would be the happier guy if he is called back.
And if he's happy, I'm happy. :-)

Hi Loredana :) We will have to wait a little longer for definite news because Steve McClaren has delayed naming the squad from Friday night to Saturday morning. I wish he'd just get on with it lol

Tanique, Becks will know ahead of the Deportivo game because that's not until 7pm UK time and the squad will be named in the morning.

Sieniestro - I hope the media have it right too because of course Becks deserves it but also because it would be cruel to have all this build up for him and for us, if he isn't included. Doesn't bear thinking about!

oh btw I meant to say that it seems very likely the media do have it right because The Independent actually talks about how Becks won't do interviews etc so they seem to have an awareness of all the plans and how the whole recall will be handled from a press perspective which makes sense because when Becks was left out of the squad last August certain newspaper journalists were part of McClaren's inner circle and journo's from The Independent were amongst those popping in and out of Soho Square for cups of tea.

Yep. Yep. Yeppers. I think it sounds pretty definite! Great stuff. McClaren couldn't find his *** with both hands but he still knows he needs Becks to save it :) Main thing is our lad getting a run out at Wembley, brilliant!

I won't be home from tonight to monday morning so it will be very hard for me not to know anything; I hope I'll be back to read good news...

To the person above, if you don't like David, why loosing your time here with posting a comment? You are sad...

this news is great lets cross our fingers and hope he does get called back because that would mean everything to Becks and us. It could also have a great impact, on how he will play in RM Sunday and all the other games they have left. They could totally go out there and win the title.

Hi Laurance,
If you go to an internet cafe for a cup of coffee, you can peek in here to see the news with us -- hope/hope/hopefully good!!!!!!!!!!!!

For years the Becks/England issue has brought out the worst in a very tiny group of very vocal nitwits, who post absurdly angry comments wherever they can. They do seem under a full moon (at all times) since they write as if they are frothing at the mouth ;-) Sorry they found their way here, and thanks for tossing them Anna!

Beautiful photo, I haven't hung a wall poster since the dinosaur days, but this might be the exception...

anna yes, i know the game is at 7. i just meant if the news comes on saturday, it will be an exciting day for him, and a great way to start the morning.

i still can't wait. all the signs are pointing one direction.

another good thing, we'll get interviews with him talking about the recall. i'm never one to turn down an interview.

Diane, if you knew where i'm going for the w-e... in a small village back in the mountains... It's very beautiful but they hardly know about internet there!
And anyway no one would understand why i would absolutely need to go to internet!! My husband knows I like Becks but he doesn't know how much I like him!! ;-))

Lighting a candle in the church tomorrow will be a good start to have good news :-)) Last 2 times it worked!

perhaps there is one person with a laptop in the small village, laurance? lol

if lighting candles works, keep lighting them. i'm superstitious too, with sports, but i'm not telling my routine. lol.

Laurance, I know what you mean about people not completely understanding the need to know. I try to keep a low profile when (if?) possible because my whole family already thinks I'm batty! But it is very hard during this couple of months ;-))...and I'm not sure my husband would be that amused during a weekend away either!
This could be your biggest breathing challenge, so be sure to keep that up...

Tanique, I don't know the meaning of laptop. i can't even find it in my big english dictionary...
Erm... I'm not supertitious (I do walk under ladders whenever I can!)
I'm just a believer :-/

Diane, I didn't know what to be batty mean, but i could find it in my dictionary! I guess we all are a little bit batty to be such fans!
I'm not sure it's quite "normal" :-) For me I've always been someone's fan(musicians, singers or sportsmen) since I was a teenager (as you said Diane, it was dinosaur days...) and it feels so good to have one's heart beating for someone.............

lol, the big english dictionary. laptop is a portable computer.

haha, you walk under ladders eh? i'll leave that to you. i'm only superstitious about sports. but i don't make it a point to walk under ladders.

i'm a believer with you. i belive in these group of guys at mardrid.

i agree, i think we should always have a little crush on someone. it makes life more interesting.

A laptop (poor smile...).
Some people have computers but it's very recent. Most people there are breeders or farmers... so laptops...
It's really the edge of the world up there!

A crush, it's the exact word :-))
Life is definitely more interesting. Even beautiful sometimes!!

Thanks for the latest info Anna (what time is it in NZ?! You're still working?!), it's great
... But I still don't like Capello, sorry. He's been so stupid with David a few months ago. You have to be named Mr Beckham to forgive that...

I like all the translating, and I'm glad crush is the same in any language! I feel more like I have adopted all these boys (hence all the worrying and why I sometimes sign "auntie"!). But we all feel the same when they do well or when they are disappointed. When people give so much to the world I think it is nice to care so much about them in return...it's the least we can do ;-D !
