I have finally completed the gallery of photos of David Beckham from the awards. I especially loved the photo above it really does Becks justice!
Thierry Henry, who presented Becks with the award, gave an interview to The BBC following the ceremony, he spoke at length about David Beckham (listen to his interview)and backed his re-inclusion in the England national team saying -
“He has never dropped his quality. He has been the most consistent player at Real Madrid. Maybe his quality was not appreciated with England before.
“What Beckham has done at Real Madrid has been unbelievable. I don’t want to say anything controversial, because to be the England manager is probably the hardest job in the country. But maybe when David was playing for England, people took him for granted. As soon as he’s not playing people call for him to be recalled and that speaks volumes.”
"The guy has been magnificent for English football."
David Beckham when asked about a recall was wisely cautious, simply saying
“Whether the chance will come up to play for England again, who knows. I've been so honoured to play and captain my country as many times as I have and everyone knows how I feel about playing for my country. If that chance comes, I’ve always said I’d be ready but let’s wait and see.”

don't hate me but I hope he doesn't get recalled! Cos England dont freakin deserve him and there will be such a fuss and what if he got injured with only 2 matches left in la liga?? nah forget england i want him to focus only on leaving madrid via cibeles!!!

Great words by Heny; he couldn't have said it better. Maybe England did take Becks for granted and didn't see and value him as the great soccer player and person he is. Anyways thanks for the pics, they are great.

Don't mention the i word! I have to run to the kitchen find salt and throw it over my shoulder now! David Beckham has said he wants to play for England so surely we should support his right to play for his country and to be selected on form for the current squad - and other considerations shouldn't come into it as players are sometimes injured in training as happened with Emerson and you can't wrap people in cotton wool or hope they won't get to play for their country when they want too simply because of injury fears.
Obviously we all hope that he wins the title with RM but I don't think his RM dream and England dream are in conflict he played for both a club and his country for over a decade and did so successfully after all.

Hi Tiette, what do you mean you can't play any of the videos do you mean the flash ones too? the one I've posted and the itn link go to clips that use flash - flash is what daily motion and you tube use - they all use the same thing and in the past you have thanked me for putting Real Madrid clips up in flash? I'm sorry if you can't view flash a lot of websites use it so no offense hunny but the web will be a frustrating place for you and you really need to look at your computer settings and the browser you use and try and find a way to view flash video as there is nothing I can do at my end - this is the best cross-platform technology there is, sorry.

oh good I'm glad you can see the flash as the link under Becks a great briton is for a video that is available as a flash file through the itn link so you haven't missed anything Tiette - brothers can be very helpful people :)
Usually I would have grabbed all the clips and put them on youtube but I'm afraid I don't have time at the mo :(

had to laugh at Bill and some of his comments about seeing Becks and his british heart trembling. The Becks fan club is getting some heavy duty acting talent signing up this week what with Dame Helen swooning all over the lad lol
