Real Madrid 3 - 1 Deportivo
The perfect end to a perfect day! Real Madrid remain La Liga leaders with a convincing win over Deportivo Coruna. David Beckham had another great game! The match report is on the official site. Amongst them is a photo of Becks running to give his shirt to a fan in the crowd! I bet that made their day!
Fabio Capello praised David Beckham in the post-match press conference saying "As I said yesterday David Beckham is playing better than he has in two years. He's in extraordinary conditions, with much quality, speed. He is in great form." Transcript here.
Team-mate Ruud Van Nistelrooy told reporters during his his post-match comments, that David Beckham was delighted with his England recall he said -

"Everyday leading up to it, we were talking about it and counting down the days to the announcement. It's so good to see a professional who has been through everything in the game and is so pleased to be called up for his country again.
"For me, only the true greats can have an attitude like that."
"It's a great feeling and I'm so happy for David," said Van Nistelrooy who also played alongside Beckham at Manchester United.
"He's turned it round himself by his mentality and qualities and many players would have said 'this is it for me' and he didn't and he deserves the credit for it. He's a player that belongs in the national team."

As the happiness is sweet. Our David is great Its happiness is also ours. England has found again its man symbol. Today my husband has bought the Gazzetta and is an interview much sincere one (to think that him he was in order to play in my beautiful country) I and my sons we will pray for him and its beautiful family. Hi <3 he did play brilliantly - the refs do seem to be giving him a hard time and he shouldn't have been booked but - well don't get me started on spanish refs lol
Deportivo were playing really dirty especially towards the end when some of the tackles and high kicks going in were pretty vicious. They won though that's what matters :))

thanks for the photos! one thing i notice was he is so happy during match but at end when clapping to the crowd he looks like he looks when they loses? seems he look like hes just about going to cry?

I made it to my little GolTV bar and managed to remain breathing throughout, but I do miss reading along with you guys during the celebrations!!
I noticed the pink bandaids too, but I was so happy that all the boys got away with their lives ;-) against that lot that I didn't rush to my usual panic!
To whoever mentioned the teary eyes...they're there at the end of every match at the Bernabau these days (probably on all of us soon...).
But for now, a GREAAAAAAAAAAAAT night!!!!!!! And what a three weeks to remain sane through!!!!!!!!!

It was like celebrating a winner goal when I heard it.
Seriously, I never believed it would happen again, only during this week, with all the stories coming out I start to have more faith.
And his first match after the recall will be at Wembley against Brazil. The place where I live and the place where I was born. Bloody hell!!! Amazing.

Now I don't need to explain to my family why Becks was out of the squad and the whole unfair situation.
Reading McClaren words it seems he considered Becks because of his amazing form at the moment and mainly because of his experience.
Maybe because McClaren is under pressure? I don't know and it does not matter at the moment, really.
The fact is that Becks is back and that's amazing, amazing, amazing.
God bless the May 26th, the day United won the 1999 CL and the treble and from now on the day Becks was recalled to the England squad.
God bless May, the best month of all the months.
And God Save the Queen, because now I'll support England again. :-D

this is the cure for migraine :) i actually watched some parts of the delayed telecast of the match, and the commentators was spot on when he said Beckham is '...Bernabeu's favorite son and that they love him there and they don't mind his off-pitch activities, the just love him :)' the commentator also mention 'how rude' the deportivo players are...' Can't wait to see Beckham in Wembley :)

Hiya Marie - it was a really nice interview he said a lot of lovely things, I liked the tributes he paid to people like Zidane and Roberto Carlos! It's nice when he talks about his kids - little Cruz running around in his Real Madrid shorts awwww :)

Awwww. David was so sweet! I didn't like what some of the people said about him. I think he's on top of his game now! LOL when they said he watches too much soccer or football. I love how he was such a gentleman.
