The game of the year!

The last two days editions of Marca have billed this weekends game between Real Madrid and Sevilla as the match of the year! (The covers are in the gallery) Going into this weekend the top of the table is as follows:
1. Barcelona 62
2. Sevilla 61
3. Real Madrid 60

The squad list is online now. As.com reports that Fabio Capello is expected to stick with the same starting line-up as he fielded last weekend against Athletic Bilbao, including David Beckham who had the yellow card he received in that match rescinded on Thursday. (Source) Sevilla are missing Navarro, Adriano and Navas, three players that would have featured, due to injury.

Fabio Capello told the pre-match press conference that he is very happy with the teams spirit and attitude. He also said he was happy that David Beckham’s yellow card was rescinded because he is a very important player for the team, transcript here.
David Beckham would love to leave Real Madrid on a high note and I know we all wish this for him and the team, so cross everything you can cross, get your rabbits foot, four leaf clover or shamrock, wear your lucky shirt or your lucky pants, light a candle, say a prayer – and hope for the very best of luck for Becks and the team. Thanks to Ben, our man on the MLS beat, we have the following to report and we will confirm this info closer to the dates -
* David Beckham is expected to feature on the cover of the July 11 edition of Sports Illustrated. LA Galaxy are rebranding and details of their new kits, colors and logo will be released in conjunction with this.
* LA Galaxy management have indicated that as part of David Beckham’s ambassadorial role he will spend a lot of time interacting with fans at away games. After each match, fans will have the opportunity to meet Becks. The exact details are not known as the Galaxy are still trying to gauge the public interest in their designated player, but the signs are that David Beckham could be more accessible than many star players in other sports in the US.

I will help you guys and RM by not watching the game than, because it seems that I have really bad luck with teams. It seems that almost everytime I watch a game my team loses, so i will try and sacrifice watching Becks.

Anna, the part of the salary story that focuses on Becks in comparison to other MLS players will settle down once the pundits and sports fans start comparing Beckham's income to what other U.S. athletes and European football players make, which they will.What I hope does get the attention it deserves is that the MLS Players Association made a really bad deal by agreeing to this contract until 2010. Its not acceptable that huge investments are being made in infrastructure and marketing, in this push to make MLS successful, but not in paying players a living wage. I'm hoping that will become the focus because recipients of the lowest salaries are actually eligible for the dole! Finally we have reparred the computer and we have seen the latest news. The clips are only viewable through youtube, you can grab the flv file out of your cache or make a screen recording of the clip if you want – I've seen other people do this with clips I've made but I don't make the original clips available for download sorry as I don't have the bandwidth – which is why I put the clips on youtube

I had a feeling that was you Marie! People say the players union leaked that salary info to embarrass MLS/owners into raising the lowest ones, but they should just come out and say it! There is SO much money being thrown around there right now, its sinful how little those kids make. And then of course all eyes go to Becks and one or two other higher earners — who don't make policy (what else is new…all bosses are alike ;-D ! ).I am trying not to think about the match until it starts, but its not easy :-S . I'm keeping the smiles and good spirits from this week's training in mind, and sending best wishes to the whole squad constantly!!!!D

Now that was some game…lived up to it's billing that's for sure. Now they've come through these tough ties with Valencia and Sevilla and barring any silly slips they are in good shape for the title if they can maintain winning form Barca have Betis next there toughest tie should be the week after that…away to Atletico Madrid…I'm hoping Atletico can put them to the sword.
