YES! Becks is back!
David Beckham has been recalled to the England squad.
He has been waiting almost 10 months, since he was unfairly left out of the squad to face Greece, for this moment, but David Beckham is a patient man. He has never complained, or criticized, he has never uttered a word in frustration or impatience. He has always been gracious in the face of provocation because David Beckham is a man of dignity, a man of quiet strength and character. He has known what he wanted, he has focussed with singular purpose and has possessed the wisdom to never place obstacles in his own path.
The road back has at times been long and hard, David Beckham may know it's a round world but at times he must have wished it would turn a little faster. Still he has never given up, he has continued to train, to play and to wait. Today his determination is rewarded. It has been a difficult season but as we enter the final weeks, David Beckham, who Fabio Capello would "never play again", is a first team regular at Real Madrid and competing with his team-mates to win La Liga and next Friday he will play for his country again.
A great deal will be written about his recall, but somethings are beyond words. Becks will savour the comraderie, every step down the tunnel, the sound of the crowd, the first touch of the ball, the chance to wear the shirt and play for his country again. He will realise a hope he has held in his heart for almost 10 months. There aren't words for that.

i was like you, i've always wished it. but it was only yesterday did i have a moment of doubt. so many signs were pointing towards it, i thought he might just be stubborn and stick to his decision. so, i was prepared for the worst, and it makes it SOOO much more satisfying that he got it.

Yes it is a pity Gary is out and also Owen Hargreaves but some old buddies like Michael Owen and Phil Neville will be there as well as quite a few others.
I will have to pull everything together later as with the game and everything theres gonna be a trillion news entries today but one sweet story is that Bentley has got his first senior call and he was interviewed in the Times about 3 months ago because he was the hero of the U-21's and he said how Becks was his hero and was really outspoken about how wrong it was that Becks was left out of the national team and now he's got his first cap with his hero - so that's a nice "awwww" story right there! :)

seeing him on the squad is enough, and yes seeing his with his other friends will be great. but, it's gary. so, i'm always going to want to see them together. but, like i said, i know they'll get the chance to, again.

Great news and great clips and stories Anna! Very happy for Becks...the inaugural England match at Wembley...so appropriate. He deserves to be in the squad and he SO deserves to play at Wembley.
I'm not sure people realize how much work he put into getting it built as England Captain. LOL it's pretty clear most people don't know how much extra work being captain requires period, and the press certainly don't rush to cover that! Although Gary Neville has talked about the captain having to be there at union negotiations, dispute resolution meetings, etc, with press duties and generally representing the team being more obvious.
Becks did it all, plus, and if anyone deserves to walk out on that pitch with the team it is he...for his talent, form, passion, generosity as a teammate, in-house cheerleading, AND for his years of off-pitch service as well.
Among the many reasons I don't credit reports of all this dressing room drama is that the players know Becks came early and stayed late to do that work and they are also aware that, like any other captain, he never mentioned it or asked for credit (a perfect opportunity if one were "glory seeking").
Fantastic first "result" of the weekend!!!!!!!!! And all my hopes now set on tonight!
