Estonia 0 - 3 England

David Beckham gave a man of the match performance in Tallinn to inspire England's 3-0 win over Estonia. Becks provided two brilliant assists for Peter Crouch and Michael Owen and received a standing ovation from the England fans when he came off in the 68th minute. You can read The BBC match report here and The FA match report online here. The first of the photos are in the gallery.
David Beckham post match interviews
You can view David Beckham's interview with The BBC here and watch his interview with Sky sports here. Also here are some quotes from Sky sports, -"I think I've enjoyed the two weeks we have been together. It has been nice to be back with the lads, there is a great atmosphere in the team and the game against Brazil set us up for this game. We didn't win the game, but we performed well and played good football and the shape looked great."You can read more comments from David Beckham in The Independent
"We were set up for this tonight and I think we have done the job and enjoyed the game."
"We have scored some goals, played some good football and I think confidence is coming back."
Beckham feels he will be fit for Madrid's clash with Real Zaragoza on Saturday. "I have got a big game on Saturday but I was only thinking about tonight," he said. "Now my head is on Saturday. "I twisted my ankle and it was painful, but I should be fine."
Beckham will head to LA Galaxy at the end of the season in Spain and there is some doubt over his position with England, but he is hopeful Steve McClaren will keep him in the fold. "I would love to be in the next squad," he added. "Steve has made it clear that if I am performing and playing as I have been then I will be in the squad."
"There is always pressure, but I will always want to play for my country."
"I have enjoyed the last couple of weeks and we will see what happens."

I agree Tanique I think he will most certainly be in the next England squad can't see how he could be left out now.
Anna, don't shoot me for treason and I do of course hope the lad is tickety-boo but as someone who has coached high-school footie I have to caution that the player is often times the worst judge, first they'll play when the limb is about to drop off and second they always think they will be fine in time. Which is not to say he won't be... just that I'll be happier when he gets to Madrid and we see hes able to train ok.
Thanks for pics too.

I am so glad Becks played so well. I was quite nervous about his injury, but he still managed 2 great assists! I am so proud of David of the last 4 England goals, David assisted in 3 of them! I juat hope his sprained ankle will be all healed for Saturdays match!!

Hi <3 so far it is only being reported as a twist, did you see it reported as sprained? *worried* a sprain is a bit more serious than a twist :(
4:06 PM
hope the ankle thing is not serious, and I agree with you Anna we shouldn't worry. It's great that he gave a man of the match perfomance and to see him playing brilliant and providing all those assists. He surely is having all that he deserves these past few weeks.
Oh and I'm glad the site is back; I was so worry yesterday that it would be like that for more than a day.

Oops, maybe I heard sprained instead of twisted.. lol. I cant wait for Real's match on Saturday. I dont know if I can take it, all the nervousness and excitement. Its nice to see in all the news stories how much praise David is getting, well deserved for him.
4:17 PM
thanks <3 that's cool :) It is nice to see him getting so much praise - it's a total Becks love fest long may it last :))

Leaving the particular ankle in question out of it, I love Syd's description of how players often view their own injuries. LOL I once spent a good part of a match wondering how one of my kids got their uniform completely muddy on dry ground...until I realized that the whole side of his leg was covered in blood, needless to say I was considered daft for asking him if he might like stitches at half-time!
Anyway, hoping for the best...

This is good news to wake up to :) did not get to watch the match, as it was not shown here live...however, I'm glad David had a great match and onwards to the La liga match. :)

Super Becks!
2 games, 3 assists.
Simply amazing. I'm just very happy.
It's difficult to describe with words.
He really deserves it and I'm just happy all the good things are happening with him and that he's playing his best football again.
Hope he stays in the squad.
And hopefully the injury is not serious. :-S
Man of the match again. Marvellous!
Great feeling to see Owen score from a Becks cross again. :-)

verguenza McClaren! can see David struggles and is in pain but not does it show proper care. No relieve even at 2-0?? what is team no players no subs?? you gamble the health against the power house of the equipment Estonia!!! 110 ranks pero Inglaterra is so weak??
