Becks attends Galaxy game
David Beckham watched the LA Galaxy lose 3 - 0 to Tigres UANL in their first 'World Series of Football' game today. Becks had an ice pack strapped to his left ankle through out the game, photos are in the gallery. There were some nice quotes from David Beckham's new team-mates in today's Guardian. Kyle Veris said "I got to work with him and he's a really down to earth guy... It's nice to have him as part of the team." Read more quotes here.
There is also an article in The Times with details of David Beckham's first few days in Los Angeles, including discussion of the pressures his injury creates. The article also mentions that he was reportedly trailed by 20 cars filled with paparazzi on a trip to get coffee and a Toys'R'us store had to be closed so he could buy new bicycles for his sons without being mobbed. The BBC has the latest on David Beckham's injury with coach Frank Yallop suggesting that it is 50/50 whether he will debut against Chelsea. Yallop also says that David Beckham's scheduled appearance at this Thursday's MLS All-star game against Celtic FC is being reviewed and will be confirmed closer to the time depending on whether it is thought the extra travel might further aggravate Becks injury.

Ciao to all! This night I have seen the game (the Galaxy has much need of the talent of David). I am worried for its ankle, he I would want to play against the Chelsea, but he must not have haste because its first left he will be observed from all the world, therefore is important to arrive in perfect physical conditions and then in August there will be the call for its country. The Galaxy need more than Becks talent! The lad is good but the team played really badly. I was shocked to be honest at the football. It would be unfair to the lad to expect him to be able to turn that around it's a team sport and I think it would take half a dozen new players to make a dent and maybe a new Manager? It was woeful. Sad but true.

Gosh he does seem to be getting more not less paparazzi attn. I hope that will lessen once the initial beckham mania is over.

was it really that bad? truthfully they were tactically inept, couldn't even get a decent shot on target let alone a goal and seemed to have no drive or determination. They sucked.

the match wasn't too good but I'm sure they will get better once Becks is playing. It is nice to read the comments from the other players about what a nice guy he is! maybe he can inspire :-)

Hiya Julie, yeah it was pretty bad to be honest. Still all teams have their bad days. I think they've had a lot of change and hopefully once Becks joins and they gel as a team they will improve.
Loredana, I'm glad you got to see the game and I agree it's best that Becks not hurry things theres a lot of MLS season left to play :)

Yes the ESPN Magazine is out in the States. Becks is on the cover of the current issue I had a look at the article no new pics and no original quotes unfortunately - just more people kicking the "can soccer grow or not" debate around.
