Hello Anna,
It is so cool that you post my information on your website. I could not believe it. I have more information to tell you, I was watching espn and they have a poll on there website entitled who's now. The poll is to see if David Beckham is better than L.T.I really do not know much of L.T., he is an American football player. The website has a video of a panel discussing the situation. Just go to espn.com , then go to the search box type in who's now, and then click on launch video. You will see a screen and a figure of David Beckham and L.T. we should vote for him because when you see the video, the panel do not know much about Beckham and it is a dam shame that they do not know the qualities of his game and who he really is as an athlete. You Rock, Anna. Corina.

Thanks Corina - the panel discussion is funny and scary!! they really have no clue who he is at all. I guess there will be people working hard to try and change that but they seem to know so little and what they do know seems to mean they hold some very strange prejudices and attitudes. I have to admit watching that didn't make me feel so good. Anyway I voted for him, I hope everyone else will too :) Thanks for the heads up I appreciate the info :)

it's kinda YIKES that they associate him more with Tom Cruise the couch jumper than with the fact he captained his country for 6 years and is the best dead ball specialist/expert in the game for what like 10 years now?? anyhoo i voted for him!! course!

We do not comprise that what says in the clips but from your comments we have understood that they have of the prejudgments towards David. Him sure knows that it will have to face these prejudgments, is this its first fight and we knowing its intelligence and how much him it is stubborn will succeed in the enterprise (in him loves the challenges) We augur to him and Victoria a good anniversary. Hi Loredana, Samuele and Gabriel :)I think you can vote more than once if you clear your cookies and your temporary internet files by going into your internet options and into internet tools but hopefully if everyone votes once it will be enough for him to win :)

i LOVED the debate, mostly because i love all of those guys. it may suck to hear, but the truth is david is known more here for the name, and the other stuff rather than performance on the pitch. i thought it was entertaining. some of what was said i obviously didn't agree with, but some i did.

but, i think it's a pretty fair representation of how david is probably viewed here.

I knew americans didn't have much idea who Becks was but I expected more from a show called SPORTS center.

Poor David is really going to have his work cut out for him. Well its good that he likes a challenge because this will be a huge challenge but its not like its one he can answer by himself it will take hundreds of people within MLS to change these kind of attitudes.

I voted!

I voted. The panel discussion was ugh. What disappointed me the most was not one of the three panelist mentioned Beckham's 1998 Treble winning ManU side or Real Madrid's Beckham-off-the-bench come-from-behind run to the La Liga Championship which just happend like, 10 days ago. I thought that's where Mike Wilbon was going when he started of with "But L.T. has never won a single playoff game...". This would of been a knowledgeable angle to take. But now I realize that Wilbon's just a name-dropping soccer poser who really has very little knowledge of the game or of Beckham's career. All they knew was he was married to Posh Spice and he has his own "fragrance"... very much unlike Micheal Jordan's obviously manly "cologne" ... (sigh)...

i didnt agree one bit! well yea that people over here doesnt know David. i knew David for like a long time but only his name and that he plays soccer. thats it. when i watched the WC 2006. thats when i went "thats David Beckham?" he got me into watching soccer and things like that. i think he could/would get other people into soccer if they at least watch 1 match. because after that one match. i was hooked! i think he could change people's opinion about soccer. im pretty mad that they only mention his celebrity status and who he hangs with and not his professional status. he is an icon! why didnt they mention that? and the fact that he won so many leagues and that he pretty much saved Real Mardid from losing La Liga. stuff about the fact that people over here doesnt know him and soccer very much. i agree but leave his celebrity life out of it. i thought ESPN was all about sports and not celebrities.

Duyen are you a girl? I just wondered because sure there will be some people who see one game with Becks and become big Becks fans (a lot of them will be girls like me) but if soccer is to really attract a much bigger following and be higher profile in the US long-term then people have to become fans of soccer and of the teams not just one player and so that will take a team effort from within the MLS.

For example there was talk of people wanting refunds if David doesn't play. That would never be mentioned if he couldn't play for whatever reason when he was at Manchester United or Real Madrid because people came to support the team too.

Becks will of course get a lot of people into the sport and taking notice that normally wouldn't but only a small percentage of these will become fans who will go to games when the LA Galaxy are not playing their home team unless the MLS does a lot of work to convert people from interested into soccer supporters.

Becks can't play in every stadium in the country every week, if they all sell out when he is in town but no other time that doesn't really represent a change in the position of soccer. That's why I say it will take the whole organisation.

David Beckham will be able to do a lot and he will have dedicated fans but the goal he and MLS have is bigger than that and will take a lot of work from everyone involved.

I just don't want unfair expectations on him as there's going to be a lot involved in making this sport much bigger in the US.

espn sportscenter in america, is not really well informed when it comes to sports outside there country which i find strange because they have sports center asia and europe and these two really know beckham and followed the real madrid saga all throughout. i just wondered why they did not get their foreign sportscaster to comment on beckham.
