David Beckham: New Beginnings

Above is an excerpt from the documentary David Beckham: New Beginnings which will be aired on ESPN at 7:30pm on July 21 ahead of Becks debut with the LA Galaxy against Chelsea FC.

The one-hour documentary follows David Beckham's journey from leaving Real Madrid to starting his new career across the Atlantic in Los Angeles in Major League Soccer. The documentary will include "unprecedented access" to David Beckham as he and his family prepare for their new life in America. It will also feature Becks recent comebacks – his recall to England’s national team and the important role he played in Real Madrid’s 2007 La Liga title campaign. It will include interview footage with Becks which will cover rejoining England’s national team, how his teammates reacted, reflections on playing for the national team for the first time at the new Wembley Stadium, and his thoughts on the future of his international career and Euro 2008 while playing for the Galaxy.

There will be Behind the scenes footage of the adidas “Futbol vs. Football” campaign spot with David Beckham and New Orleans Saints all-purpose running back Reggie Bush

It will feature highlights of Becks first week in Los Angeles – training with the Galaxy, his official introduction to fans at The Home Depot Center (July 13) and his trip to the 2007 Sierra Mist MLS All-Star Game July 19)

Finally, there will also be comments from some of the LA Galaxy’s celebrity fans such as Steven Spielberg on Beckham’s arrival.

As I previously posted on this site, the documentary will also be aired on ITV in the UK later in the month.

Thanks Ben! Well now we know the leak was accurate lol and that is definitely the logo etc. Also now we know it's white shorts with yellow bands. I still want to see the front of the away kit :) There is just soooo much happening it's hard to know what to give top billing too - I think I need to make more of a fuss of his first better quality pic in his kit - hmmm I'll see what I can do lol

the finished ad is better than the story boards thankfully! They have gotten rid of the shirt-seller scene and at least they have left the Bernabeu out. They have added a few bits that at least make it appear like there are a few blokers sad to see the lad go and they don't have the teen girls laying theirs heads down in grief in the UK or holding up don't go David signs at the airport someone has had the sense to tone down some of it but it's still not about footie at all and very unwelcoming to any fans outside of the US. As I said before do they not want my money? They'd rather I said good bye and cancelled my cable?

Anyway thanks for posting it Anna.

thanks ben, for the pic of hte kit. it's much better than the yellow one. i'm still not loving it, i like it. i'll need to get used to it.

as for the commercial, while it's not as bad as the storyboard suggested, i'd have still preferred them to just focus on him coming, not leaving.

thanks anna.

that ad is weird i know americans think they are the only ones on the planet and have some compulsive arrogant overly-aggressive need to one-up everybody but surely they must know that with the telly and the internet people around the world will still be following him just as presumably some of them have done over the last decade??

I found the image of european fans as all down in the dumps and of crying girls well pathetic really

it might be an ok ad for becks in the us but its a piss poor ad for the us in the rest of the world

ffs weird little isolationaists get over it!
