David Beckham gallery update
The gallery has resumed updates and there are a few more photos from Thursdays game. As well as a nice picture of Becks in the LA Galaxy away kit that Ben sent through. Thanks Ben!Rumors and speculation
The Daily Mail is reporting that Alexi Lalas is facing the sack and that Frank Yallop's job is also under threat, with the LA Galaxy languishing near the bottom of the table and looking increasingly likely to miss the play-offs, details here. I don't know if there is any real substance to the speculation... we can but dream...Speaking of people we would like to see sacked. Sportinglife reports that Steve McClaren has defended his decision to play David Beckham for the full game against Germany saying, "he needed 90 minutes". Of course about 30 hours later we all saw with our own two eyes just how much he needed those 93 minutes and how good they had been for him. I wonder if McClaren is familiar with the expression, "It is better to be silent and thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubt?"

Thanks Anna and Ben. That pic is amazing, I hope they issue it as a poster.

i luv me the away kit I gotta save up and get it :0)

Scilla,,It already is a poster. What a great sight, love coming here and reading.Live in the USA..Hopefully for all concerned there is a change in management, unfortunately that also could cause more havoc. I think if they get rid of Lalas it would be a great start. Yallop showed very poor manager skills. Maaybe they can persuade Klinsman to take the coaching job. From what I watch of McClaren he is not much better, so hopefully alot chages soon.
Again great sight

I still think the best decision is to talk and to try to solve the things.
I don't want LA Galaxy to become a circus like that Madrid "team".
They just need to talk.
They are doing mistakes? Yes they are.
The good results are not coming? Yes.
But patience and dialog are friends.
IF the LA Galaxy management do not learn from this situation, then some things should be changed.
But now, at this very moment, in the middle of a season...there are better ways to solve it.
Now McClaren should be sacked. :DDD
Seriously, he already worked for United as a coach assistant, but I never thought he had the level to coach England.
Put Scolari there!!!! The English Team needs a strong coach like him.
11:34 PM
I don' t think talking can solve some of these issues. Almost all LA Galaxy fans are calling for the dismissal of Yallop because he has had very poor results for a long time before Becks arrived. If they don't make the play-offs it won't be the first time it will be the second year in a row. There are 13 MLS franchises the top 8 make the play-offs so no one is saying they have to win a title, people have lost faith in this coach because he has been coach for quite sometime and for the second year in a row it looks like the Galaxy will struggle to make the top 60% of the table.
I don't think the Galaxy fans are being impatient or unreasonable and the game on Thursday night really was poor, a lack of tactics. Yallop seemed desperate lost manager who very much resembled McClaren - who is also weak and quick to run out of ideas - he kept Becks on the field, even though he knew he was experiencing dizzyness and fatigue because he was desperate for points and was hoping for some 'Beckham magic' to save his job.
Also in the case of Yallop watching his press conferences you almost get the feeling that if you sacked him it would be the kind thing to do, seriously, he's not happpy , hes out of his depth, he doesn't like the spotlight, it could be best for everyone.
The reasons for dismissing the current management aren't specifically about or limited to Becks. Becks is just now experiencing the poor management that the team has had for some time. The reality is their has been a lot of recruiting and a lot of trades done to bring new talent into the team, Lalas and Yallop must take responsibility for the fact they have done a really poor job of building a team.
Also Lalas has been at a string of MLS franchises his track record is terrible he basically has overseen a string of disasters leaving each club worse off than it was before he arrived.
I simply would like to see Becks at a better managed club for his sake, the sake of the rest of the team and of the LA Galaxy fans. What exactly do you think their should be a dialogue about Siniestro? I mean these guys are doing their best but unforunately its not very good - but I don't think they have the means to suddenly transform themselves and become dramatically better.
Oh and in terms of the play-offs this season is all but over. It's not a mathematical impossibility but it's very difficult now and if they don't go through then the season ends in October and they might as well look towards re-building quite soon.
2:30 AM
Well, Anna...
I know there are more problems besides the ones involving Becks. The results are there to show LA Galaxy didn't build a good team with some more experienced and talented players.
And they should have worried more about it before Becks had arrived.
But the schedule problem and how they will handle with Becks playing for England and then the next day LA Galaxy is the main problem.
It is the problem that is making everyone complain about Yallop, Lalas..., obviously LA Galaxy fans are also complaining about the results, but myself as a Beckham fan, I'm more worried about his injury and the schedule situation.
I still think the good results will come with Becks fit, despite LA Galaxy defenders. :-/
Anyway, just don't think it is the right time to change the management.
Even if Yallop is feeling lost and not confortable with all the spotlight, like you said, I just think he still should be given a chance until the end of the season, at least.
Please, I'm not defending him at all.
I didn't like the fact Becks played the full 90 minutes when we all know he shouldn't have played.
Just think changing a coach or firing Lalas suddenly will, in fact, not change the rest of the things suddenly.
If you know what I mean.

I think most here are Becks fan and I think all the frustration is the concern over Beckhams injury. And the poor display of good decisions because he is not 100%, plus the overall feeling no one seems to be considering his overall well being. There is no doubt the man is passionate, but still good management is important. I guess since I have watched Lalas as a player, than as a team president, he just says such stupid stuff. Just a lot of frustration, since I live in the USA just wanted to see the MLS improve and so wanted to be happy watching Becks weekly do his thing. Just saddened by the pressure put on one man and the lack of consideration. Sort of makes the team look like idiots. And the Galaxy were a very good team once..So hopefully time and patience will bring that back.
6:11 AM
Sort of funny just read some papers saying the Galaxy want Jurgen Klinsman to take over the manager of the team!! Not funny but a great thought.he lives in LA.
I am wondering if Yallop is out of his league with all the attention. Whoever said it, the glaaxy ahd 6 months to construct a good team for Becks to come too...
6:15 AM
Why must Yallop be given more time. He's had more than a year? What exactly are we waiting for? They've taken 1 point from a possible 15 in their last 5 games. The lad can do a lot but he can't do it all alone hes going to need a bit of help
6:31 AM
oh, i'd never call for the firing of a manager over one thing. yes, i think david's injury has shone a light on the galaxy, but this is a team riddled with problems. if everything else was going great for the galaxy, and they mismanaged becks injury, perhaps i'd have a little more patience.
i agree, what exactly would we be waiting for to happen with yallop? would one more year of losing be enough time? people have called for his firing way before becks even arrived.
as for lalas, i certainly would not be mad if he was let go. i don't excuse people for saying stupid things. i thing he says irresponsible things, that are pretty counterproductive to what they are trying to build in la. he has come across, to me, as blatantly self serving. that is not who i want to see in charge of anything.
i dont think anything will happen before the end of the season. but, it's clear this team needs a lot of work on the pitch, and better decision makers off of it.
7:26 AM
Important It is for David in this particular moment therefore that the press puts in evidence the positive effect that the MSL is having with its arrival. Partially it will give to he courage and confidence for the future, but we wait for above all that the leadership of the Galaxy puts around David a worthy team of its value. I agreed with what some of you said. The most important thing right now is Becks' health and injury. We all want him to be ok even if he can't play. LA Galaxy, that's another story. They were already in trouble before Becks got here. They need to rethink anything and everything before they do it, especially when it comes to playing Becks. Plus, LA Galaxy needs a good defense! I'm amazed at their strikers and midfielders but their defenders and goalie are just bad. They need a balanced team. As for England, they need to sack McClaren! I live in the USA and I would really like to see soccer to be big! I'm tired of hearing or watching "football" that's not even football. I read that article this morning in the newspaper!! I was saying, "Finally, someone giving Becks the credit he deserves!" With Becks over here, I get to catch more of his games. I'm glad now more people are getting into soccer. I hope I can catch him when he comes to Houston but the best thing right now is Becks getting better. So let's all pray!! or not for some people.
8:47 AM
yeah, klinsman as coach is a great thought:) but I think the US team would be picking him up first.

8:50 AM
So,Alexi Lallas is possibley facing the sack.Is that all. I think it should be a firing squad!!!
11:01 AM
As football fans I think we should all say a prayer for Sevilla's Antonio Puerta who is in the hospital after suffering from two cardiac arrests earlier in his match today.

5:31 PM
I think Lalass is more to blame than Yallop and I think firing him is the most important thing,,,
10:31 PM
He is such a young man, I hope Puerta recovers soon.
Marie
10:52 PM
That is sad I'll say a prayer for him.
10:59 PM
It's always shocking when something like this happens.
All my best wishes to Puerta and all his family. :-(
11:10 PM
Major problem: too many fixtures in to little time all over the place (I fully understand the MLS, ESPN AEG etc on wanting to please everybody and make as much $ and coverage as possible) yet they all forgot (or didn't want to think about Becks being a human being - as well as the other players.
It doesn't help that a General Manager (GM) which such a bad record (from previous jobs) didn't "stand up" against these others and protect the team/players.
+ his ridiculous and bad timed comments don't help either for the team to focuss on the pitch - and neither does it help the MLS in general.
That's why I would like to see him gone ASAP.

1. Yallop has got to go. This season is a wash. Whether we change now or at the end of the year makes little difference. I would prefer the change now to bring in someone new, to take a new direction and inject some new ideas into this team. In addition to that, by allowing a new manager to finish out the last few months of this season he will be able to get a good look at the current roster in competative league matches so he can get the best possible idea of who he will keep and who he should let go in the offseason. Who knows, maybe the change will light a big enough fire under peoples behinds that they go on a win streak and at least make the rest of the season look interesting. Whats going on right now is pitiful and there is no excuse for it. I thought it was a good idea to hire Yallop after we got rid of he-who-has-no-soul in 2006. Yallop is a good manager with a decent track record, but the bottom line is that he hasnt gotten the job done here and hes had more than enough time. Its time to amicably part ways. Yallop needs to regroup and I am sure he will have success at his next venture.
2. Klinnsman would be an extraordinary option. No, the man cannot single handedly save the team, but I believe him to be a better choice than most others out there for a few reasons. A). The man has a brilliant soccer mind as hes shown as a player. Furthermore he has shown a knack for being able to translate that into managing a team. Yes, Germany was a relatively strong side to begin with but Juergen did wonderfully with that group and had them performing well above the expecations of even most Germans. B) Hes not really one that can be considered a "foreigner". Yes, hes German and yes, most of his experience as a player and all of it as a manager has come in Europe, but the man has been local for years now. In addition to that he has been involved with the Galaxy as a technical advisor before, is familiar with the team, familiar with the structure of MLS, and more importantly has a strong knowledge of the American player pool. This put together, makes him the best of both worlds. He has international savvy coupled with good local insight.
3. We have absolutely nothing to lose. Whats the worst that can happen? We lose more games? The team continues to fall appart? It dont think we can possibly put on a more disorganized, heartless and unispiring display than we have given the last several games. I think at this point we are at, or nearing our longest losing streak in franchise history (what are we at 5 or 6 league games now?) In any event, the only place to go is up. Its a no loss situation. Make the move guys. Please make some kind of move
