David Beckham Press conference
Update - David Beckham's press conference in full is online here.

Thanks to Tanique there are a photos of David Beckham from today's training session and press conference in Toronto in the gallery.
(Source) David Beckham arrived in Toronto last night with the LA Galaxy. They are staying at the King Edward Hotel and the team dined at the Ultra Supper Club last night. There was a press conference today after a training session at BMO Field.
David Beckham made it clear that he is highly unlikely to play in the match against Toronto FC saying "I don't think I will be involved in the game tomorrow unfortunately... Unless there is a drastic change I won't be on the pitch tomorrow. Today was the first time that I ran. Running straight forward is not a problem but turning corners is still a problem and I don't think I'll be involved in the game."
Becks also made it clear that his participation in the Galaxy's next game, this Thursday against DC United in Washington DC was doubtful, saying "It would be nice to play some part of the game in Washington but I'll just have to keep my fingers' crossed...A week to 10 days is what I'm looking at." He also made an apology for missing the game in Dallas, explaining that he has to be very careful with his injury. He said, "I want to be fit and I want to perform when I'm playing games, that's the most important thing to me. I'm here for five years -- I'm not just here for four or five games." Full story here. There is also a good summary of the full press conference online here including comments from Becks about the paparazzi.
LA Galaxy coach Frank yallop was asked earlier today if David Beckham would play tomorrow and said "probably not". Team captain Landon Donovan said Becks ankle is improving, "When he got here, it was like a balloon... you kind of looked at it and said, 'You're going to play on that?'... When he played in the Chelsea game, it was almost a miracle at that point. He shouldn't have been playing probably. But he's getting a lot better", you can read more from his team-mates online here. You can see a clip from the CBC that includes a snippet of the press conference and the training session below -
David Beckham interview
There is a long article about David Beckham including an interview in the Canadian Globe and Mail today.Support Becks
As you all know David Beckham has been receiving some negative press and criticism because he is injured. If you would like to show Becks your support at this time there are several ways you can show him some love!Firstly, as you know David Beckham has a myspace so you can log in to or register for a myspace account and then ask to be added as a friend to Becks official myspace and then once you are added you can leave a comment.
Secondly, you can send a note to David Beckham to his club

Thirdly, you can leave a message of support online here. The messages will be collated into a single e-mail and sent to a representative of David Beckham.
Disclaimer: I honestly don't know whether David Beckham will definitely receive or read any of the messages sent by these three methods, I'm just a fan like you but I think that at the very least Becks will hear that there have been a lot of supportive messages coming through :)

Nice to read what he said about how much winning La Liga meant to him. It was special alright :-)

Good thinking Kimmesabe! Got to make sure the voice of reason is heard above the wailing and moaning coming from the daft fools in Dallas
5:07 AM
they should never played him against Chelsea then he might be proper ok now instead of still hurt. People need to blame Galaxy and the clubs who hyped things none of that is down to Beckham
6:14 AM
great idea to combat all the negativity anna. good thoughts can't hurt.
fingers crossed, if he plays tonight, he'll be alright.

I love the article, it nice to read an article about becks that is not bias in anyway :) And say what you will about Beckham but he is always working hard on and off the pitch :) and people should realize that, I guess America has to be schooled on who Beckham really is, hence all the documentaries.

Anna (mind if I say your name?)
It's great to see big fans like you asking for others to support Beckham at this time. Hehe it's like you're the ring leader for the rest of us! =P
Anyways, since i added his fan page long ago, I just left a comment on the page. Apparently either him or his representative screens the comments first before they appear publicly! It's a good thing the page is legit since I've seen a LOT of fakers around.

Fingers crossed he gets' well soon and will be able to play footie
Ben - have a nice weekend everyone :-)

The lad is 100% correct he has to be careful because he sprained it but then he played on it and then he played on it again so he gave it a pretty good hammering and then they had him do a cameo when completely unfit and now he really can't be taking no more risks.
I'm a little surprised hes ruling himself out though shouldn't Yallop or Lalas be handling this and not the player?
5:05 PM
because i don't want to go into a rant, i'll just say YES the team should be the ones informing the press of david's status.
it's interesting how they've made it a point to hype his arrival, but since his hammering in the press they've yet to come out and speak on behalf of their star player. they've given no real definitive answers on his injury.
as i've told anna, they are making it hard for me to fully embrace this team.
6:15 PM
I've made the same observation about management's manipulative silence, to put it kindly.
But, as usual, Beckham stood up and did the right thing. I'm sure it was a relief to get the details out in the open, and he'll get the respect for that.
(I'm going to have to work a little on that embrace too, Tanique! Maybe once he's playing and we can focus on him and his teammates instead of the boys upstairs it will be easier...I hope ;-) ).
9:13 PM
im glad david finally got to speak about the dallas incident. i wrote early talking about my disapointment, but unlike most fans i never blamed david and as an avid fan i knew he wanted to be there out on the pitch.
9:45 PM
The good Sunday to all! It will not never change our champion. It to take its responsibilities and faces with wisdom the difficulties that meets in the life. That is why we want to it well because, beyond the beauty in David there is a lot more. Loredana, Samuele, Gabriel
10:19 PM
I don't know why he needs to give a press conference to say he won't be able to play. It's really a big pressure on him.
Los Angeles Galaxy should do it.
He's injured. Simple as that.
I also don't understand why he needs to travel during 10 days with the team if he's not fit.
Ok, he was signed not only to play football, but also to be useful off the pitch. Just don't think that's the right way to do the things.
Poor Becks, just wish he can recover as soon as possible and play football again because that's what I like to see him doing and because that's what he really loves.
11:43 PM
I guess its hard for those of us who are used to the way Real Madrid would handle something or Manchester United would handle something to adjust. Can you imagine Fergie having the player tell the press the situation! If the player did that Fergie would sell them! As strange as we are finding things Becks must feel like he is trying to find his way through a maze blind-folded! It's a big change for him. The main thing has got to be that they are not playing him and hopefully they will give him the time he needs :-)
1:44 AM
I could not understand the behaviour of the club management. They should stand behind David and make a press conference to explain his status and to explain that it is not his decision if he will play or travel with the team!!!
And it is not ok, that an injured player hast to travel particularly if the flying is not good for his ankle.

Nadja

Thanks for the new images Tanique! I had to drool on them for a little while =P

diane, yes i'm hoping the focus will shift, once he starts playing.
i just hope if in the future, they find themselves in the same situation, god forbid, it's handled better.
anna, thanks for the training clip.
7:41 AM
oh no, bad news for England, John Terry, is injured and most likely would not be able to play the upcoming friendly and the 2 qualifying matches...sigh, get better Becks, England would need you now more than ever.

Fortunately the Galaxy have taken a lot of heat from writers who may not know much about football/soccer but have seen enough over-exploitation in sports to call foul. Hopefully that will help set them on a saner course.
Will try to watch match tonight and wish the new team well...I also like Toronto now for having gracious fans!
