David Beckham's Toronto Presser
Update - Thanks to Tanique33 there are new photos of David Beckham at the Baseball game between the Blue Jays and the New York Yankees in Toronto in the gallery.
Here are clips of David Beckham's complete Toronto press conference for anyone having trouble with viewing it in windows media format (available here). As the media seems to have reported some but not all of his comments I think it's always good to be able to hear exactly what he said for yourself -
For anyone who missed it you can view part of David Beckham's press conference from July 21 where he gave exactly the same description of his injury as he did in Toronto and also gave a timeline online here. David Beckham has been very candid and direct in all his comments regarding his injury status it would be nice if others would follow his example.
Other News
CBC interview - David Beckham was interviewed by Scott Russell of CBC ahead of last night's game against Toronto you can view it with Quicktime or using Real Media Player if you have any trouble viewing leave a comment and I'll put it on you tube.Money-maker - There is an article out today on the tremendous amount of money the MLS is making from the Beckham effect, with David Beckham's soccer jersey the number one selling item through Sports Authority stores, you can read it here.
McClaren visit - Steve McClaren, England Manager, has said that he will continue with his planned trip to the US so that he can have a chat with David Beckham and also meet with Frank Yallop and Alexi Lalas more here.

Lalas, has to have the mentality of a European manager where whatever he says goes, he needs to grow some backbone when dealing with the media...it is strange that they let Beckham answer questions about his injuries when it should be the team doctors who should answer it.
I'm glad some players of the LA Galaxy admire Beckham for how he handles everything.

David is a true pro! As for Lalas and AEG... reading the article about all the money they're earning makes me sick I mean if they are reaping the rewards how about stepping it up and just coming clean with the fans and backing up David. What is this never ending talk of a "sore ankle" fercrissakes thats just so unfair, I keep hearing sore ankle, sore ankle, sore ankle from Yallop Lalas and thats what the press runs with so David sounds like a wuss!! oooh he won't play cos hes got a sore ankle boo hoo that is why people are reacting wrong. If the club would say torn ligaments, hell name em say badly sprained ankle with ripped or torn or whatever ligaments including the lateral or interior or ya know what I mean... put that out there, that is what he has, that is why he can't play... sore ankle makes the man sound like a big sissy girl! C'mon hes making you all this money now do the right thing.
Sorry for the rant I am just so doggone mad

Thanks for the news! It badly makes to feel the press to attack, but at this point we are we accustom you to this. When him it will begin to play, this tension around him will go away (hopes). We are happy in feeling of the travel of MacClaren, this news will raise the moral of David, we know how much he holds to its country. We continue to support him, and are convinced that him he will be repaid of all the displeasures of this ugly period (to remember the black period in the Real). Hello, Loredana, Samuele, Gabriel

anna. i am the fan that wrote previously from dallas about my on field tickets, and today i recieved the following e-mail from fc dallas.
FC DALLAS TO PLAY LA GALAXY IN 2008 PRESEASON CHARITY GAME
FRISCO, Texas (Friday, August 3, 2007) – FC Dallas General Manager Michael Hitchcock today announced that fans who bought tickets through the team’s front office or through Ticketmaster for the July 31 SuperLiga game between FC Dallas and the LA Galaxy will have the opportunity to receive one free ticket to a 2008 preseason charity game between the two Western Conference clubs. The preseason game, which will include the presence of Galaxy midfielder David Beckham, will be played at Pizza Hut Park in early 2008 on a date to be determined.
The game will serve as a fundraiser for charities to be mutually agreed upon by both FC Dallas and the LA Galaxy. All net proceeds from the donations will be presented to the selected charities on behalf of both teams and their fans. A limited number of tickets will be made available to the general public for a minimum contribution.
Fans that purchased tickets through the FC Dallas front office or Ticketmaster to the July 31 game will receive more information on how to claim the free ticket for the preseason game in the mail in the coming weeks. Fans will have the opportunity to reserve the same amount of tickets for the preseason game as they originally purchased for the July 31 SuperLiga game. All fans with questions may also contact the front office via email at feedback@fcdallas.net.
That makes me very happy to now, and maybe now everyone here in dallas will calm down and cut him some slack. because as someone said before the media is just reporting a sprained ankle not the torn ligaments.

I agree with Pru. Basically said everything that I was thinking about.
I have a quick question about the contest to win the signed Galaxy Kit at the official site. How many times are you able to enter? It never said you could enter once so I was just wondering...

Hi Phuong, I really don't know I guess you can only go by whats written on the site - maybe try entering again I guess and see if it lets you?
Hi Dallas fan, I saw that they were goning to give people who had tickets for the Dallas game a free ticket to a 2008 pre-season charity match and I thought of you! I'm so glad all you're hard work to buy the tickets will at least mean you get a free ticket to see him next year! :)I'll post the news as soon as the date is known :)
I agree Pru they have played down his injury so much and as you say people are reacting to a perception that it's just a bit sore so why doesn't he man-up and get out there. When of course it should have been communicated much better. sigh. Such a frustrating situation on so many levels don't worry you're not the only one feeling annoyed :)

Thanks so much for the interview I enjoyed that even though it is short the interviewer seemed a nice man who actually asked some interesting questions for a change :-)

Great pics today. The old "Galactico" meeting with baseball's Galacticos of New York...so like Real Madrid in so many ways.

There is a really good article
online here
For those of you feeling concerned about how The LA Galaxy have handled David Beckham's injury. It has been noticed - unfortunately not by many - but at least there is one journalist working for the Star Ledger who is awake - it's a start :)

Hi Siniestro and Julie gald you liked the interview, I like listening to him talk about thie children's charity.
Hi Loredana, I agree this period will be forgotten soon enough and so I am trying not to make more of it than necessary. However, David Beckham has been left to shoulder criticism that should have been directed at the club and/or League and they have quite purposefully deflected it.
Frank Yallop said on Sunday it was too soon to say about David Beckham's availability for the DC United game. Why? Why didn't he say David Beckham said he would need a week to 10 days and that game is in 4 days so I think everyone should work on the basis that he won't play and in the unlikely event that changes obviously we will announce it. What is so hard about that?
