Retro David Beckham Q & A
Here is a cute Retro Q & A from the movie "Really Bend it like Beckham" via You Tube thanks to kauragyourov109 for anyone who hasn't seen it before -
There's also a behind the scenes clip from the same DVD that is well worth watching here.
David Beckham's Soccer USA
Just a reminder to UK and US based fans that the second episode of David Beckham's Soccer USA will screen tonight so get your recorders ready to go! In the UK the Tim Lovejoy hosted show will air at 7.15PM on Channel Five and in the US the Natalie Pinkham hosted show will go to air at 8PM ET on FSC. You can watch episode one of the UK show online here.David Beckham's first training session
The LA Galaxy official site recently added a clip from David Beckham's July 16 training session if, like me, you hadn't spotted it - here it is thanks to Notorious!Pele and the Pop star quote
I just wanted to set the record straight on the articles doing the rounds at the moment that claim Pele has just come out and said that David Beckham is more of a pop star than a player. He hasn't. He made the comment in August 2003 in Mexico City when he was filming a commercial for Viagra. He said that "Real Madrid are a team with a lot of money who can afford to buy the best star players" and that "Football today is also entertainment and people want players to be stars rather than footballers". He also said that "David Beckham is more pop star than player." He was speaking in a completely different context. You can see the original story in Sports Illustrated.I'm all for recycling but this is ridiculous. Literally hundreds of media outlets have run this "new" story that takes the Pele quote and twists it to give it a far more negative connotation suggesting it is a comment on David Beckham's approach to playing in the US. It was in fact a comment, albeit a groundless one, made when discussing the state of the game in 2003.

Anne thanks for the information on the MLS, is the same year in which Samuele is been born. Beautiful the clips, sad we because we cannot see the program on David. We hope to see he to return to train itself with its companions. Hello Loredana, Samuele, Gabriel

man the media suck why do they do that??

Also in Italy the words of PELE' have arrived (would have had not to speak) As usual the press are full of poison in the comparisons of David. How ago he to defend itself from these attacks? We appreciate its strong, single character therefore is explained as he is not driven crazy with all the lies that write on he. Hello Loredana, Samuele, Gabriele

i think its sad that people in texas are blaming david for not coming. i left a comment yesterday about how i was disapointed, but i was in shock when i went to the game and people were bashing beckham. any real fan knows he hates missing games, and that it was frank yallop who kept him at home. i just hope this blows over before his next visit, because i would hate to see him not have the warm welcome that he deserves

i know, people don't know that his injuries are actually because of his dedication to the game. And he really wants to be out there on the pitch.

The media don't care about the truth of what they write so long as they can keep a steady stream of stories coming out with Beckham in the title. It is annoying tho that they have to dig up something from 4 years ago at a time when the lad is injured and the last thing needed is more daft comments taken out of context. FFS. This current situation is tough. The ignorance on display in Dallas was ... pathetic. Those people aren't soccer fans they're bandwagon fans they have no knowledge of the sport or of Becks they just heard it was the latest thing to be able to say you saw and when it didn't go to plan they threw their toys out of the cot like 2 year olds. Sad.

I saw the Pele story and I thought I'd heard it before... I don't think Pele should have said it in the first place but the press are making it sound even worse this time poor David the papers are always making things up and giving him a hard time :-(
12:03 AM
yeh I agree the reaction was sad. He's injured he'd play if he could no sportsmen would ever choose to be injured over playing and thats true x 100 for bex
3:14 AM
I can't help but wonder still if the media isn't playing it and building it up for all it's worth. Even with 6 signs - there were more than 20,000 people - the majority of people may have understood that he was injured and would have made the trip if he could - but there's no story in reporting that.
5:03 AM
I'm sad about all the people who are writting bad things about David.
They don't know nothing about football (soccer) or the british language. Some americans think he could not spell right because he spells "organised" with "s" and not wiht "z". This is just one example of the bad things they worte - it hurt me.

Nadja

Hi Nadja,
I know that some people have been showing their ignorance but let's just try and ignore it they don't deserve any attn and try not to be upset. As Becks says "it's a round world" you have to let some things roll off :)
