Becks half-time interview
David Beckham gave a half-time interview during LA Galaxy’s game against Chivas USA which they unfortunately lost 3-0, game report. Becks handled the questions well, down-playing the non-soccer related talk about People magazines ‘Best Dressed list’ and steering the conversation back to England’s recent successes. The man is a class act and fast on his feet!
David Beckham’s Official Calendar Scans
There are some scans from Becks official calendar in the gallery. Along with a picture of The Beckham’s driving from the Mastro Steakhouse last night. The whole family dined out after Victoria returned from fashion week in New York. There is also a larger version of the pic on the left of Becks with Luke Brolin 7. Becks took time out from watching his own sons playing soccer at North Ranch Playfield in Westlake Village on Saturday to say hello to some of his new neighbors and sign autographs.

Michael Parkinson has been talking about the highlights of his career and seeing Becks in his underpants seems to be pretty close to the top of the list. Understandable. Story here.
Finally, there has been a lot of talk (when is there not) about Becks future in the England team following their recent wins. However, Terry Venables has dismissed the speculation in an interview with The Sun, saying “It seems to have been decided [by the media] that the result means the end for Wayne Rooney, Frank Lampard, David Beckham, Gary Neville and Owen Hargreaves as first-team choices. Let me tell you it does not.”

sadly performance wise the match was many steps back for the GalaxyBecks was sharp with the interview questions and the team 1 big disappointment, even he "reliable" Xavier had a bad gameatmosphere etc was quite well – by the ChivasUSA fans and the TV commentator (Winalda I think) was spot onNo movement by the Galaxy players off the ball, all wait till they get the ball to their feet. All waiting for the other to "come up with something" and no real urgency going forward and getting a result for 95% of the game.Ben

Loredana, here is a quick overview of what was said in the interview I hope it translates ok
They asked about his injury and when he might be back playingBecks said rehab was going really well, that hes having treatment twice a day. He said he might be able to play before the end end of the MLS season but he doesn't know yet because you can't tell with injuries and that he would have to wait and see. He said it was good that his knee was giving his ankle time to healThen they asked him who decides if he plays, if it was a collective decision, his singular decision etc.Becks said it was obviously down to the Manager to decide if he played and how many minutes he played but that he has to be fit and that he tells the coach if he is fit and then the coach and the management staff decide.Then they said that a lot of people were impressed with how seriously he was taking playing for the LA Galaxy and representing the club and they asked – why were there so many people who didn't believe you would take it seriously?Becks said that there was some negativity out there and you get that in all walks of life but that everything he does he does seriously, everything he takes part in he wants to win and be the best at and thats the way he has been through out his career Then Eric Wynalda asked how MLS players had received him and Becks said everyone had been great and that even when he was kicked by players – the players would then help him up They asked about the Jesse Marsch (dirty cheating) foul (I added the dirty cheating part) and Becks just said it was part of the game and happens and wasn't a big deal.Then they asked him if any of the players in MLS had impressed Becks and he said he only wanted to talk about his team-mates (and the commentator Eric Wynalda said that was 'a good answer') and then Becks spoke about Landon Donovan being a great player and complimented his speed and ability to run at players and said he's impressed him a lotThen he was asked if he was following the England womens team in the World Cup and what he thought of Miss Smiths boot kissing goal celebration. Becks just said he thought the women had done well winning their first game and that every one has a different goal celebration and that if you score a goal in a world cup you have to enjoy it and that she had enjoyed it.Then they congratulated him on being on People Magazines best dressed list and asked if he had any hints for how they could make the list and Becks said he didn't know he was on the list and told the commentator he looked very smart and then said "Going Back to the England question the lads have done well in the last two games we needed that we needed a boost and obviously the two games gave us that"Then finally they asked him if he had identified any areas where the LA Galaxy might be able to get an edge against Chivas USA and Becks basically said it would help if they could retain possession because they have players that can create chances.

Now tell me does anyone know does this latest loss mean L.A.G can't make the play-offs or is there still hope?I think David was great in the interview why did Tommy ask such dumbo questions? I mean really the world is just aching to know what he things of a player kissing her shoe NOT. Why didn't they ask him if hes going to train with Arsenal or something actually interesting!!
Ben, I agree with you that the players hang back to much…waiting. There seems a general lack of confidence. Why do you think that is?Anna, thank you for putting up the interview I lost the sopcast stream and missed most of it.Interesting to see they asked the lad whos decision it was if he played and he said again it was up to the Manager…I'm glad that came up because the press keep blithering on about how he insisted or he wanted too and basically placing the decision at his door but it is bleeding obvious that the lad don't see it that way.

Pru, sadly I think the play-offs are pretty much out of reach now. The Galaxy are still in last place and need to be in 8th to make the play-offs. They are 12 points behind the 8th placed team with 2 games in hand. Even if they won all their remaining games they would still need other teams to lose. I think its still mathematically possible just not very probable……Syd, nice to see you, you are very welcome

Yeh the play-offs dream is dead.Just wanted to say that during the game they showed some of the injured players in a suite a few times and towards the end we were losing…and as a fan I was hurting…they showed the guys and they were laughing it up which was pretty sickening except for Beckham he looked unhappy and as a fan it meant a lot to me to see that he cared which is more than you could say for the other boneheads.
Do you believe Venables though? I think David place is at risk and he might not get 100 caps but I really reaaly hope he does

Actually I think ESPN are showing it Julie you might just be on to something there.I don't trust Venables either but in this case I think he is right in that there might be more competition for starting places but a squad can be 24 or more players so I don't think Davids place is as much of a doubt as the press like to make out they just want to make a big story out of every damn thing
I noticed the same thing, galaxy23, even the commentator was upset they were laughing — maybe it was something fleeting and unrelated to the match, but still… Either way, Tommy was right, Becks is the kind of teammate (AND fan) that "kicks every ball" while watching a game.
I just had to share this headline I saw "Motorola Razr 2 comes with free naked David Beckham" hehehe can you imagine they'd run out in minutes people would be stampeding the stores. Tooo funny! =)
It's nice to hear that Becks could take his boys to socer without the paparazzi and only fan photos. I hope he gets a lot more of that kind of freedom now in LA
