Becks back on the pitch

Steve Lesse, who is one of the founders of the LA Galaxy official ambassadors program, observed some of the LA Galaxy practice today and has kindly passed on the following details - "I was able to watch David Beckham training on the main pitch of the Stadium! In addition to doing some work with a ball he was doing some hard accelerations, stops and side to side work. He looked strong and I could not see any limping or favoring of either leg. He was wearing trainers, not cleats however."
Becks trained separately from the main team practice which was on University Feild 1 and Steve said, "He looked like he might make it back before the end of the regular MLS season." This is great news. It sounds like his recovery is progressing well. Thanks Steve!
David Beckham to appear on last Parkinson
The Sun reports that Michael Parkinson, will be retiring as the king of UK chat shows and his last show will be a 2 hour special featuring David Beckham, Billy Connolly and Michael Caine. The Sun says that Becks will be based in the UK during MLS's close season when he isn't touring with the Spice Girls. They also suggest he plans to spend Christmas there and that he will train with Arsenal. (I hope this is true but of course The Sun are not completely reliable so I think we still need confirmation from a non-tabloid source)
The Parkinson interview according to The Sun will coincide with the London leg of the Spice Girls reunion tour, all the details here. Becks previous interviews with Parky have been great! So I'm really looking forward to this.
The Mirror reports that J Lo told media at the launch of her new album Brave at Amika in London, "Victoria and David are great with their kids, it's a pleasure to see." Nice to hear them being praised for being such lovely parents.
There are some old scans from the May 1998 issue of Arena in the gallery

8:45 AM
Greaaaaaat. :-D
It´s good to hear him training again.
I also want to see him playing as soon as possible, but at the same time I want him to be fully recovered before start playing again.
Hopefully this Michael Parkinson rumour will be true. :-)
But will he be touring all the world with the Spice Girls?
Who am I to say it, but I don´t think so.
Not sure if La Galaxy would allow him to travel to so many different places. :-/
That´s just what I think.
Don´t want to create big discussions with this comment.
12:30 PM
Such great news!! The injuries might still be several weeks away from playing condition, but he must be ecstatic that at least some of his rehab is taking place outside the training room.
BTW, I have only ever seen one David and Victoria on Parky interview (the goldenballs moment). Does anyone know where I can find others? Thanks, D
1:16 PM
Diane there was a Parkinson interview with just David on his own as well. There was a snippet of it in The Real David Beckham program Anna put up last week. He was wearing a black suit and looking gorgeous :-)Don't know if its on youtube.
Thanks for the wonderful news!! :-)
7:11 PM
Hi D I just looked on youtube and there weren't any Parky interviews with the Beckhams...I'm sure there used to be but they don't seem to be there now :-?

interesting that he is talking positively about Beckham and the need for MLS to improve considering he was rumored to be in the frame to be coach...
9:07 AM
Thanks for passing along the good news. How come LA Galaxy dont do training reports like Real Madrid did? It would be like well good if they did yeah
10:26 AM
Excellent news! He'll show all the doubters once hes fit that will shut them up!!! AND the G's won a game woohoo
7:08 PM
speaking of Parkinson, I've seen that interview with Victoria before... the goldenballs one... in youtube. But now I can't find it! Argh!
anyway, thanks for the update. Good to hear Becks is back training again! Yay! :D
8:01 PM
I'll see what I can find re when the show will air :)
Hi Diane :) I'll see if I can find the other Parkinson interview for you.
1:34 AM
Thanks everyone for helping with the Becks on Parky. I might have the Mr and Missus there together someplace, will send link if I find it.
Didn't get the game on TV last night, but I should be able to see highlights in a couple of hours on FSC. Won't help with the playoffs, but they needed the win for some bit of pride anyway. All I can say is I am SO relieved!
5:48 AM
Correction, I guess the playoffs are still mathematically possible. I know...impossible is nothing ;-) .
6:02 AM
Well i guess it's not mathematically impossible until their are 8 teams with tallies that the LA Galaxy can't reach even if they win all their games.
Still, if you look at the standings LA Galaxy have to win every game and Chicago and Columbus need to lose a couple or draw all of their remaining games for LA to end up in 8th.
It's not impossible and if they had less injuries and Becks was playing I'd be hoping for a miracle but as it stands I really don't think it's feasible now and I tend to err on the side of optimism :) but to expect a team that's won 5 from 24 to now win 6 from 6 (and even then they wouldn't be masters of their own destiny) when every team they have to play except for Toronto has a much better record this season - well this might be a case of impossible is nothing but miracles on this scale may prove a little more difficult lol
7:08 AM
I'm with you on that.
BTW, Anna, I thought you would be amused that Mr Becks has gotten me in trouble with that Adidas campaign. If my daughter says to me one more time, after I tell her that something is just not possible: "Mommmmmm, impossible is nothing remember!?", I may ban the phrase from my home. At least she knows to reserve it for her sporting activities, ok AND she's often right, so yes it IS a great campaign for kids...nonetheless, I do wonder if dad gets Brooklyn repeating it back to him ;-) .
