Posh and Becks by Ted's side
The Press Association report that David and Victoria Beckham were both at the bedside of Becks' dad, Ted Beckham, at the London Chest Hospital, today. Posh arrived in the early hours of the morning after cutting her business trip to Japan short to be at Becks side.
They arrived at the hospital around 11am for a three hour visit. They were accompanied by a security detail who cleared a path through the photographers waiting at the hospital gates. It is just as well that the media are prevented from entering the hospital grounds and accosting the Beckhams as they go into the hospital.
(Source) Simon Oliveira, David Beckham's publicist, told AP "He [Ted Beckham] is conscious and talking, and that's a positive step". A spokeswoman for the hospital confirmed that his condition remains stable. Let's all continue to pray that Ted Beckham is on the road to recovery. Update - I've added a few nice photos of Becks with his dad and also one of Ted and his grandson Brooklyn to the gallery.

I'm really pleased for David and the family that the early signs seems so positive. Hopefully things are going to work out ok for Ted. Hang in there David!

I heard about it yesterday and it was a kind of a shock.
Don´t even know what to say.
You never know when such things happen.

I saw The Sun thanks for that but there were some not so nice messages mixed in - why do people have to do that at a time like this - and so I thought people might rather send a message directly to Becks at myspace or the club

I think the british media have been quite restrained. Perhaps Anna is protecting us from the worst of it? But from what I have seen there has been respectful coverage from 99% of the media with the UK Express, Daily Star, News of the World & Daily Mail being the exceptions but everyone knows they are rags. The Sun has been okay. There have been no photos..as far as I know..taken on hospital grounds or saints preserve us inside the hospital. The photographers have been limited to taking snaps of the car as it drives past. So maybe it is a sign of lowered expectations :-) but it might be worse.
The only distasteful thing I saw was people and papparazzi screaming at him and getting very close as he was trying to walk in to the airport in Los Angeles which was awful because at that stage poor David didn't even know if his father would make it.
So so glad to hear that Ted is conscoius and talking..may he go from strength to strength

Julie, don't forget The Mirror - they are making things up as well. Also as there are police at the hospital gates I don't know how much credit the more parasitical members of the media deserve - I suspect that if they could get into the hospital some possibly would.

My father had a heart-attack 2 years ago. Based on the time that has passed since Mr Beckham had his attack the prognosis should be good. I hope he will feel better soon

Hi everyone ..
I've been out of my country since 4 days , and one night 28.9 I was watching MBC 4 news and I was shocked for hearing the bad news !
The first and for most what happened to Ted Beckham , to hear that was so sad and there was no computers and I was obligated to wait until I get back home to support our king !
I was so sorry to hear that ..
I wish he'll recover soon ..
and both Becks and his father will live for a long term of life.

Anna, after a cautious (as usual) glance at this morning's papers and the internet, I want thank you again for this haven of sanity and decency -- along with the well-checked information you provide. I try to stay positive in my comments, and hope I am not opening a can of worms, but I am really saddened -- once more -- by what I read elsewhere.
Every time I think the media has stooped as low as it can I am naive enough to be shocked again. I cannot believe how many papers and other outlets are using Mr. Beckham's illness to slander, or even take not so subtle pot-shots at, Becks or any member of his family. Under the guise of providing a bit of background information (usually a sentence or two will do thankyou) some of these papers seem to have dug up entire files of DISPROVED Beckham stories and tossed them on the presses whole. First, it is an amoral thing to do to anyone at a time like this, no matter how public a figure. Second, do they think there is a whole new generation that has not read these fairy tales before or that has forgotten that they were proven false -- many retracted?
I won't dwell on the soap opera fantasies being published about what is going on in Becks and/or his dad's mind or "at the bedside", because they are so ridiculous -- if still inappropriate and annoying.
If I have ever appreciated your sensitive and non-intrusive coverage before it is now. I also appreciate you limiting the photos to the least sensational. They can reassure those of the site's readers who like to see for themselves that Becks is being taken care of (minders, wife, whatever...), while still being respectful.
My very best wishes remain with Mr Beckham and the his family. Hoping the (real) news remains positive!
