Becks blog update

David Beckham Academy

The David Beckham Academy album has been updated with 80 more photos.

David Beckham has updated his blog here's today's note -

Hello everyone,

Firstly, I’d like to apologise for not updating my blog over the past week or so, but as I’m sure you understand, with my dad being taken ill the only thing on my mind was to get to him as quickly as possible.

Thank you so much to all of you who sent messages of support, flowers and cards to the hospital. They were greatly appreciated. Along with my dad and my family, I would also like to thank the doctors, nurses and ambulance staff who were amazing in their care of him.

I’m back in the States now and will be continuing my treatment on the injury.

That’s all for now - I’ll update you again soon.

Thanks
David
Let's wish him good luck with the treatment for his injury!

There is also an interview with Tim Lovejoy and he talks about MLS and Becks, read it here.

Sports Illustrated has an article by Alexi Lalas' brother Greg, suggesting that he doesn't think the LA Galaxy should make the play-offs because they have only begun to win matches since some of the media spotlight lifted. Thanks to galaxy23 here is the link. So what do you think?

Andrea Canales who writes for ESPN and Sideline Views posted this in response to the article "Yeah, I have to pull rank here and say that probably no one interviews more Galaxy players than I do, and all of the ones I've talked to want Beckham back on the field. They had some great games with him. He helped them beat the top team in the league right now to get them to that SuperLiga final.

Sorry, there's just no way that I believe every time the Galaxy get a free kick or a corner kick, that half of them aren't thinking, "Damn, wish David was here."

More than a few players (Donovan, Cobi, Joe, Kyle,) have told me that they're hoping to keep the run going so that when David comes back, there's something for him to play for. They know how hard he's tried for them and they feel they've let him and themselves down a little by having such a poor season.

Also, what more than a couple mentioned was that once everyone wrote them off, that took the pressure off and they were able to surprise even themselves a little bit.

Finally, if adversity builds character, seriously, the Galaxy have to be able to dig deep at this point. The guys left have been through a lot together."
Thanks to Diane for the heads up!

Finally don't forget to watch David Beckham's Soccer USA, Wednesday night! The US edition will feature Becks talking with Mia Hamm.

Emotional blog post.
I think that´s really him the one who writes it.

Good luck with the injury treatment, Becks.

Anna, the link for the interview with Tim Lovejoy does not work. Well, it does not go to his official website.

The same happens with The Sun article.
Just to warn you about it. Hope you don´t mind.

did you see this http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2007/writers/greg_lalas/10/02/galaxy.dp/ quite interesting

I don't know that I agree with it... we were sucking and losing most games before Beckham showed up we didn't go 4 wins in 23 matches after he got here...

Hi siniestrototal, of course I don't mind. I always appreciate it when someone notices a glitch and let me knows as then I can fix it :) And I have :)

Thanks for the heads ups galaxy23 I'll add the article. Yeah I don't know that I agree either after all their has been so much change in the roster it might have just taken them a while to settle full stop. Becks arriving had a big effect no doubt but people can go to far making that the sole explanation for everything I guess.

Thanks Anna. I hope the G's make the play-offs it would be good for the lad to have some more competitive matches once hes fit also I wouldn't give you tuppence for the hows whys and wherefores. If a team makes it then they make it and if they make it they should be there. Cut and dried. The other lads in the team might have a touch of the stage fright so what give them a chance to adapt. It's a big change but I hope nobody forgets in all of this that 2 of there three wins have come against teams with less than 11 players for substantial portions of the match. Three wins doesn't make lalas any less of a nob or Yallop into less of a muppet. I still hope they can make it but it's far from a certainty I don't think their is cause for believing they will just yet

the trouble with that article by Alexi's bro is that hes trying to make it all about David which is what the media always does but things like the schedule, injuries, trades and all the other stuff have nothing to do with David.

I had to laugh when he basically said the president didn't bring his A game and that's his brother. Family dinners must be fun in that house :-)

A number of thoughts on Lalas article; I don't agree with premise or conclusion; do think MLS needs to go to single table, too few teams for divisions; would like to see Becks get a chance to contribute because that means a lot to him; would obviously love to see him play; hope they don't rush him ;-); not sure there was more pressure on team in Becks "spotlight"; it takes a bit of guts to go out on pitch while being trashed and ridiculed (fair or not) for season-long poor performances -- and now to fight back to winning matches, with youngest squad members sitting in for many injured starters. The most significant person not "capable of rising to the occasion when the world is watching" is Alexi Lalas, who panicked, tossed his team, and sent out a group of strangers in mid season -- never a good idea, even with more skilled and seasoned players.

Finally, the alleged team "refrain" about Becks is offered completely out of context. We heard them on Soccer USA, the players were sympathizing with the pressures Becks lives with daily, and comments similar to the one quoted were made with affection. I think that was one more dig at his brother...not sure it was appropriate topic to begin with for this writer.

I think Greg Lalas is flat out wrong. The world hasn't stopped looking. The last three matches were sell outs. Certainly the road games were. There are still a hell of a lot people paying attention who weren't before.

Don't forget several players who haven't stepped up since Becks was out injured, like Pavon, actually shone briefly when Becks was on the feild and at no other time.

Becks helped the team get to the Super Liga final. The team fought hard and played a good final with the spotlight right on them.

The trouble with trying to over-simplify something that is complicated is that you will always be wrong because you ignore too many factors that mattered.

nice word from Canales! Good to hear the team is so supportive from someone in a position to know what they're talking about!

Thanks Anna, I found Ms Canales' comment reassuring and the player's sentiments touching. Good luck to them.

glad Ted Beckham is doing better and our Becks is really very appreciative of the medical staff and shows his gratitude to them. with the Galaxy situation---I'm glad their winning games now even if they would or did? not make it to the playoffs at least these last couple of games would give them confidence for the next season :)

I just don´t think the spotlight is the reason La Galaxy is not having a good season.
They´re already not playing well before Becks arrived.

But I have hopes next season will be better because Becks will be with the rest of the team since the begginning. And they will have the whole pre-season to train together and to build up a good team. Hopefully they will bring some good players.

Also they need to have more lucky with the injuries.
Not only Becks was injured, but other players aswell.
It didn´t help either.

Nice works from Canales. I like her and I believe her because she covers La Galaxy.

Don´t know what this Greg Lalas wants to achieve by writing this article, really.
