LA Galaxy win number 5!!
David Beckham had a great Saturday with his two teams winning two from two! The LA Galaxy beat Toronto FC 2-1 match report here and coverage in the LA Times here. England triumphed comfortably over Estonia winning 3-0 and you can view match details online here.
There are photos of Becks watching the LA Galaxy win their fifth straight game in the gallery as well as pictures of him on the feild congratulating his team-mates after the game. He also signed autographs for fans - you can see a picture Andrea Canales took of the ensuing Beckhamania here. She also wrote a good article about David Beckham's pending return and his role as a motivator for the team. Update - The Mirror has an article about how Becks retun to action for the La Galaxy will allow him to compete for a place in the squad that will play the Euro 2008 qualifier against Croatia on November 21.
As previously posted, Becks is now targetting Thursday's game against the New York Red Bulls for a return to action. Coach Yallop said, "Hopefully we get some type of minutes out of him on Thursday, but we've got to wait and see. And then, if we can manage to make it into the playoffs, David will be ready to go. That's exciting." Fingers crossed!
Thanks to Galaxy23 here is an interesting article that mentions that David Beckham gives his per diem entitlement when he is on the road to the less well paid players, which is a really nice gesture, story here.

Landon Donovan was awesum and Glinton is a real super-sub hes been coming off the bench to good effect in all the recent games and Buddle came back from injury at just the right time too!! Freaking fantastic!! Now with Becks expected back nothing can stop us making the play-offs!!!!!

nice photos! I don't really understand how the team could be so bad and then start winning. The teams they play against often have players sent off?? and sent off for things that I see galaxy players do but only get yellow cards for?? But I'm glad they're winning

congrats to both teams. Wasn't it great to see old Wazza tuck one away for england. That'll be a lod off seeing as he'd had bit of a scoreless run for the three lions. I think the lad will be chuffed with both results

so the galaxy need to win two more games and then they will be in the play-offs yes? what do they play off for do they have a league title based on the season like la liga or epl???

Yes they need to win their two remaining games - maths isn't my strong suit but I believe allowing for the other teams competing that only 2 wins will definitely mean they make it.
Pru, I sort of see what you mean but I wouldn't read much into it. I think the quotes from Yallop and the team with respect to Becks return are very nice and supportive. Which is great to see as no matter how high profile Becks may be and how much attention he brings - he is still human and hes in a new country and at a new club and it hasn't been an easy few months so he needs to feel welcomed and supported by those around him so I hope there will be a lot more of that :)

To the person who asked about the red cards - well to be honest the La Galaxy have been very lucky with some rulings as a result I think the conspiracy theorists are going to be in full swing but personally I think it's just down to luck rather than used bills in brown paper bags :))

I think it's more than conspiracy theorists finding things a bit sketchy Anna. I've heard Galaxy fans even admitting the consistency of calls going the Galaxy's way is dodgier than a three dollar bill.

This is the scenarios for the G's to make the play-offs
If the G's win their last 2 games against NYRB and Chi, with 6 points they are in the playoffs.
If the G's ties NY, then beat Chi : then either KC needs to lose OR the Rapids needs to lose or tie.
If the G's beats NY, but ties Chi : then they can't catch Chi. So then both KC needs to lose AND Colorado needs to lose or tie.
If the G's lose either game, or tie both games, they can't get the 4 points to catch Chi and KC, and they are out.
So basically they really need to win both games otherwise they need to rely on other results going their way.
In MLS the season is made up of the regular season and post season. The team that wins the regular season which is like an epl contest : so the team with the most points earned over 30 games wins the supporters sheild. The top 8 teams from the regular season go on to the post-season play-offs and they play for the MLS Cup.
