Charity Match: Galaxy v Hollywood

David Beckham warms up for charity game

I hope those who could be there enjoyed themselves at a fun game for a good cause! There were lots of goals with the Galaxy winning 12-4. David Beckham started for the Galaxy and scored two goals in the first-half! The first goal from 25 yards out in open play in the tenth minute and the second from outside the box in the 32nd minute. He also had three assists in the second-half. All the details here. The first of the photos are in the gallery. There are also photos of Becks getting his coffee fix in his porsche ahead of the game and heading out to Mastro's for a romantic dinner with Victoria afterwards.

After the game, David Beckham spoke with reporters and said, "Steve McClaren was not here but I saw him. [on Saturday] It'sprobably the best I've felt in quite a few months now. It was important for me to get a good workout tonight. I've been working hard trying to get myself fit."He added, "I want to be involved in every game possible but I've got to get my fitness right, I can't put myself up for selection if I'm not 100 percent fit, or at least 90-95 percent fit. I need to get my fitness right and when it is right we will see. After tonight though, I feel great."

Talking about his move to MLS, Becks said, "I am loving it, it's been great so far, very positive and smooth... apart from the season. Next year I hope will be a lot different."

Galaxy coach resigns

(Source) The coach of the LA Galaxy, Frank Yallop, has resigned effective immediately. David Beckham told reporters, "Obviously, we're disappointed. We felt that he was the right man. We felt that he's a good manager and a strong character with the team. But, we've all said, he's not walking away. He's looking after himself and he's looking after his family. It's what we would all do. We're sad to see him leave and we wish him all the luck and all the best." Yallop is widely rumored to be making the move to the San Jose MLS expansion team, more here.

i stumbled upon this article on espn when i was searching for the final result of the match

http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story?id=479080&cc=5901

i find it to be in very poor reporting, seeing as beckham has played full matches with the galaxy, and they reported the 83 minutes today was the most he has ever gotten.

i just dont like to see david being slighted, especially after he flew all the way back from england after a full match, and stuck it out with LA the very next day.

while there has been a lot of positive feed back from the true fans of soccer in the united states (which still is nothing compared to the rest of the world)its reports like this that have people saying negative things about him and i just think its all very sad

Sounds like David had a great game :-) I think as you pointed out Anna it was always clear that Yallop didn't like the spotlight and would go to a team with less of a profile. Good luck to him. Now let's hope they can find a good coach :-) There have been rumours that McClaren could take the job as he may be sacked as Manager of England. May I just say, please for the sake of all that is holy NOOOOOO :-)

Glad his boys were there to see Dad score a couple of goals! Unbelievably cute :-)

thanks for the pictures, Maybe they'll get Capello? He is a decent manager and he admitted publicly he was wrong about Becks and had effed up which was at least big of him

Yallop going may be good or not so good news depending on his replacement but Lalas is/was the bigger problem and until he goes we got problems

Beginning good week everybody.Yellop will never be a successful manager (sorry for him). Capello wants England coach him better that MacClaren.Klismann would be the ideal manager lives in L.A. him, but the L.A. Galaxy should provide a great team.We hopefully well! ! ! ! MacClaren? ? ? Oh my God help you!

ESPN is reporting that Bruce Arena has just left the Red Bulls.

I think he has the best odds of ending up as the G's new coach.

It seems the game was very fun. I´d like to see the goals, at least. :-(

Anyway, good lucky to Yallop.
And hopefully LA Galaxy will find a good coach for the team. A coach that plays BEAUTIFUL attacking football, not Capello...PLEASE!!!

Many rumours will appear now.
I think Klinnsman would be nice. He lives in US, it´s a great motivator and tactician, plays beautiful attacking football and can be a good influence to atract decent players.

lol ummm just a heads up Becks isn't playing on Thursday. He is playing exhibitions Weds and Sun. So whatever you do check your ticket and don't miss him!!

I agree Siniestro :) I'd like to see Klinnsman too but we will be in for a lot of speculation in the interim ;) Arena is definitely a possibility. I'm not that familiar with him, do you know anything about him George? Would he make a good coach? If he does get the job then I hope he is!
