David Beckham training clip

Update - First of the photos of David Beckham from the match against Austria are in the gallery. I have also added a couple of photos of Becks enjoying a boys night out after the LA Galaxy friendly in Vancouver to the gallery.

The FA have put a video of yesterday's England training session online here. I've added it to youtube for anyone having trouble viewing it.

(Source) Former England player Ray Wilkins has urged that David Beckham play in next week's match between England and Croatia saying -
"If he's fit I'd play David because he gives us outstanding quality. Young players have plenty to offer but when it comes to the nitty-gritty games like the Croatia match - and please God I hope we're still in it - then you need some know-how."

"Trust me, when we play the Croats we are going to need a bit of know-how. He's as important to England as Steven Gerrard or Michael Owen."

"We need to have him around. He can make sure the ball is put exactly where it needs to be."

"It's been forgotten what he did against Greece - it was forgotten too quickly."

"Before the free-kick that won the game, he took eight others and I don't think he hit the target. But he had the bottle to stand up and take the last one, which flew into the net."

"That match showed he's a man who will rise to the occasion and, absolutely, he could do that against Croatia."
Details of tomorrows starting-line-up which as expected includes David Beckham are online here.

David and Victoria Beckham on Parkinson?

It was rumored a couple of months ago that David Beckham had been invited to appear as a guest on Michael Parkinson's last ever show. There were then rumors that due to scheduling conflicts Becks would not appear but that Victoria and the Spice Girls might appear instead. The latest rumor is that the scheduling issues have been resolved and now "Michael Parkinson will interview David and then get Victoria and the Spice Girls on for a chat as well." According to The Telegraph. Let's hope this latest rumor translates into reality :)

Thanks Anna, I can't say my nerves are handling the three upcoming games well. When I started trying to figure out the MLS expansion draft and various acquisition rules I knew I must be desperate for a distraction!

I adored Ray Wilkin's remarks myself. Others too often seem to forget who they know Becks to be, or are too cowardly to go against all the crap written about him. He sometimes seemed the only player against Greece!

I can't believe what's said about the hundred caps, starting with the implication that that's what motivates him to play for his country!!! Imagine. So I agreed what what Wilkins said about him deserving for England to make sure he gets them. (I mean how many players have had to endure death threats and physical attacks on their families to continuing playing for the country? To say nothing of all he did for same above and beyond being player and captain.)

Enough morning tirade, I'm off to wishing Becks top health and two brilliant performances this week, whatever else happens.

There has been increasing speculation that if England does not qualify for Euro 2008, then Beckham will play his last game with England against Croatia.

I can understand the idea that Beckham will probably not be with England at World Cup 2010 and that they should start developping younger players, but do you think the FA will leave him hanging on 99 caps???

Hi George :) It is always hard to know what the FA will do in any given circumstances. Theres a lot that will impact on this, that is as yet unknown. We have to wait to see the Israel v Russia game before we even start to think about this stuff.
