Extreme Makeover: Home Edition

Last updated 11/6 at 6.30am - David Beckham has arrived in Vancouver, photos in the gallery. Becks has also updated his Blog you can read it here.

Here's a clip of David Beckham's appearance on Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.

Real Madrid invitation

It is being reported via Diario AS that Real Madrid have invited LA Galaxy to contest the Santiago Bernabeu friendly trophy. AS isn't always reliable. In fact they have reported that Real Madrid and LA Galaxy planned a match once before and they were mistaken, so I have been cautious about posting this news. However, it has been picked up by Skysports, The Telegraph and others now, so I'm including it but at this time it's just an invitation and a rumor, there is no match for December 5 confirmed by either club. I'll update this as soon as there is more news. Thanks to Laura for the heads up!

People's 2007 sexiest man alive

Becks is amongst the contenders for this years sexiest man alive title! Of course! You can check out People's top 100 sexy men and also vote for Becks in the sexiest eyes catergory, online here. Thanks to Notorious for sharing the People links.

More from yesterday's charity match

There are more post-match quotes from David Beckham in the following two articles: People have an article on yesterday's charity match that raised more than 100k for those affected by the southern California wildfires, here. and The Times has a good write-up online here. There is also a video on ITN. It features one of Becks goals.

Plus another 100 untagged photos of David Beckham from yesterday's game are in the gallery.

Other news

There is an interesting article online at ESPN about the kind of new coach the LA Galaxy are likely to recruit.

The association of football statisticians have released a list of the top 100 football players of all time based an analysis of statistics and David Beckham is in 44th position and only the second englishman on the list, you can view the full list here.

Finally, one last piece of good news! Wednesday's friendly exhibition game will also be televised by GOL TV. Here's the info, thanks to Ben! "The exhibition match between the Whitecaps and the Los Angeles Galaxy will kickoff at 7:00 p.m. and will be broadcast live on GOLTV, Canada's only 24-hour network dedicated exclusively to soccer. Lee Godfrey and former Whitecaps goalkeeper Paul Dolan will be providing the commentary for the broadcast. For more information, visit goltv.ca."

Thanks Laura :) I saw the news on tribal football but I'm really cautious about that source :) Did skysport say Dec 6? As everyone else is saying Dec 5. Hopefully there will be a press release from RM or the Galaxy today and then we will know it's definite. It would be nice for Becks to see RVN and some of his old team-mates :)

Thanks Kat for the link, though I don't suppose it really matters to much where he has gone now that he has. The big question is who will replace him! Who would you like to see?

Thanks for the videos, Anna.

And this list from AFS shows why I don´t like football lists. LOL.
Where´s George Best, Cantona, Solskjaer????

Anyway, this picture is funny: http://davidbeckham.fans-online.com/photos/today/becks-char45.jpg.html

Lot's of info, thanks Anna! Noted the Becks' mention, in The Times, of training with an English club off-season. Hope that means the Arsenal rumor comes true. I really like Arsene Wenger, and Becks could use to get out of the Galaxy's "circus" and into a good footy-focused, stable situation (where he's not being used for anything!!!!) for a while.

Galaxy coach search article was interesting too, although I can barely stand to read through a Lalas quote ("high-profile, sexy candidate"!? how about at least STARTING the criteria list with great coach...twit). Something I'd been wondering was whether there were salary caps for "off the field" staff. Apparently not. Which makes the claim that the current player payroll cap is based on available resources fairly hypocritical. Yuch.

On the bright side. Becks news, smiles back while playing, and England call-up are all so great. As are his statements about being more cautious about fitness this time round...hope that holds firm. All good thoughts for tomorrow's match!!!

Hi,

the Santiago Bernabéu Trophy will take place on December 5, 2007. But it is open against which team Real Madrid will play. Hope it will be LA, but I'm not sure. But I think it would be nice for David.

Ciao everybody.Thank for pictures. The happy face of a child who has had the opportunity to know David, also makes me happy (Samuele and Gabriel have tried a healthy sense of envy, I understand them). We started to vote for him.Tomorrow him play, and this is another occasion for him to regain fitness ideal to be able to help her country.Fingers crossed.Loredana, Samuel, Gabriel

Ah, to only have GOL TV reception! Still, I'm crossing fingers for Sopcast & thank you in advance if you can find info about that (all my Sopcast bookmarks for schedules have now come up with 404s or no permission to view!).

I see "also available online at goltv.ca" on their web site and "more information coming soon"--it had better be SOON because the match is almost 24 hours away! =) But hopefully that'll be broadcast in a way we can view...or maybe I will need to figure out a Canadian proxy if it's only available to Canadian IPs!

Honestly I'm not sure who would be right for LA Galaxy, but they need a tactical coach as can be clearly seen through their corners. Landon and David (when he was available), serviced so many good balls in and it was as if the team had no idea where they should be making their runs or what to do if they got the ball. You would think with David's amazing kicks they would have started practicing as soon as news broke of his coming to the United States. The team has a lot of talent with Donavon and Cannon to name a few, so its really quite shocking to me the way they played this year, I was expecting more from them despite the round of injuries.

On a seperate note, Anna I know you've posted stuff in the past for birthday cards and such for David, and I think you even said you had talked to his "people."

I am part of a non-profit organization called Grapevine Aid to support UNICEF, Malaria No More, and the Save Darfur Coalition, and we were wanting to contact David about getting some jerseys signed to auction off. Could you help lead me in the direction of getting in contact with his "people." lol

Sorry Kat I don't really know to much but perhaps you want to contact his publicist or his US based agent. If you google you can get there details and then it's a matter of writing and/or e-mailing and with any luck you'll get a response. That's all I can suggest.

He should be out and about there this weekend I would say the team will arrive at least 2 days before the game as they will most likely go there straight from Vancouver :)
