David Beckham at England training

david beckham training

Steven Gerrard welcomed David Beckham's return to the international fold this morning saying, "He's a fantastic player and a good friend of mine... I've played with him for a long time and it's good to see him back." Becks is expected to start for England this Friday against Austria. It will be his 98th cap!First of the photos of David Beckham training with England this morning are in the gallery.

Thanks to Ben here is a link to David Beckham's assist for Edson Buddle's goal during Sunday's game against the Minnesota Thunder.

Hatton: Becks 'a real class act'

The Sun reports that British boxer Ricky Hatton has invited David Beckham to attend his showdown at the MGM Hotel in Las Vegas on December 8. The Spice Girls are in concert in Las Vegas on the same night so Becks is going to be a busy man running between the two.

Hatton attended a LA Galaxy game with David Beckham recently and the two have remained in touch supporting each others training. Hatton said, "We went to a Galaxy match and he signed shirts and boots for me and my son Campbell. I'm impressed. He's so humble. He asked for my phone number and he keeps texting me."

"I'm always turning to my dad and saying look here's another message from Becks asking how the training's going."

"He is softly spoken, but a good laugh and a real class act... I can’t speak any higher of him. When you think how much he is in the public eye and to remain so humble proves he is a class act."
More here.

The Times reports that Arsenal have offered David Beckham the chance to train with them, to help maintain his fitness during MLS's off-season. David Beckham recently told media that the LA Galaxy were fine with him training at another club. This is not a loan arrangement. There will be no contracts. He will not play any competitive football. This is purely a training arrangement and it still remains unconfirmed.

The new boots David Beckham will soon be sporting from Adidas are now available for pre-order. All the info is online here. Thanks to Ben!

Gotta admit, Arsenal is not the team I was hoping he'd go to in London, I was aiming due east to another team rumoured a few weeks ago...but Arsenal's top quality football at the mo so training with them would keep him in good form. (Unconfirmed though this is.)

It's nice to read another testimonial to David's great personality. :D

just watch ESPN Sportscenter, they reported that Arsenal offered Beckham to train with them but LA Galaxy said that Beckham is not going to. I don't know if LA Galaxy was the one who did not want him to train or Beckham himself...but I would think that it would serve LA Galaxy well for Beckham to train with Arsenal whilst his in London for the Spice Girls tour.

Definitely no arguments that Arsenal's the best in that area, I'd just like the personal satisfaction and poetic nature of having him go to a certain elsewhere. ;) As a fan of his I want what's best for him. Arsenal's one of the top teams in the EPL period so it's fortunate they're close to him, training with a team like that will surely keep his fitness level up. Even if it's not a match situation.

Hey Marie :) I think the media has really made a mess of this story. They keep reporting a possible training arrangement as a possible loan then they say the LA Galaxy won't agree to a loan *not that Becks has asked for one! lol* and so then it sounds like hes not allowed to train - they are talking at cross purposes and confusing everyone lol. The club has made no official statements in opposition to him training elsewhere at this stage - however, it's not a definite thing anyway :)
