David Beckham recall expected

David Beckham meets one of the Scilly Isles youngest residents

Great News! The Sunday Times reports that Becks will be included in the England squad that England Manager, Steve McClaren will name next Friday ahead of the November 16 friendly against Austria and Nov 20 final Euro 2008 qualifier against Croatia. The Daily Mail quotes a source as saying, "He would play on one leg for England... He has been working hard to get fit again and is confident he would not let England down." We're confident too! Thanks to Galaxy23 for the link.

McClaren is in Los Angeles to watch David Beckham train, as well as chat with him ahead of England's matches later this month and is expected to attend tomorrow's charity game. Thanks to Deb for the heads-up.

Preview: Galaxy v Hollywood United

Tomorrow the LA Galaxy will play a charity match against Hollywood United, who's line-up will include Brandon Routh of "Superman Returns," Anthony LaPaglia of "Without a Trace," Costas Mandaylor of "Saw IV," Jimmy Jean-Louis of "Heroes" and Def Leppard guitarist Viv Campbell. The rest of the line-up and details are online here.

If you are able to go along and support a good cause, enjoy the game! All proceeds will go to the Salavation Army and Red Cross and will be used to help those affected by the recent wild fires in Southern California.

Unfortunately, there has been no mention of the match being televised. However, for those of us who can't be there, we should at least get to see some photos hopefully. On a more positive note the Galaxy friendly against the Vancouver Whitecaps on Nov 7 will be televised on KWHY and I will have sopcast details for fans who don't get that channel later in the week.

More from the Scilly Isles

Here are a few more articles about Becks visit from The Cornishman: more info on the Adidas advert being filmed in the Scillies and quotes from Becks online here - some of the Mums who got baby photos with Becks talk about meeting him here - staff at the local pub talk about having a famous guest here and a local grandmother talks about having Becks sign her shirt. Lots of really nice comments and stories, well worth a read if you didn't find them via The Cornishman link posted on Thursday.

Other News

David Beckham has added his autograph to an artwork being sold by the Professional Footballers Association to raise money for the £1m Rehabilitation Unit at the new Manchester Children's Hospital. Full details here.

The Sun are convinced the England players have formed a special knitwear brotherhood and have a picture of Becks, Frank Lampard and Steven Gerrard as proof here.

Awesome news re: televised Vancouver match, I don't get that channel but Sopcast would be brill. That said I have a haaaard time working out the Sopcast schedule. :( According to all my calculations the last UEFA Man Utd match should have been on and then it ended up being Rangers vs. Barcelona! I might need a bit of hand-holding on this one Anna! ;)

Occurred to me maybe, just maybe, there'll be a radio broadcast of today's Hollywood match on 1700AM? Since they are the radio broadcast home of the Galaxy. http://www.sandiego1700.com/pages/main
Won't hurt to tune in and check anyway.

The best I can find is a running commentary here at least this way we know Becks started and we'll know the score and any major plays.
