Beckham's New Teammates at L.A. Galaxy
In recent news, we hear of two new teammates for Becks over at the L.A. Galaxy.
First the team officially announced that Carlos Ruiz returns as LA brokered a deal with FC Dallas to bring Ruiz back to the club in a trade announced last Tuesday morning (1/15/2008).New Galaxy head coach Rudd Gullit was quoted:
"With the right players around him, especially with (Landon) Donovan and David Beckham giving him crosses, I think he is the exact player we need up front to win games."
Secondly at this time although not officially announced or confirmed by the Galaxy, a number of news outlets are reporting that former Newcastle defender Celestine Babayaro has agreed to a deal to re-unite with his former boss, Rudd Bullit at the L.A. Gallaxy. Here are some links to read on these reports. Setanta Sports , The Shields Gazette , ThisDay Online .Also, TeamTalk and MSLNet are both saying that L.A. Galaxy have refused to comment on the reports.More Unconfirmed reports that many sites are talking about and that at least one site is "scoffing loudly" at. The reports that seems to have been started by The Mirror claim that "Newcastle United are out to sign David Beckham in a plan hatched by Mike Ashley and backed by Kevin Keegan." Don't hold your breath on this one but if you'd like to read more about the gossip, here are a few more links. Sporting Life and Goal.com.

Sunday mirror is quoting Gareth Barry"There is no one that deserves it more, and he has been a great player and captain for England so, yes, it would be really great to see that after has come so close."

DBFO-Site Talk
Thanks.First, I want to thank everyone who have been voicing their opinions, hopefully we will find a balance of reporting the things that you want to hear while still changing things up a little :) Please continue to give your opinions, suggestions, etc.
Forum
I have mentioned before that there would be a forum going up, at first I thought of installing a regular forum but I am looking into implementing a social network application that I have been studying for a couple months, it includes a Forum section but also has a fully-fledge social network aspect, a chat room and other goodies. I will try to trim it down so it's not too many features and hence could be overwhelming at first... then will post the link here when it's all ready. The downside though is that the forum isn't as full of option as other forum scripts. I will make a decision soon on this, if you'd like to voice your opinions on this, it would be good. 1) social network with forum/chat/other features or 2) just a regular forum as have come to know them. If we do go with 2), we could always add the social aspect at a later time too.
Images and help
The image gallery issue has finally been fixed and I've added some more images. Since there are over 9,000 images in the galleries now, it will be a challenge to import some more images, specially older ones that haven't already been added. So I ask that if you notice any duplicates (although I am trying hard not to) - please let me know so I can remove them. I will try and make this easier by including a link to report "inapropriate or duplicate" images directly from the image page.
Also, I have already posted a request for this but if anyone is interested in helping to write articles or any other way, please email me at franco (at) media-discounters (dot) come. Thanks to those who have already come forward.
Syndication / RSS Feeds
You will notice in the sidebar on the left a new section for an RSS feed. Thanks to the Fan(s) who suggested this. Hopefully it will be of use to many of you. Always let me know if you'd like to see new things.

Becks to Newcastle! Newcastle!! Pardon me while I go die laughing. ;)
Great bits of news, thanks for posting them. And for the RSS, that makes me a happy girl.
As for the forum, I'd enjoy either! I think the web2.0 stuff allows better chances for personal expression (assuming it's a suite that gives users a profile, etc.) whereas a forum allows better chances for just plain talk. I'll be interested to see which ones people would like more, but I would have fun on either.

Can someone translate for the internet impaired? What is the difference between the two options? Does anyone monitor the tone or content of the discussions in either or both cases? I've seen a few I wouldn't enjoy having to open up again, but don't know whether that was due to how they were run or not.
Thanks in advance to anyone who has a minute to explain the two options.

Franco, I'm sure you'll have noticed these but just in case, there are some lovely photos around of Becks in Sierra Leone with the children he's visiting, as well as what looks like an unplanned kick-about. The accompanying stories are equally moving. Justjared has a bunch and the UNICEF site has a release out as well.

David to Newcastle?. It seems like a dream impossible. The forum, is fantastic, but I do not advice, because I can not express my thoughts well in English. Franco I think that you decide well. Franco can write better your email, because I did not understand it. Sorry. Thanks Loredana Samuele, Gabriel

For the forum idea, I think I kind of answered my own question, I'll probably install a normal forum script and integrate the social aspect when I have a solution to integrate to two, it's a project I'm working on so might as well wait till it's done.
Diane- The only difference is that the "normal forum script" has more "forum features" like ability to have moderators, etc... like most forums you see out there, the one that comes with the other script I was considering is plain and basic without much forum features.

Hey, franco it would be great if there was a forum and an interactive chat. It would be awesome to talk about becks! Wow, that guy won the contest..i would die 4 that chance,2 shakes becks arm and to kis him on the cheek..i wish. Thanx 4 the pics!

Dear Franco,
I'd like to thank you for taking on this tough and demanding task. I'm sure you will enjoy it and so will we! There is only one suggestion I have and i desperately hope you listen to it.
This was the only regularly updated site on David Beckham that i could visit to keep in touch with all the news that related to David Beckham the FOOTBALLER. Though Anna would include the other aspects of beckham's life (fashion, etc.), it remained focused primarily on the sporting side of the persona that is Beckham. I am a die hard football and Beckham fan, and although i like to read about the other aspects of his life, there are millions of "gossip" sites out there for that. So as long as you keep this site geared towards Beckham's football career, you will have a regular happy customer :)
Thanks
George
PS: I know you must have gotten lots of messages with what everybody likes and i'm sure its not always fun to be told how to do what you do.... i simply wanted to express my opinion. Cheers.
3:35 PM
Hi George - I really appreciate all the opinions, I realize I won't be able to please every single visitor to this site but it's my aim to please the majority and provide something for everyone. The focus is definitely going to be more on his football career as much as it's possible as many of you have said this is what you enjoy most.
For example, is this post more focused on his football world like you would like it to be?
5:17 PM
It perfect franco... keep up the good work!
George
