Becks training with Arsenal

David Beckham trained outside with the Arsenal team today, more details from The BBC here. He sported an Arsenal training kit with a Nike swoosh above his 23. Photos are in the gallery. Thanks to all who came to give me the heads up, I appreciate it!
(Source) Arsenal Manager, Arsene Wenger told the press "We are helping him to work on his fitness and trying to keep it as quiet as possible. We don't want to make something complicated out of something that is very simple. He doesn't live far away and always loved Arsenal. That's why we help him."
Wenger added: "He's just come back from a long break and has had injuries. He will not be playing in any games and will not be registered. He is just training."
The Arsenal manager also insisted that there was nothing untoward with Beckham's attire, saying, "We give a kit to everyone who practices, when a triallist comes from anywhere in the world we give him a kit."

New Intimately Beckham Ad
There's a new Intimately Beckham ad for the Spring - Summer US Campaign in the gallery! I like the black and white what do you think?It has also been reported that David Beckham began training at Arsenal on Wednesday. The Independent say Becks has started work in the London Colney gym and will train with the Arsenal first team when fully fit.

The Italian press said that Capello next Wednesday, will meet David, we hope that this news is true, and bring happy news to Becks. I hope also that David return to natural hair color, because it's still too young for the hair white .

I really don't like Beck's new hair. it is too grey and white. it makes him look much older. espeially when some people critise him too old and wanted some young players to replace him. it would be much nicer and younger if he changes back to his natural hair colour.

Seems like some ManU faithful are really hurt seeing Becks in Arsenal colors, Ben, not just because they think it goes against his history as a player, but they also think it's wrong for him to do as a fan. As if he's helping the enemy. I know its emotional but that still seems harsh to me. I'm just so happy to see him someplace where he'll get good physio treatment and some competitive training! This is really when he'll be coming back from his injuries and it has to be done right this time.
Anna, what does your family think? And Syd? Is it a big deal?

really disappointed to see David wearing an Arsenal crest. I have no prob with him practising with them or with him wearing the colors, if he wore a navy blue fugly track suit okay, but it shouldn't have had the badge on it because hes not an Arsenal player
Why be photographed in the full kit and jersey with badge when hes just there for a couple of weeks?

I think we don't have to make a big deal about the arsenal kit. Maybe they only want to make him a pleasure with is own kit wiht the number 23 on it. And he is to polite to turn it down. I could understand if ManU Fans will be hurt, but hope they will forgive him. As I know his relationship with Ferguson is still not good, so he could not train there. (Please let me know if I'm wrong).

His fitness is the most important thing, and Wenger has said anyone who trains with them wears their gear so its not a big deal to me.

For the person who asked why Becks wore the kit I have added a quote from Wenger from Arsenal.com where he says that everyone who practices is given an Arsenal kit I hope that will make you feel a little better about it :)

no it doesn't make me feel better. He is not some triallist who will pee his pants with excitement to get some Arsenal kit he is David Beckham and I do not believe that he has to do it.

I don't mind the lad training with Arsenal not at all and I haven't read anything to suggest Man United fans have a problem with him using the London Colney facilities as they are handy for him without a doubt.
He's simply going to be re-classified by some and they're going to feel a bit grieved about that, you may not understand it but it's actually a sign of the place the lads had in their hearts for so long that they're upset to have to do it. You see there are players we love who aren't Reds, there are Reds we love who aren't players, there are former players we love, there are former players we love who went to our bitter enemies like Schmeichel who we love and admire and feel gratitude toward but they're not Reds, and then there are former players we love and miss who are Reds. Becks was always in that final catergory by his own declaration but now hes going to be moved by some fans into the former players we love who aren't Reds catergory because for some Reds you can't be a fully paid up member with equal status in the die-hard Red Davils fan club if you're trotting about with an Arsenal crest on for any reason. That's all. No hypocrisy, if their own brother wore the Arsenal kit it'd go down like a lead balloon too.
The lad is steeped in football rivalry history and knows the score better than most. He used to put the Tottenham Hotspur kit on for his Grandad and then take it off when he got home. He knows all about these things and how people feel. He talked about his sons being sent Barcelona kits and Chelsea kits but how they could never wear them outside of the house. He knows, he made a call, fairs fair, no surprises for the lad, nothing unpredictable has happened here.
The only thing that bothered me at all was Wengers comment about the lad having always loved Arsenal. That was an inflammatory comment and my opinion of him went down a lot.

I've just recently read both Giggs and Keane's autobiographies and I understand what Syd has said about ManU and Arsenal. From the books, you can really see the rivalry of these two clubs.
I also don't understand Wenger's comment about Becks always loving Arsenal. It's actually the first time I've heard about it.
As for Becks wearing the Arsenal kit... I don't put much thought about it. Becks asked them (Arsenal) a favor and maybe he was just too nice to refuse to wear the kit when it was laid out for him to train. I do understand the ManU fans sentiments. But then again, Becks is Man United Born and Breed.

You've clarified matters thoroughly. Wenger's statement grated on me as well each time I saw it, completely unnecessary. It surprised me that he turned out to be a person that would capitalize in that way, which is unfortunate.
I can see that Becks would understand the subtleties and ramifications of pulling that shirt on. Would have been nice if they'd just offered him a blue track suit, don't see where the badge was necessary for a run out in training!
