Becks speaks on Capello's decision

Every news article up until today have been quoting Becks' sentiments on a possible rejection PRIOR to Capello's decision. Interviews that took place while he was in Brazil. However, today we get his thoughts on the coach's decision AFTER the fact.

(Source) He admitted that he agreed with Capello's decision and that it would have been unfair to select him to be in his first England squad. He also "half-expected it" because he knew the type of coach he was from working with him in the past. I think we all knew he was "half-expecting it" just by the tone in his voice and the way he was almost predicting it and preparing himself emotionally during those Brazil video interviews that we posted.

Here are a few other quotes from our man himself.

"I totally respect that and totally understand that," he said on Sky Sports News. "There are a lot of Premiership players who have played 15 games in the last two months and I haven't played a game since December - so to be called into the squad was probably unfair."

"It's always disappointing when you're not included in an England squad."

"The thing is I half expected it because I know what Fabio Capello is like as a manager and if he thinks you're not fit and ready to play then you won't be in the team."

"I'd done everything I could to make myself available, I worked hard for a month with Arsenal,"

"I did go to Sierra Leone and Brazil, but those trips were only four days long and for the rest of the month I was training very hard."

Other quotes from the same time reported by Xinhua includes the following comments on his fitness:

"This is the best shape I've been in for a year now," and "The whole last season I was not 100 percent fit. Physically I feel great."

On L.A. Galaxy he had this to say:

"We have to win something," and "We can't sit back and let happen what happened last season. As long as we start well and win our games, we've got every chance."

Adoption rumors

I know many readers don't enjoy the unconfirmed rumors much but still many like to be "in the know" about everything that surrounds Becks and today there are internet rumors that David & Victoria are wanting to adopt an African baby girl. To keep this short here are two quotes from Telegraph that outlines the gist of these rumors:

Apparently from a close friend of the couple:

"If there is one subject that can move him to tears, it’s the thought of being unloved, uncared for and with no hope or future," the friend said.

"It was only when David starting planning his trip to Sierra Leone that they began talking about adoption again. It’s clear they both think adoption is great."

And probably more reliably, from a spokesman for the couple:

"They both publicly have said that while they admire people who go through the adoption process, their focus is raising their own three boys."

Beckham voted world's sexiest footballer

Thanks to forum poster "simonmurray" from whom I stole this funky news tidbit. A survey conducted by The People's Club polled 2,500 people and Beckham came numero uno. I'm sure the ladies here (ok maybe some guys too) were not really surprised by this result :)

DBFO News

Photos.
There are some new pictures in the gallery and you will probably also noticed that the galleries are being kept cleaner than usual, this is a result of great work a fellow DBFOer has been doing in there... Her name is Laurance. So thank you Laurance, I'm sure everyone here appreciate the effort to remove the duplicate photos and keep everything organized.
I'd also like to thank the DBFOer CrisDRJB with the help finding new photos and everyone else who is lending a helping hand to make this place better :)

Other sites changes.
You might notice little changes as we test different things. Some advertising might change location as we test different networks. If any of you get annoyed by some of the advertising or anything else, please let me know your opinions, by email at franco(-at-)media-discounters.com (replace the (-at-) with the @ symbol). My goal is to make the advertising needed to support this site optimized yet not so numerous and cumbersome that it ruins the experience for visitors. Most likely too, after I am done developing a new script that will run the whole site, there will be some design changes as I've received some comments about some of the font /links/ background colors being hard on the eyes.
If you have any comments or also suggestions on what you'd like to see here, please let me know. You can share them in the forums in the section for that or to me personally by email.

just finished watching the england game and in my view david bently did not do anything that david beckham cant do better. I know hes a good player but far too full of himself for my liking and shows none of becks class and graciousness. x x

i agree with you deb i was watching the england game too and i couldnt help but notice how bently was playing and i think all of the chances he had with kicks could of been done just as good if not better by beckham, im glad england won but i hope next time they play beckham will be in the squad because he is still in top shape for the job

I was glad to hear that fans chanted for Becks: 'there is only one Beckhams'. We knew that all the way. Hope this will give Capello something to think about and bring Becks back to the team. I agree with deb that Bently can't replace Becks for sure.
