100th Cap Anticipation & Videos

Determined to Stay with England
The Guardian has published a lengthy piece about David's ambitions for not only his 100th cap, but his continued bid to play a part in the England team. Much of the quotes were taken from today's press conference in England. Whether the role is big or small, he's determined to keep contributing:

He is ready to accept a reduced role, such as that of substitute. Of course, in his imagination that need not be a minor part. "I want to continue as long as possible," Beckham explained, "whether I'm in the starting XI or whether I'm a squad player who comes on and takes a free-kick to win the game perhaps."

More can be found here.

Becks's Place in Soccer History
Though this is a purely opinion piece, Yahoo! Sports has published an article about David's place in English football history and the buzz that surrounds it. It's light reading for avid fans. :)

As the article points out, rumours that David was injured during the Galaxy FanFest this weekend are completely untrue. He was merely given a stretching cool-down routine after coming off.

No Armband for Becks
John Terry has been handed the captain's armband for the friendly vs. France, ending speculation about whether or not David would be given it to celebrate his century. However, according to The Guardian, Becks has backed the decision. Update numerous initial reports stated the squad was told John Terry would captain England for the match, but this morning's reports state the armband has instead been given to Rio Ferdinand. Presumably Beckham's attitude remains the same!

London Training Video
The England squad trained in snowy London today, and the FA.com has video highlights of the training session.

About Free Kicks
If you missed last night's 60 Minutes, here's a blurb about one of the topics covered: how Becks manages his patented free kicks.

"I literally stand here, take one look at the goalkeeper and then just concentrate on the ball," Beckham explained on CBS news magazine 60 Minutes.

"Because I know that if you put it in the exact spot that you want it, there's no way the goalkeeper's going to get it."

Key Moments in Becks's Career
The Mirror has a large tribute page outlining 10 key moments in Beckham's career, with several videos, here.

Sharpie Golf Commercial
If you haven't seen the brief Sharpie “golf" advert on TV, which associates David's name with the brand but doesn't feature his face or voice, there's a clip available here:

Becks at FanFest
Here's a very short video of David at the aforementioned LA Galaxy FanFest:

It looks like one of your sources was wrong... Rio Ferdinand will be captain:

and just my gut feeling, but if Capello isn't handing Becks the armband for the 100th cap, i don't believe he will start the game. He'll probably come off the bench unfortunately... hopefully though, if that is the case, it won't be for 10 minutes.
