Becks & Galaxy Arrive in China

LA Galaxy Arrive in China
The Galaxy have arrived safe and sound in China, to enraptured crowds who claimed "Beckham is our idol" (Source).

During their first press conference in Shanghai, Becks spoke about what he's doing to heighten his chances of receiving his century:

"All I can do now is to get my fitness and play as many games as possible. We will just have to wait and see."

As usual, the responsibility of rising to meet the love that's being displayed for him is very much on his mind. He said:

"It's great for all of us to see that people want us to be here. We have to play for everybody for that."

Read more about the press conference here.

There are a few pictures from the press conference in the gallery.

There isn't much else to report from China at this stage, but expect more news tomorrow!

Which Look Is Best?
For those keen on David's fashion sense, PopSugar UK is running a poll about which Beckham "look" is your favourite. There's no particular point to it, just your run-of-the-mill pop culture fun. (After you vote, stop by the fashion & style forum here at DBFO and tell us your choice!)

A More Serious Story
Onto a much more serious matter. I'm including this here because it's touching and may appeal to you as fans on that level, but also because the people in question are using broad channels to try to get a word of "thanks" to David.

A story has been published revealing the details of a gift Becks gave to the family of a murdered girl, Sally Anne, in England. Her murderer's trial has just finished and now the mother of the victim is reaching out to the press in an effort to express her thanks to David for the support he showed in their dark hour. Upon hearing that Sally Anne was a fan of his, Becks sent a signed #23 Real Madrid (he was playing with them at the time) jersey, which her father placed in her coffin.

The People reports:
And we can now reveal that the secret message he wrote in the shirt said: "To Sally Anne, A beautiful girl, love David Beckham."

Sally's mother said:
[...] "I never had the chance to thank David because we were concentrating on the investigation. Now I want him to know that his lovely gesture meant a lot to me and my family."

Here's hoping her message makes its way to him.

(The source for this information can be found here. Please be warned that the article includes a potentially disturbing account of the case, so if you are sensitive to violent themes skip it. All Becks-relevant details are in my synopsis above.)

You're welcome. And I believe he is scheduled to get to Hong Kong on the 6th. I posted about it a couple days ago with a schedule, so you can find some more info there. And I'll write more as time gets nearer. :)
