Some Positives After Saturday's Loss
The Aftermath
As the vast majority of articles pertaining to David today are about last night's loss, I'll spare you the links. Anybody who wants to read the negative reports can find plenty on Google or Yahoo news with little effort. A loss is a loss, that's all. David said:
"Not our best night," Beckham said. "In the first half we didn't play our best but we created chances. When you don't play good football you don't deserve to win."
and
"We've got a good team. We've got good players," Beckham said. "We just need to take the positive from this and move on."
Source for these quotes is here.
Conrad on Becks
Kansas City defender Jimmy Conrad answered fan questions about MLS for USA Today, one of which was about having Becks in the league. You can read his full, lengthy response here (it's the first question/answewr). Excerpt:
We've been searching for an A-lister for a long time, just to be a topic around the water cooler. We couldn't have found a better person than David Beckham. He has a lot of magnetism off the field where people care about what he's doing when he's just going for a walk or eating breakfast, but at the same time he can produce on the field and be a star player in the league as well. He's one of those guys that kind of transcends sport. I think we're fortunate to have him.
On a Positive Note...
On a positive note, last night's game in CO attracted a record sell-out crowd. This article reveals the numbers, and a small recap of Gullit's & Beckham's feelings about the Galaxy performance.
It's nice to see a writer try to find a positive angle.
If Beckham's sex appeal attracted many in the sellout, record crowd of 18,713, he stood out on the pitch for his vision, awareness, quick re-actions and sharp touches.
"He's an amazing physical specimen," said Major League Soccer commissioner Don Garber. "Tim Leiweke (president of AEG, which owns the Galaxy) said he's in the best shape of any athlete he's ever seen, and he's been in (sports) for 20-plus years."
The "Brawl" Video
This is dubious quality video, recorded from a television, but for those who missed the late fight between Galaxy and Rapids (started by Donovan) and enjoy seeing such displays of passion and emotion, you can see it here.
Look for more videos as they are available, and match photos to come.
