New Adidas Ad, son's education and more

New Adidas Ad
(source)David appears in a new Adidas ad which shows Beckham and other football stars visiting some of the world's smallest footballing nations, including the Isle of Scilly's two-team league.

"The campaign, called Dream Big, aims to provide an antidote to the hype that will surround the footballing superpowers playing in this summer's European Championship in June."
See source for more details.
Check the source for a nice video of the Ad too!

David really wants a baby girl
Continuing on Dina's post below, here are few more quotes from Ted, granted, these quotes are posted by Now Magazine, not the most reliable source (ok, not even close) but it's not the first time we post the "rumors" that David really wants to have a baby girl. It's not that hard to believe anyways, with 3 boys already why wouldn't he want a girl to add to the picture.
Here are his quotes on this:

"David really wants a girl," he says. "He's a great dad who has a lot of time with his boys and is brilliant with them."

and on tattoos:

"He said he'd never have any tattoos but unfortunately David just got carried away with them,' (...) 'I don't think he'll have any more, unless he has another baby."

Lil' Cruz Beckham to get Jewish schooling
Well not for the Judaism but apparently because it's one of the best schools for young children. Take it with a grain of salt as the source is the British tabloid "The Sun". Here's an article from The Jerusalem Post.

Game Highlights

Season Tickets?
Well they must have season tickets and/or they just like the Lakers very much :)
I wish I had that *bleep* gallery working yet so I could post the
pictures, but here are a few:

And you gotta hand it to the guy, he knows how to get good seat with a nice view of the game and such. Not only that but look at the effort he's making to look straight ahead, you can only imagine the internal struggle, fighting against every basic man instinct... that's dicipline lol!

But you can only fight instincts so much, no one is perfect, here's a well-published pic of last Tuesday's game where he is caught making the most out of his court-side tickets :D

Snuggling up watching the boys skate

Very disappointed in the tabloid (gossip) style posting, Franco.

You know what, I've been very patient with such ignorant comments so far and I've had it really. "tabloid-style" would be if I didn't indicate it as such and tried to pass it off as fact. Whenever it is gossip and from an unreliable source, I VERY clearly indicate it as such, sometimes, multiple times. So if you're not comfortable in reading gossip item, why not skip over those marked as such?
And if the problem is that you want to see ZERO gossip items on here, then maybe you are on the wrong site? This is a fan site and we will report everything that is related to David Beckham in the news, gossip or not (though like I said, we indicate it as such).
So I'll say it again, you're welcomed to go on another site if you are not statisfied with this one. We do our best to bring you the best quality we can and we would like this to serve people who will APPRECIATE it, not criticize it every way they can.
You've seen the content that I bring for months now so you've had plenty of opportunity to evaluate whether you want to continue reading articles on here or not.

And I don't want to discourage people from voicing their opinions but there always seems to be one comment whenever I post in this nature (probably by the same person). I suggest you just find news elsewhere if my posting style is so offensive to you and you can't skip over the parts you don't like.

Amen Franco.

I liked the post, it was cute. You and I both know from combing the news that we have chosen to omit some pretty damn serious, negative gossip in the past few weeks--this weekend alone.

Nothing that we post even holds a candle to the extent that's out there, stuff that would be truly upsetting to people here. To all fans. At least the posts here label rumours as such.

Thanks and yeah, exactly...we do.

Me, too... I've had my fill of those coming in and just complain. That's why I love to read comments from Loredana because she's always positive and very appreciative.

Each of us lead very busy lives and because of different time zones, sometimes news are posted a bit late. But if you're a true fan, you'll find everything David Beckham out there in just one click.

And to those really disappointed with this site and with Franco... hey, why not start your own site? One that would suit your taste.

Keep up the good work.

I do not find the post offensive but I do sense a bit of a desperation to oversensationalize, overdramatise and to create an image of David which some of the same tabloids, you have quoted, have tried to do for years.

Please do not get mad at the second poster who said he/she was "disappointed" because as a David Beckham fan, I know I do not have a voice on these tabloid sites you have been quoting. Any effort to defend/support David on their sites is never published or is heavily censored/edited to make them look good.
Re the story on David's dad, I do not think David's dad spoke to the tabloid. The original article was published 2 weeks ago. Here is the link:
http://www.business24-7.ae/cs/article_show_mainh1_story.aspx?HeadlineID=5443

This quote from Ted Beckham on David in the same article is quite appropriate “I’ve heard so many weird, ridiculous and stupid things that I don’t take any notice whatsoever,” he says defiantly. “Nobody knows him.....
People try to knock him – he’s been kicked many times – but he’s still up there. And that’s purely down to David.....he’s got a very strong personality. And that’s what I’m most proud of: the way he reacts to things.”
I do think that some of the quotes in the link posted have been made up or twisted.

A fan site is a support site.
When you give more prominence to the tabloid gossip and stuff, that is not necessarily true, over and above what David ( or those closely associated with him) says or does then it ceases to become a fan site and is just another gossip site where you regurgitate stories and re-create the same tabloid-style stuff just for the sake of it......so I think that was the point the second poster was making.
For a fan site, I think you should make more effort to find and quote the original text/source in its entirety.

thanks for all the support, I was just frustrated. like I said, I don't want prevent anyone from voicing their opinions... but the way that (3rd anonymous above from my post) here puts it is at least more detailed and constructive.
Point taken, though I don't think I give prominence to the gossip stuff but perhaps I can try and give it even less importance.
One thing to realize though is that on non-Match days, it's stuff like this that we have to work with and I think the majority of fans want to hear what is being said in the news about their guy.
And I do leave a lot of the nastier, negative stuff tabloid stuff out. For example, if I gave prominence to the tabloid stuff, I would have mentioned this along with this post which was ALL OVER the internet - which would have really painted the sort of picture that visitors here don't want:

-Cruz giving the finger to paparazzi.

-Some more regurgitation of Loos alleged affair.

-Some more negative "lack of contribution from Beckham to La Galaxy for the money he's paid".

I think you should post the link to the article of Ted Beckham talking about his son in your next post. http://www.business24-7.ae/cs/article_show_mainh1_story.aspx?HeadlineID=5443

I do think the tabloid (NOTW) twisted, made up some quotes and in some ways misrepresented some of Ted's words and did not give the full picture of the relationship between David and his dad, as said by Ted in the article published two weeks ago.

if you're saying that you don't want to discourage people from voicing their opinions, then don't lash out at them when they voice their opinions.

and keep in mind that this isn't a website you started from scratch. you inherited a site that had a certain way of doing things. thus, you inherited an audience of established support. respect that audience.

1:28 PM

Blogger Franco said...

I do respect the audience, tremendously, a little too much sometimes.
And I didn't lash out at anyone except the "anonymous" who is always the same person having fun lashing at my posts everytime I post something.
I encourage and don't lash out at the others that criticize in a way that is constructive.
And you don't really know the facts, so please don't assume anything about how I came about running this site.

Again thank you for the all nice comments. It's for all of you that appreciate this site for how it is now (not what it was in the past) that we continue to bring it to you.

now that everyone has had their say...how about some more content then? it's wednesday.

Blogger Franco said...

And also, please don't worry about lashing out at people who voice their opinions. Although this one might have brought me over the edge and cause me to comments (which usually I try not too, other people do it for me)...

I will still listen to constructive criticism and try my BEST to please the MAJORITY of fans here but will ignore and not reply again to other , non-constructive comments.

Really, kinda sorry I even did even reply now. I don't think I had my coffee yet so might have a been a little grouchier than usual when I replied that :). It's done now.

Well anyways, that's that and bottom line:

This is the site now, take it or leave it. We'll continue bringing the best that we can to the fans who want it. We can't please everyone, that's for sure :)

To those that think we're not doing the best job, as has been said many times: you're welcome to come and help us get it done like you think it should be done. If you're not willing to do that then guess you're stuck with us :)

Again for the record, I appreciate the type of criticism that the poster above gave, it's really helpful. He / she is telling me what parts she doesn't like and what I should do to improve next time.

That is really helpful and I don't want to discourage that, I appreciate those posts.

I might not always agree with them in its entirety but there are still usually good lessons for me to take a way from those that do it in a constructive way.
