It's been quite a mixed day for Beckham news, some of it too gossip-ish to bother including here, but I'll try to give you a broad spectrum.
Also, because I was away I was unable to get you David's latest blog post on the 8th, so I'll include it here now:
Hi everyone,
Well, the match against Columbus Crew was always going to be a tough game. We knew how good they were as a team, and how well they are playing at the moment. They’ve already qualified for the playoffs and are full of confidence. Unfortunately we made a mistake right at the end of the first half and they scored. We had our chances though, which was good to see, we just didn't put them away. Obviously it’s another tough defeat for us, but at least we showed great character.
We’re still in a position where we can qualify for the playoffs, but it’s going to be very tough and everyone has to play at the top of their game in the remaining matches.
I’m away with England now, so I’ll miss the game against Colorado Rapids, but I’ll be keeping my fingers crossed for the lads and hope we get the right result.
This is the first time the England lads have been together since the matches against Andorra and Croatia, and we'll take the confidence from those games and go for two positive results against Kazakhstan and Belarus
I’ll let you know how the matches go.
All the best,
David
Speaking of the Galaxy
...they won their match against the Rapids yesterday, 3-2. This means their playoff hopes are still alive, but they'll have to squeeze every point out of the remaining games to keep those hopes alive. Good luck to them on their continued campaign! Match report here.
Beckham house staff held for theft
Some disturbing news from England:
A couple who worked as housekeepers at David Beckham's Hertfordshire mansion have been arrested for theft, it was revealed today.More here.
The alarm was raised by the parents of his wife Victoria who saw items for sale on an auction website which were identical to property at the estate.
They went to the Beckhams' home in Sawbridgeworth, known as Beckingham Palace, found the same things were missing and called police.
Beckham happy to hand England baton to Theo
A very brief piece here presents a quote from David regarding Theo Walcott's place in England's squad vs. his own, and his future footing (no pun intended) in international play.
"Theo has been great and he played well again. You can see what a threat he is every time he gets the ball and runs at players," said Beckham. "There is no one that can get near him.
"He deserves to be where he is, and I hope he carries on - because he is an exceptional talent."
Financial Crisis Hits Casa Beckham
It's not everyone's cup of tea for news, but in the current international financial climate this is being widely reported, so here it is for those who want as much news as possible:
David Beckham, now with Los Angeles Galaxy, is trying in every way to sell his villa in Madrid, that has not been used since he left Real. "Casa Beckham" is situated in the very chic district of Moraleja and has five bedrooms, swimming pool and a football pitch. Bought for 4.5 million euros, it is currently on sale for 5. But the Spice Boy had to drop his claim to 3. And despite this he still has it.Source
David on Cosmo's World's Sexiest Men List
Another "sexy" honor: David's made the top 10 list of the world's sexiest men in the upcoming (November) issue of Cosmopolitan magazine. (source) Was there ever any doubt?
Becks an International Role Model, Again
And in more fluff, David was named a top role model by Australian children who voted in a poll that asked “Who is your favourite celebrity or famous person? It could be a singer, a sportsperson, a TV star, a politician or anyone else who’s famous”. (source) It's not the first time he's been lauded as a role model by either children or adults, and I doubt it will be the last. (Just like the neverending "sexy" lists...)
England vs. Kazakhstan Highlights/Goals
It's not in English and I hate the new trend of putting text like "click here" over videos, but here's a clip of highlights from Saturday's game.
