Milan refuses to budge in Beckham talks

AC Milan does not want to increase its offer to sign David Beckham permanently from Los Angeles Galaxy, club chief executive Adriano Galliani has said.

The England midfielder has been impressive during a two-month loan at the San Siro and Milan made an initial offer to keep him full-time earlier this month. Galaxy rejected the bid, which media reports have put between $3 million and $6.3 million.

The 33-year-old wants to stay with Milan and has a get-out clause in his Galaxy contract for the end of the next Major League Soccer season. Milan therefore does not see why it should pay more, with Galaxy hinting they want $12 million. Read more here

Milan still hopeful on Becks

Galaxy have yet to accept an offer from Milan and Galliani insisted over the weekend that the Rossoneri have no plans to increase their bid.

However, Galliani feels Beckham’s determination to see a permanent move go through could be the key factor.

He told the Italian press: “We are working to allow him to stay with us until June 30th, 2010.

“It’s the player’s will to remain here so he can play in the 2010 World Cup.

“In USA he’s considered a testimonial of their league and of other commercial things: that’s why there is the difference between our offer and the LA Galaxy’s request.

“David is ready to give up to a lot of money. It depends on him and his lawyers to negotiate everything.

“We will see. He will return to Los Angeles on March 9th, or he will remain until 31stMay, or rather he will remain with us until June 2010. I hope for the third hypothesis.” Read full article

David Beckham Still Has Scudetto Hopes For Milan

As a special guest at an Adidas store, AC Milan star David Beckham answered questions and revealed that he still believes that the Rossoneri can win the Scudetto this season. [...]

“It’s true [that] there is a large gap between us but I still believe we are the stronger team,” the 33-year-old said, referring to the 11 point difference Milan presently have to bridge to reach league-leaders Inter, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.

“It’s important to remain attached to Juve. The Scudetto? I will never say it is over but we must work hard to reduce the deficit that is currently stopping us from being challengers.” [...]

Meanwhile, ‘Golden Balls’ had no further news on whether he would secure a transfer to the Rossoneri from the Los Angeles Galaxy when his loan period expires in early March.

“I haven’t talked to anyone from the Los Angeles Galaxy recently; my lawyer is occupied with that,” he concluded. Read full article

Beckham Tips Manchester United To Beat Inter

‘Becks’ is siding with his former club and could even give Sir Alex Ferguson his scouting report ahead of United’s Inter showdown. [...]

Former Manchester United man David Beckham was the last Englishman to receive a harsh lesson at the hands of Inter, losing the Milan derby in the colours of the Rossoneri.

He’s warned the Red Devils about the multitude of threats at Jose Mourinho’s disposal ahead of the Champions League last 16 first leg clash at San Siro in midweek.

“They have good players all the way through the squad but I think the two forwards are [especially] strong,” ‘Golden Balls’ told The Independent following Milan’s win over Cagliari, obviously referring to Adriano and Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

“They are quick, they can hold the ball well and they are not frightened. You have to control them.”

Still, he feels that holders United remain favourites to progress. “United have also got players that can win games and their defence is exceptional at the minute,” he continued.

“They are [favourites] in my eyes, but I’m biased. They are on a run where they look unbeatable, and I hope that continues.

“I’m on their side because I’m a Man Utd. fan and a Milan player. I’ll speak to some of the [United] players and the manager, I’m sure.” Source

World Cup ticket info
Just in case Becks is involved…

The 2010 FIFA World Cup is still over a year away but the ticket sales process starts this month.

FIFA have announced that the first of five general public sales phases will run from 20 February to 31 March 2009 via www.FIFA.com. Supporters will be able to apply online for tickets that will then be allocated randomly on 15 April 2009. All applications will go into the draw at the same time regardless of whether they were submitted on the first or the last day of the sales phase. The second general public phase then runs from 4 May until 16 November 2009.

Once the final draw is made on 4 December this year, tickets held back from the general public sales process will be made available to the national association of each participating nation.

Should England qualify, The FA will receive 12% of the saleable capacity for each group match involving England and then 8% for any potential knock-out matches.

The FA will make this allocation available to members of englandfans+, the away tier of the official England supporters club and the football family. Read more here

Warning, Gossip Ahead: Beckhams ‘planning to renew vows’
This is unconfirmed gossip with unnamed sources, so take it with a grain of salt (though it doesn’t sound terribly far-fetched to me).

David and Victoria Beckham are reportedly planning to renew their wedding vows.

According to the Daily Express, the couple have already told friends that they are planning a special ceremony in honour of their tenth anniversary.

“David has promised Victoria that they will renew their wedding vows at the beginning of July… once his time with Milan is over,” said an unnamed source.

The pair, who married at Luttrellstown Castle in Ireland in July 1999, previously renewed their vows at a surprise ceremony in Hertfordshire three years ago.

However, the insider revealed that their upcoming event will be a “no-expense spared extravaganza, made all the more special after their enforced separation [while David is in Italy]“.

“David says it will be like another wedding and he’s even talking about using the thrones again,” they added, in reference to the infamous gold chairs from the couple’s first nuptials. Source
