Hi everyone,Well, the Milan derby was a great match to be involved in. The atmosphere in the stadium was incredible, one of the best I’ve experienced, but unfortunately the result didn’t go our way. We started quite well, but then found ourselves 2-0 down and although we did get back into the game again in the second-half, we couldn’t turn the match in our favour.
I was really disappointed to come off. I’d had a kick in the calf in the previous match against Reggina and then got another kick on the same calf, which was giving me trouble, so I had to stop playing. These things happen though, and despite the result it was amazing to be involved in my first Milan derby.
We travel to Germany next to play Werder Bremen in the UEFA Cup. I hope to play some part in the game if my injury clears up as it’ll be my first match in Europe for Milan. I’ll let you know how it goes.
That’s all for now.Take care,
David

Milan take “steps forward” in Beckham talks
David Beckham’s permanent move from Los Angeles Galaxy to AC Milan could finally be confirmed by the end of next week with the Italian club revealing they are edging closer to a deal. [...]AC Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani told Gazzetta dello Sport: “In the past few hours we have taken steps forward. We are more confident now.
“I am not optimistic nor pessimistic.
“Can the deal be completed next week? We shall see.”

But pro-Milan folks, don’t celebrate just yet – looks like there’s a lot of misinformation on both sides of the pond…
LA Galaxy chief warns Milan over Beckham
Los Angeles Galaxy supremo Tim Leiweke has warned AC Milan he “will not be taken for a ride” as the Rossoneri attempt to prise David Beckham away from Major League Soccer. [...]The two clubs have held talks but Leiweke, the president and chief executive of AEG – the company which owns the Galaxy – has branded Milan’s offer of £2.1 million as “ridiculous”.
“We are not close,” Leiweke told Gazzetta dello Sport.
“Two weeks ago, Milan made a ridiculous offer, to which I replied ‘no’ in a few seconds.
“With that figure, Galaxy don’t even cover the damages deriving from the shortfalls of not selling his shirts.
“Since then, no-one has made any moves. There are no meetings arranged.”
Leiweke’s revelations will come as a surprise to Milan fans after the vice-president of the Rossoneri, Adriano Galliani, said yesterday the Italian outfit had edged closer to keeping England midfielder Beckham.
“I have decided to speak up because I have read too many inaccurate stories,” Leiweke said.
“After that ridiculous offer, Milan have not done anything. They have tried other people, from the commissioner of the league (Don Garber) to David’s representatives, but not us, who own his rights.”

Bending it for gender equality
Onto something with a more pleasant vibe. Further to the cheque for UNICEF that David received at the Rangers vs. AC Milan friendly some weeks ago:
The former England captain and Unicef goodwill ambassador has helped Scottish club Rangers FC raise £100,000 for an Indian project that will focus on reducing gender disparities in education. Beckham turned up for a friendly between AC Milan and Rangers (Unicef’s football partner in Scotland) in Glasgow on February 5, where Rangers captain Barry Ferguson handed him the cheque before kick-off.“I feel great to accept this cheque from the Rangers Charity Foundation on behalf of Unicef. As an ambassador, I’ve seen the impact of Unicef’s work with children worldwide. The £300,000 pledged by the Rangers Charity Foundation will make a real difference to thousands of children in India, giving many the chance to go to school for the first time. It will help transform their lives,” he was quoted as saying on the Rangers website.
