Beckham returns, but Galaxy stars remain unaligned
When David Beckham walked into the Los Angeles Galaxy locker room late Saturday afternoon for the first time in more than seven months, he didn’t have an entourage. Bodyguards, apparently, were not necessary — either to deflect icy stares or assist Beckham in navigating his way around the elephant in the room.
Instead, as Beckham arrived to take conditioning tests, players were getting dressed, working with trainers, taking care of will-call tickets for the night’s game against Chivas USA, or engrossed in whatever their iPod or Xbox had to offer.
“Normal stuff,” Galaxy forward Edson Buddle said. “It wasn’t somebody getting the guys together. He walked in and everybody said, ‘Hi David.’ Everybody did their routine.”Keep reading…
Beckham responds to book criticism
David Beckham said Los Angeles Galaxy teammate Landon Donovan was “unprofessional” for speaking out without confronting him first.
Beckham, who was making his first public appearance in Southern California since returning from his five-month loan with Italian club AC Milan, said he had not spoken to Donovan, who called him a bad captain and portrayed him as stingy in an upcoming book “The Beckham Experiment,” written by Grant Wahl.
“It’s unprofessional in my eyes. In every soccer player’s eyes throughout the world it would be unprofessional to speak out about a teammate especially in the press and not to your face,” Beckham said.
“But I’m going to turn it on a positive spin because that’s what this needs. But in 17 years, I have played with the biggest teams in the world and the biggest players and not once have I been criticized for my professionalism. It’s important to get this cleared up and I will be speaking to Landon either this evening or over the next couple of days.”Keep reading… & more of the same here
Beckham: Issues with Donovan squashed
David Beckham has resolved his issues with Landon Donovan, saying he recently had a good conversation with his Los Angeles Galaxy teammate.
Beckham practiced with the Galaxy on Monday for the first time since returning from a five-month loan to Italian club AC Milan. Since his arrival back in Southern California, he has been peppered with questions about Donovan calling him a bad captain and portraying the English star as stingy in an upcoming book.
Beckham said details of their meeting will remain private but it went very well.
“I’m not going to talk about what was said,” Beckham said. “That was between me, Landon and the manager [Bruce Arena]. I said the other day everything that was needed to say.”Keep reading…

However, Beckham revealed that he still hoped to return to Milan at the end of the MLS season.
“Obviously Milan expressed that they want me to go back, so I don’t see any reason why that would change,” he said. “We’ll have to wait and see. I hope to be going back there.”Keep reading…
